    Doesn't need to be that high. But I don't want it to be a ditch either. 20-30 ft would be great.

    Like I mentioned before, the ideal area for the lightsaber practice area would be a courtyard or something like that. There's actually a place very close to my house that has a park with a nice little area that might work if necessary. But it's currently the meeting room and other locations that have to be indoors that are giving me the problems.

    I guess I'll go ahead and let slip my backup plan.

    Last week I got the idea to do a different sort of fan film. For those that don't get to watch many fan films, there's things that don't appear in many of the fan films.

    One of them is space battles. So far, only 3-4 fan films have had any sort of space battles at all. They have ALL been CG and fairly well done. However, CG space battles are incredibly difficult to do (hence the scarsity) and time consuming as well. So I came up with the bright idea of doing it the old school way with models and blue screen.

    So far, I've only started actual construction on the Star Destroyer model. However, it's looking very cool. Here's some pics from construction:

    [image=http://s94958815.onlinehome.us/images/star_destroyer1.jpg] [image=http://s94958815.onlinehome.us/images/star_destroyer2.jpg]
    [image=http://s94958815.onlinehome.us/images/star_destroyer3.jpg] [image=http://s94958815.onlinehome.us/images/star_destroyer4.jpg]
    [image=http://s94958815.onlinehome.us/images/star_destroyer5.jpg] [image=http://s94958815.onlinehome.us/images/star_destroyer6.jpg]
    [image=http://s94958815.onlinehome.us/images/star_destroyer7.jpg] [image=http://s94958815.onlinehome.us/images/star_destroyer8.jpg]
    [image=http://s94958815.onlinehome.us/images/star_destroyer9.jpg] [image=http://s94958815.onlinehome.us/images/star_destroyer10.jpg]

    I'm also planning on doing several TIE fighters (some of which I want to blow up with fireworks, cuz it'd be cool to have REAL explosions instead of the canned ones usually used), and a custom smuggler ship.

    I'll be building a cockpit set for the smuggler ship and have any acting taking place in there.

    Currently, I haven't figured out what the script's going to be. Dajuan and I have come up with a few cool ideas including doing a Kessel Run or doing tribute to ESB with a nice asteroid chase through potatoes.

    However, both of those ideas have some big challanges associated with them (ie, how the hell do you create backgrounds with a series of black holes that looks good?). By far the easiest would just be a straight out dogfight in empty space (or with a planet in the background).

    Yet, I'm still looking for some sort of plot. While a smuggling run gone bad would be amsuing, it lacks any real depth. I prefer to make the struggles much more deep, either by having it be on an emotional level with the characters, or by having it pull together an important part of the Star Wars mythology.

    So currently, I don't really have any ideas I like for a story line. If anyone has any they think would be good, let me know.

    Oh, and Dajuan has dibs on Captain. I think I'll stay out of acting in this one and just direct. And anyone want to make a wookee costume?

    That's news to me. You're not going to be my partner? Ah well, who wants to be my co-pilot?

    Who ever is going for the C-P let me know because I'm going to have to create a costume for you that matches mine to a point. They will not be identical, but they can't clash either.

    I was thinking the typical dark pants, white shirt, boots and maybe a vest or jacket. Something Han Solo-ish, but not identical.

    Cause we want more live witnesses to the beauty that is explosions. That and to help clean up the shrapnel (sp?) afterward.

    so are you planning on building any kind of rig to control your camera? or are you just gonna do it free-hand?

    also, what kind of material are you going to use for blue-screen?

    I'm planning on going to the fabric store and seeing if I can find some really nice blue fabric. If I can't, then I'll probably get some sort of drywall and paint it.

    As far as motion control, I'm not doing anything elaborate, but I will be rigging something to keep the motions smoother. Probably involving a rolly desk chair.
