Actually, I posted two ideas, a "serious" adventure and the Newlywed Game parody. Ah well, more isn't always better!

I almost missed this because it wasn't in the other thread. :_| So sorry you won't make it. Hope to meet you at the next gathering, and we'll try to remember to toss around some ideas!

Whoa whoa.. excuse me? I am NOT hoping to use this film to further my career and give me mad success. It's a friggin fan film, if I wanted to further my career I'd make an original movie. Who do you think I am? I want to do this for fun. I want to to do this as a challenge. If we can help Drgn get his acting out there in the process, then that's all good. I have NOTHING against people benefitting from this. How did I ever say so? "Fine and dandy" I say? Because I don't really need to hear about his drama with other people. I'm not them. I'm not doing this to make myself look good. I'm just doing it for fun and a challenge, so there's no way I could screw him. And even if I could, I wouldn't. That's just not my character.

What exactly is your point? To push me down? Please tell me if so otherwise. First of all, I never said I thought this thing was going to be for free. So, where do you get that from? And please do tell me, what the problem is with me saying I want serious dedicated people and someone to come up with a story idea???? So, basically what you want me to do is think of the idea, write the story, direct it, and sit at my computer for weeks and edit it? I think that's a bit much. I know where my talent lay, I know where it doesn't. So, I'm asking for help. If that is TOO much to ask for for some people who have the same interest that I do to make a film, then god forbid, I'll leave now.

And on a side note, I looked over the PMs I sent you, I didn't say about the effects was the reason to do a film. But I know when talking with you on AIM, I said I'd like to use them because it'd be a challenge but I wouldn't want a story to be revolved around them.

And by the way, if you have a problem with me, just let me know. I can handle that.

    >>Because I don't really need to hear about his drama with other people.<<

Sorry, but after YEARS of being a NICE guy and waiting my turn patiently helping out and being a team player and listening to the broken record of..."well thanks but for this project I feel that we should let so and so be the lead." I have found it is necessary to whine and bitch like ALL of the other self centered self promoting people who got the lead before me and make it LOUD and abundantly clear that it is a privos of my extremely active and dedicated participation in ANY fan film that I will be doing the LEAD. One thing I can bring beyond my acting ability and my costumes is that I still have access to TWO full profesional Hollywood Prop/Costume shops and some of the people who have brought some of the most popular fan films to life, who at this time are also working with me to bring to life another project also working under this proviso.

At some point it is necessary to put ones foot down in order to make it clear what is expected in order to make it worth the while to participate. I have been at this for years, hardly new to it by any stretch of the imagination, worked behind the scenes patiently for years on REAL film and television sets, and worked profesionally in front of the camera. I have learned from years of being in Hollywood that I will NEVER be a leading man EVER so I look to fan films and see that plenty of others whom have this same realization do the same thing to live thier dream on a much smaller scale. In recent history I have been study and talking with numerous fan film makers most of whom are also the leads in thier films and am trying to now model my next project after what they have done only better. I am sorry if you view my doing what ANY other actor does in order to be heard as Drama, but I learned it from those who already went before me and got what they wanted and finally stooped to thier level to be heard. And to deny that I am right about how this behavior(however petty it sounds)is used to get "star treatment" would only show you havent spent enough time on actual sets fan film or otherwise.I just came off of Tears of the Dragon a Lara Croft fan film currently in production and watched how several talentless hacks with no talent LIED outright and actually used my credentials and background to get the part I was up for and then had the director trn around and beg me to teach the chosen fool to do his lines and teach him martial arts choreography!
Yeah this is my issue, but I am at a life defining moment in time and if you want to take that lightly and call it Drama fine...then expect the same level of concern for you desire to dabble in my chosen arena of a life career.

Don't get offensive all right. My point is I don't need to know what the problem was. You're in the film, I'm cool with that. Why do I need to know anything else? I simply don't need to. And honestly, be honest with yourself, to NOT call it drama is just a lie. All that, it is drama.. it doesn't make it wrong, it doesn't make it right. But, that is drama. And I agree with you, you have a right to get all pissy with other people and blah blah blah. I'm not argueing with you, I'm not against you. I agree with you. So don't give me any friggin bullcrap for agreeing with you alright? Yeah, I would like to do a fan film. But, if it's going to be like this? Like.. constant power struggle and so and so tearing up every little word I say, then forget about it. I really want to work with you people.. but if these are the attitudes, then I'm not so sure. I'll live without making a fan film. But, I'd really like to.

Maybe we're all just dancing around right now because this is the internet and it's hard to convey what one means.. or maybe we're all on different pages. I don't know. But, I've made myself clear. I want to make a film the best I can, I want to have fun, I want it to be a challenge, and I sure as hell don't need to hear bitching about other people. You bitch to your wife, your friends, whatever.. you don't need to bitch to me. There's no reason. You want to be in a film, well if it's me you're making it with, then you're in it. So what's the problem???

This would not be the first time I've been the head of a production. I've always had one main rule ... you leave the drama off the damn set. With your own friends you want to talk about this and that, then fine. But on the set (not just the literal set, but the whole process), it's positive attitude. Because the film will come down hard, especially a small one like this, if the attitude is nothing but positive.

There's really no need for baiting comments and flaming remarks here. Amy came to this group, sight unseen, wanting to do a fan film, and we've all tried to be helpful and supportive in seeing her achieve this goal. For...Whatever...Reasons. I myself spent time and effort offering ideas and brainstorming offlist. (in IM's, Amy, IM. NOT PM.) Other members who duck their heads in here wanting to do a fan film should receive the same supportive regard she did, yet a guy who is not only a member, but has years of professional experience, gets talked down to as if he may not even be worthy to carry a clipboard. oy. Talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water. And people wonder where this group gets its reputation. =D=

Amy, you've misinterpreted several things in my post, such as the meaning of "PM" versus "IM" and "career" versus "endeavor." The spin you've put on my words is clearly making a big difference. But flame wars are against the FF Terms of Service and fail to add anything to this board, so please take your concerns or questions about my post offlist.

You're talking about Drgn? Who is talking him down? All I said is that I don't need to know the long drama (and it is drama, I don't mean it as a bad thing). All I need to know about Drgn's sitaution is that he's been around for awhile, he has paid his dues, he got screwed over, and he wants to star in one. That's all I need to know. And I'm good to go. If you're talking about me talking him down, I don't see how. I'm with him in agreement, he wants to star, he can star. End of discussion.

From the very beginning, I have said I don't want this to be just my project. I want it to be a collaborative IE experience. I apologize I didn't like the two ideas you gave me jade, but that happens. I didn't think making Obi a character would work just because that character is linked to two actors in the movies already. I didn't want to do a game show parody just simply because that honestly does not interest me much at all. If you have taken any offense to me not liking those ideas, I apologize. But, not everyone sees eye to eye. There have been others who have said "yeah I want to work on the film" and then that's all. I have no idea what they can do, I've asked, some just don't know.. whatever is fine with them. And that's cool, but it's sort of difficult right now because we're all just a mish mash of people with no direction because of no story. You, Drgn, and I have only given ideas. Mine, I think is far beyond retarded. I like Drgn's idea. I don't know about other people. But I do like it. That's a start. All the people who want to do this, if the majority say "hey let's do this!" then we will, and we'll start writing it. One person, two people, ten people write it, whatever.

This thread is very long now. If the people who are interested in this film could send me a PM and give me their name and the area where they live and what they're willing to do for the film, then I can put it down on one sheet and start to get a little more organized.

[face_laugh] [face_laugh] [face_laugh] Amen, sis, but I grew up around Hollywood in a show biz family, worked and have friends in the industry, and have been married to a cameraman, then an actor. This is EXACTLY the type of thing that goes on. Why else do you think this behavior is CALLED *drama?* [face_laugh] [face_laugh]

*Watch the profanity, peeps. FF is a family environment.*

So that makes it alright? I don't buy it. If that's how people want to act, then they can. And if that's how they act and blame it on "that's just how it is" then that's a pity. I just don't ivolve myself with those types. "Hollywood" (if it can be called that anymore), is not black and white.

And I apologize for the profanity.

And still the personal insults and drama continue. <sigh>

One of the first tools a professional writer learns to develop is the growth of a tough skin. I've gotten enough rejection slips in my day to wallpaper an office, and I'm not at all ashamed to say it! So having an idea set aside that I wasn't even getting paid for hardly puts a hiccup in my day. Again, words are being put into people's mouths, and actions are being attributed to motives that don't exist. Which, ironically enough, stirs that pot o' drama you are so desperate to avoid.

Too much hard work is being done to help frame this group in a positive light to see it come unglued over the likes of this. Any more hurtling of profanity and personal insults and a lock will be requested on this thread.

Good luck with your fan film/endeavor/career/insertyourpreferredtermhere. I'm sure you've got what it takes to succeed. I've got to run and get ready for the party. I am sorry to hear you won't be joining us. Perhaps another time.

*sigh* For whatever reason you think I just insulted you I AGAIN apologize. I don't know how many times I've apologized in this thread for nothing I've done but for being misunderstood. I by no means implied that you would get a hiccup in your day from my disliking your idea.. I just said I apologize if it offended you in some way.

I have done NOTHING to you or your husband or anyone else on this board but ask if anyone wanted to do a fan film together. It's too much of a request? Goodbye and good luck.

    <waves white flag>

    Hi my name is Lisa.

I have 2 RWD Corollas, a RWD Celica and a VW Jetta.

Skills: English major with experience writing screen plays, audio engineer with some experience doing film sound, adr, foley, lots for recording music. Unfortunately I don't have my own equipment. : ( I also am a licensed rally driver with the SCCA/NASA/Rally America with my trusty rally car Anakin, who has his own camera mount for that authentic pod racing sequence. I love to write, have written fan fic, non-fic, regular fiction, scripts, for news papers etc. since forever. I have my own sewing machine and I can sew pretty well. I love making costumes!

Locations? I often take Anakin up to the Lytle Creek area to practice on the roads there and in the adjacent hills. The San Bernardino Forest has a very extensive set of roads that take you from brushy flatland creek beds to higher elevation decidious (no relation to Sidious) trees... and the best part... once you get up there you can't see civilization. This is about 15 minutes away from Rancho, close to the Glen Helen Pavillion. And it's accessible to SUVS/trucks/cars with higher clearance. I think the Fontana area around the CA Speedway has also go alot of industrial, post-apocalyptic run down factories, too. If you want to drive, I also practice in Jean Nevada, 30 minutes below Las Vegas. There's a ton of dry lake beds there. There are always people filming commericals there. The surrounding hills are also nice. It's only about 2 hours away from Titus Canyon in Death Valley, which is of course where Luke met the Jawas and Obi-Wan in ANH. : ) And the rooms at the adjacent casinos are really cheap ($45) on weekdays. And someday, I will rent out Caesar's Palace and Mandalay Bay... gotta love the Naboo-esque marble!

Great ideas? I have really taken to liking the show Lost, which features a group of people who crash landed on a seemingly deserted island that has strange powers. The show focuses on an individual character's life before the crash and what happens on the island. It's a good format for a short film because you don't have to work on lengthy character relationships (they get figured out on the spot) and you won't need extensive locations. What's cool about the island on Lost is that it has an aura about it that changes people (a handicapped guy can suddenly walk, a doctor has visions, etc.) and if I didn't know better, I'd say it was the Force. So let's say that there is a transporter filled with lots of interesting people (Bobba Fet, a Jedi, Senators etc.) that crashes on a strange ucharted planet. The planet seems to be the embodiment of the Force and suddenly things change- the Jedi can't use his/her powers, Bobba Fet has to care for people other than himself and actually develops compassion, etc. They think they're alone until they discover a distress signal interfereing with their own. There is another group there, perhaps someone sympathetic to the Dark Side... They clash, only to realize that the only way of leaving the planet is by yielding to the power it possesses. When everyone steps down and finds their thread in the galactic cloth, the Force suddenly leaves the planet, blown away like a ball of Bantha fur in the wind. Things work again, and they're off!

I like to write a lot, so if you have an idea but don't want to write, send it my way and I'll write a short story and perhaps (because I've gotten tired of re-writing TPM and ROTS dialogue) I can write it as a script. : )

Any ideas for a film: I like the idea about the brothers, I like any fan film that deals with the jedi. I also find anything with the Jedi Civil War interesting. Also it might be interesting to explore the original split in the Jedi Order that caused the Sith and Jedi to make their first war.

Contributions you could make to the film: I can act, I can edit video and can rotoscope in lightsaber effects. I'm currently in the process of learning to use Maya, so if I get that done by the time we get started I might be able to add in other things as well. I'm also a martial artist, I admit I haven't been practicing as much as I'd like recently, but hopefully that will change soon. I have studied Jiujitsu, Tae Kwon Do, and Shaolin Kempo.

Where you're located and any desirable location spots: I'm in Redlands there's not much here, although where I'm originally from in Oregon, if people wanted to take a field trip... I could think up some nice spots up there to do some shooting.

Length of film: Well, with that brothers storyline, I'd think around a half hour. but most fam films are closer to 20 min. Either way sounds good to me, I just wanna be involved, and hold a glow stick on camera, that's all I aspire to do. What ever I can do to help, just let me know.

    Will
