Info about movie Release Feb 6 2009

 

That's the US release date isn't it??

 

I think i't is but we should get it here not to long after.

 

I hope so! and with most movies that's the case, but some limited release films can have release dates of months later and I'm worried this will fall under that category

 

Are we doing the premiere??

After all, we are Adelaides biggest Fanboys....

 

Well lets hope not, We've already waited long enough for it.

When I first heard it was coming out last year (groan) I mooted the idea of doing it in costumes like real fanboys...hahaha.

So there you have it. Not brilliant, but the jokes, smiles and laughs will really be appreciated by those who know the source material well (ie. us).

But where's the release date for here dammit?!? I doubt it will get a theatrical release at this rate but we can hope for a DVD release I guess. *sigh*

Coolies. The ACMI is a great place. I went there for an exhibition called "Game On" last year...hundreds of arcade machines and old computers to play with...*drool*. I probably won't be visiting Melbourne then though

Confirmed Australian DVD release date of June 5 means we'll **finally** be able to officially see it

 

Brief rundown, no spoilers:

Very episodic in nature, the reshoots are obvious and not as natural as the original footage, dubious editing decisions, little character development, obvious storyline, disproportionate and unnecessary amount of Star Trek fan stereotyping (but funny nonetheless).

Is it worth watching then? Hell yes

So many in jokes (not just SW related, plenty of others littered throughout), good use of licensed sound effects and music (sometimes surprisingly subtle), plenty of laughs to be had (although it's necessary to be a SW fan to get the bulk of them) and generally a fun film centered around our favourite hobby. The moral of SW fans getting along despite differences is quite relevant come to think of it.

Oh, and Kristen Bell. 'nuff said.

For SW fans: 3.5 lightsabres out of 5.
For non SW fans: 2.5 lightsabres out of 5, but you probably wouldn't bother if you didn't like SW anyway.
