    hi all
if you have seen the gmex pre planning thread i have created (the fronts at least) of a possible FFUK-north trading card

    [image=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b384/nlindenj/ffuktcsample.jpg]

that we can give out and sign for the kids, something more tangable than just a flyer

i was thinking about getting some quotes for printing them up, so i'll need a back to the card so any ideas, is there a passage or quote that is used on other FFUK literature
    please help guys

firstly Nige - the cards look great & it's a good idea =D=

    but (there's always a but)

I wouldn't be comfortable for my image as a costumer to be promoting FFUK:N, it has been said numerous times (and not by me) that FFUK:N is not a costuming organisation (which I accept) - and I think it would be hypocritial to use costumers to promote FFUK:N

I know it's a bit political, and as groups well all get on but imo it would 'muddy the waters' between the distinctive groups and confuse the public

i get what you are saying and it was just an idea, nothing set in stone, just bouncing ideas around the room (one might stick to the wall soon)

hope this one is more to your liking:p

I think I am with Spike T on this, though it's a great idea Nige, most costumers at events will be signed up for one of the big costuming groups to troop for them at that event, not FF-UK, and though members are in a quite a few different groups, it would be unfair of FF to promote ourselves in such a way. It'd definitely give the wrong impression. We work alongside the groups, but how many purely FF-UK costumers are there really, who haven't signed up with the bigger groups dedicated to trooping? Ogli, and two/three FF-UK London members. I am not saying FF-UK doesn't include costuming in what we do, but we are the little fish in the costuming world. I tried getting a FF-UK costuming side started here, but by that point a lot of members had already jumped ship to troop with the bigger groups. Maybe Sie or Hal would like to restart, or just focus on what FF-UK does best - the social side of fandom and the fact we have our fingers in everything, specialise in none.

Well I like em and think it's a good idea. It might even get some people to log onto the site that wouldn't otherwise, and then see for themselves that there are a lot of non-costumers, etc. I don't think it would cause a 'problem' and I think it's a cool incentive to get people curious about the FFUK.

There is no offence intended by anyone here. It's always good to great and innovative ideas on the boards. But I will agree wholeheartedly in the point that FF is not a costuming group and shouldn't be presented or perceived in that fashion. So I don't think it's a good idea for CE. BUT it's a great idea for a FF:UK-N project and you could make some Top Trump cards up for the members to play with etc etc.

I can see where Nige is coming from with the cards And dont get me wrong they are good !
But with regards to costuming Im with Spike_Thmid on this FFUK N DONT have a costuming section we are mostly Rebel legion uk members who just happen to be on-line members of both Fan Force and RL.

We have Fan Force costumers that aren't members of the Rebel Legion itself. Sure, we have RL costumers, and 99th costumers that work here, but if we look at things such as trading cards, people wanting them (especially autographs etc) could be looking for a group to join, without getting involved in costuming itself. That's us.

What about the Sedgefield gig Dave? :p

But seriously, I'm in two minds about this. They do seem like a fun idea (I'd think it be pretty cool to have a character trading card of yourself, in my own geeky way hehehe :-B ) but although FF-UK does have costumers, FF-UK arent a costume group, thats been elaborated many times. I personally arent officially part of any costuming group atm, because I'm still thinking about it, and my costumes need more work etc. So atm I'm an FF-UK:N member who just likes get dressed up and have a good time hehe. Also, I have one or two non SW costumes that im in the process of putting together (and fingers crossed will be wearing at GMEX in November [face_praying] ) If the trading cards were all star wars characters Then I'd feel a bit out of place :p

But otherwise, great idea Nige [face_peace]

I see your point leigh But the Sedgefeild night dont count as they were very young kids!
Plus they would have dropped it or bidden it when they had gotten home.

What we need on this line is to do a fan film and get more know in the Northern area (maybe some help from Nige's 99th)

I think this was a great idea (I'm with Leigh on this, I'm geeky enough to love having my own trading card too) but since we're not really a costuming group so it might not be any use to us.

If we don't use these for trading cards we could use the idea for passes at events, each one saying what we're doing (like table support, costume support, costumer, event attendee) each with our own picture.

...we've been autographing for the kids for along time when in costume (and we were promoting FF-UK at the time) - I think I first got asked back at the very first GMEX event...(and didnt know what the hell to sign at first....Mickey Mouse? )

Great idea Nige. Count me in for some if you make them...just pm me and let me know if you do a run?

Don't count on it, Dave. Your young fan at Sedgefield was staring at the stuff given to him for a long time after you guys had gone.

Before the dark times, before the rebellion :p

Nige, I still think it's a great idea, but hang tight with it because there is something afoot where it can be used to promote a greater good ;)

Nige, it is a great idea. We just need to put it in the right context and we're laughing.
