Austin,TX FANBOYS film event February 6th!

In conjunction with Alamo Drafthouse I'm trying to rally as many 501st member and Star Wars fans as possible to attend the screening at 7pm Friday, on Feb. 6th. (Not sure which Alamo yet - they're announcing it later this week.) We'll have the local press there, and are planning some other cool stuff for that opening night screening. We're trying to get as many fans as possible to come out in costume, wearing Star Wars t-shirts, wielding their lightsabers, or just to showing up to enjoy the flick. I've seen you guys post on the Fanboys myspace and wanted to make sure the Austin Fan Force knew about the event.



Austin and Houston are the ONLY 2 cities in Texas getting the film opening weekend, and other cities are depending on a massive turnout to get it released in more cities in the coming weeks, so we need as many people to show up as possible!

As stated, we're having a big screening on Friday the 6th, but Ernie told me he'll be there both Friday and Saturday, so if you can't make Friday come out Saturday! The Austin Fan Force hopes to be out in Force both days, with costume and trivia contests!

 

For those interested, tickets (at the Alamo) have gone on sale.

 

And where is this taking place? Which Alamo ... or do I just need to go ahead and sign up at the offical AustinFanForce website?

This will be at the Alamo Ritz on the corner of Trinity and 6th Streets.

The theatrical run starts Feb 6th, and that night we will be out in Force (HA!), starting around 5pm, with 501st patrolling 6th Street, and getting people pre-registered for the costume contest. If you are planning on coming down, tickets to look for are for the 6:45pm show.

We have called on Austin's own Fan Force for support...but fear we'll be devastatingly outnumbered. We ask you, the faithful and fearless Fanboys and Fangirls to come dressed as your favorite (original) Star Wars character and help defend the galaxy...or crush the rebels, it's really up to you. Plus, there's going to be a costume contest- you could receive a medal of honor for your bravery. So break that once-glorious Star Wars fanaticism of yours out of the carbonite of THE PHANTOM MENACE and BE AT THE RITZ at the 6:45pm show on February 6!

And if that weren't enough, FANBOYS writer Ernest Cline will be LIVE IN PERSON to introduce the film...and judge your costume, so come prepared!
