Ok, that time of year again, :) its been a tough one trying to find the best venue for these awards this year. I have started this thread so we can get the ball rolling and see what cons are coming up and closest for everyone to attend...

    any suggestions?

there isnt a month they are particularly held in, we picked EFF last year since it was closest and seemed to have the larger turnout of NE members. This year we are trying to find another con most will be attending to hold them at. :)

If people are willing to come to way up to Rochester, the FanForce awards are more than welcome to be held at Astronomicon. Here are some other cons that I'm aware of that are taking place between August-December 2005 and are in FF's NE Region.

    $20 non-member

    Chiller Theatre
    October 28th - 30th
    E Rutherford, NJ

    $45 for 3-day pass

    Astronomicon 9
    November 11th - November 13th
    Rochester, NY
Spider & Jeanne Robinson, Bob Eggleton, Robert Weinberg, Forrest J. Ackerman, Steve Bennett and more
    $30 for 3-day pass (until 07/31/05)
    $5 discount if you're a member of a sci-fi club/group

    United Fan Con
    November 11th - November 13th
    Springfield, MA
Patrick Stewart, Richard Hatch, Richard Herd and more TBA
$59 Gold Weekend pass (until 08/31/05)

    Big Apple Con
    November 18th - 20th
    NYC, NY
    No guests listed yet

I think out of those, I might vote for Astronomicon (as it would be shortest travel time for myself :p and I'm on the con committee) or my 2nd choice might be the SW exhibit at the Boston museum.

Cool! I hadn't had Boston Supermegafest on my con calendar yet. I did have the NJ one, but I didn't include any cons in July because I figured they were happening too soon to get the FanForce awards organized by then.

I'm know that we're not planning on Chiller this year. We'll be too busy getting ready for Halloween and the DVD release party.

I'm with Joe on Chiller ;)

Possibly Super Mega Fest in Boston or Wizard World Boston, because I'm sure I'll be in Beantown for that!

as long as we can get separate rooms and events so all of the fanforce can get together for this then ok.

but if its a table and a room for a half and hour in which we have to wait for fourty five minutes then no way.

whatever you decide I might be there.

but end of sept is bad for me because I will be in Canada for the Niagara grape and wine parade with the canadian and NY fanforces.

which by the way could be a possible spot for it.

We could have alot of people come up to Niagara for the parade and awards and have fun the night before in the town square.

I know that we're planning on Grape & Wine on Sept 24th, but our NE section spreads all the way down to VA and Canada would be quite the trek for them.

I could make it to Rochester for sure. Travel may be difficult with the little one on the way.

Im still trying to figure a venue that would be convenient for everyone not to mention a venue I can get to since I am a bit further away from everyone ;)

I have already started gathering figures for the next wave of awards. :)

I will be announcing the catagories within the month.
    Hang tight.

What figures do you need? Some of us might just have some spares lying around that they'd be willing to donate for the awards. Or can help look in local stores for them.

If we go with the similar awards we can use the same characters......... I think it makes it easier to use the same figures as last time since I think we have it mastered how to make them now ;)

However I am open to any suggestions as far as what cool figures they would like to see as a trophy this year :)

EDIT: Here are the catagories from last year :) This may give a few ideas - we can add new catagories if anyone would like to PM me there suggestions :)
