Canada Family dies in horrible farmhouse fire

A terrible tragedy that I just saw on the news.
Please send your prayers to the family of a mother and 7 children that died in a fire this Tuesday.

Yeah, I saw that on the news this morning. Tis really sad.

 

That happened locally.

I drove past the road the farmhouse was one actually just tonight. Its blocked off still.

Very sad to see, and one of the worse fire tragedies in Ontario.

 

I don't live anymore than 10 minutes away from Lincholn, You never expect something so terrible to happen close to where you live.

I walked by a stand of newspapers yesterday, all 7 of them, all different publications had the same photo of the smiling children and mom. It was only really then that it struck me what a tragedy this is.

The way that the media has decended upon West Lincholn has me abseleloutely disgusted, why can they not just stay away and leave the family room to grieve and respect there wishes of privacy?

 

Because they're the media and thats what they do. For national media it's material for a day or so - 'tragic fire occurs, film at eleven'. For local it's material for at least a week - 'day one: cover story, day two: reaction of close friends, day three: impact on the community, day four: op-ed piece on importance of fire alarms'.

Our news media focuses on tragedy and sensationalism. Not a chance of that changing any time soon.

 

Ya, typically they don't want to do that, but it brings in the money.

 

I don't know, I kind of think they do want to do that.
I saw a piece on the local news about it (first I'd heard) and started to cry.
