My usual question, but I can't help it, I love the answers: What is the most vivid dream you've ever had?

From your interview responses so far, you definitely don't strike me as the "Most Boring Person in the History of Ever"—quite the opposite!

You mentioned your mom's awesome cooking—do tell us more about that. Any favorite dishes and/or ingredients? Do you cook, too?

I am loving your answers so far - especially your insights on Luke. So spot on. [:D]

What is your favourite place you have travelled to - or, where would you go if you could go anywhere? :)

Video games! What do you like to play, what are your favorites, any guilty pleasures? What do you refuse to play, what are your preferred time sinks?

Art stuffs! Do you draw, what do you like to draw, what populates your sketchbook? Do you prefer to only draw finished gallery/portfolio pieces? Do you fill papers with mindless doodles? Fanfic-related stuff? Try different styles? Drawing experiments?

I'd ask if you'd like to see my insect/arachnid collection, but it's already posted a couple pages or so back.

Please forgive me for being utterly lame, but I'm woefully uncultured - these are the 2 questions I knew I really wasn't going to be able to answer. [face_worried] I'll try to keep giving this thought, though, so I can get back to you...

This was also by sheer accident - I would wake up very early to go to school as a young girl, and a syndicated, English-dubbed run of Sailor Moon was broadcast at like 6am or so in the morning, so I'd watch it before heading out, and for some inexplicable reason it was like crack for me, lol. I only became aware of the original manga later. But yeah, little me was fangirling all over the Serena/Darien [Usagi/Mamoru] OTP. :p The local station only showed a limited arc of the whole series.

Off the top of my head...buh. I'm sure I've had many, but they've obviously faded from my memory, lol.

Mom, like her mother before her, is an intuitive cook. Give her some random ingredients and she'll make a feast without following any recipes. Her weapon of choice is tamales. =P~ Traditionally you're supposed to have a tamalada, which is a big party with family and friends all doing the different tasks it takes to make the tamales, because GUUUUUUUURL, it's labor-intensive. Mom and I are all alone, so she does it all by herself, LIKE A BOSS. The thing is, making tamales is technically easy. It's the just the amount of stuff that turns it into this epic ordeal. And you should only do this in the dead of winter when it's Hoth-freezing outside, because you're going to turn your home into a sauna with all the huge steaming pots on the stove for hours on end.

I'm a capable cook, but I'M LAZY LIEK WOAH, lol. Lazier than a college frat boy. I'll help Mom out when she needs it, though. I do make pretty good scratch buttermilk biscuits. And when I was in like middle school, I secretly purchased ingredients to make banana nut bread for Mother's Day, hid them in my bedroom, and got up at the butt-crack of dawn to make it - I totally ninja'd Mom, LOL. It came out great. However, I can't throw stuff together in a "WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?!!" manner. I'm more like Alton Brown; I have to follow a rigid recipe.

My Firefox browser groans under the copious weight of hundreds of food porn bookmark links, and we constantly pick up cookbooks at Goodwill.

My dirt-poor grandmother - the aforementioned Jedi Master Chef - once had the dilemma of wanting to make a cake for one of her sons, but she had no frosting. But she did have eggs and a can of Tang powder (this was in the 60s). So she beat egg whites until stiff, mixed with the Tang, and made orange creamsicle frosting, HAH. Mom says it was delish.

Maine. One thing I do cherish about those tumultuous times of mine during and shortly after college is being taken there several times. It's breathtaking and peaceful, although the winters are so hardcore. AND ALL THE FOOD THERE IS SO AWESOME YAAAAASSSS. [face_hypnotized] Like, even at some random gas station in the middle of nowhere you'll find something like strawberry hot chocolate that tastes like real strawberries. Blueberry cream soda (which was discontinued, WAHHH!!!), lobster rolls, sauteéd salmon with wild blueberry sauce, old-fashioned chocolate shops...ugh. *drowns in drool*

I walked on a pebble beach, waded in a crystal-clear gold panning creek, saw the arm of the Milky Way galaxy in the pitch black of night...yeah. It was great. I've been to London for a 2-week stretch for my old job, and that was really nifty too. But Maine beats it for me.

Hmmm...repulsorlift tech might be pretty useful, methinks. Numerous applications. Drones are the tech du jour right now, but imagine things not even needing air displacement to float and fly. It could be helpful for tiny to enormous engineering projects.

I've never, ever been a gamer, but I've been entertaining myself lately watching all the old Wing Commander cutscenes uploaded to YouTube. :p

I used to draw - I bothered to go to art school, but I was too stuck-up to go to a more budget-friendly one, so I ran out of money before finishing my degree. I majored in Illustration and had dreams of being a comic book artist. However, I am slower than sludge, which is impossible to do for a comic artist. I could spend 40 hours on a painting and only be halfway finished. My preferred media, though, is pencil, Prismacolors, or charcoal, and I like working on tinted paper too. Portraiture is my favorite focus. Because I'm a perfectionist and I'm so slow, I'm definitely not a doodler. Here's another one of my college class oil portraits:

ARGH, I wish I could do art for my fanfics. I was heavily interested in fashion design before I chose my illustration major, so designing character costumes is a big deal for me. I'd love to do both concept art and scenes from my fics. But it's too time-consuming.

If somebody dropped one of those sexy Wacom tablets in my lap, I'd explode in a fury of squee-joy. (Or heck, even just an iPad with that awesome art app that lets you paint on the screen with your fingers. That app is made of win, whatever it is.)

I used to have SW art, but I've deleted or tossed just about everything...except for one, from the ancient, creaky, melodramatic first version of my never-ending decade-plus-old fic, lol. It's not up to my current standards given that it's 12 years old, but it's not terrible either.

(Cue Whitney Houston from The Bodyguard, LOL.)

Heh...whaddya know, it even has a JJ Abrams lens flare. :p

Wonderful art, ThreadSketch—thanks so much for sharing. @};- If you like designing costumes for characters, have you tried one of those online doll or avatar generators (like www.azaleasdolls.com or this rather fun manga avatar generator from Rinmaru Games)? Just by way of warning, they do have certain... time-sink-like characteristics. ;)

And I love homemade tamales. :D I occasionally try my hand at them, though I've admittedly done a lot of the no-nos, most notably cooking them other times of year besides the winter. They are indeed labor-intensive, but oh so worth it. What are your favorite fillings for tamales? Have you and your mom ever made any with sweet fillings, or just with savory fillings? Do you have a steamer?

I'm okay with flying as a passenger; I've flown to SDCC and Dragon*Con. Don't especially love it but I don't have a phobia of it either. (Although the way air travel is now, I'm glad I don't do it anymore.) No, I've never piloted, lol, and I'm not the adventurous, thrill-seeking, risk-taking type, so I have no interest in pursuing it.

My old job in NYC sent me to their London office for two weeks, which was interesting and fun. I didn't explore a ton because I was alone and didn't want to get lost or mugged, but I did enjoy a few museums (including a film and pop culture one!) - because they're all free, which is awesome! - and did a little shopping. When I was young, I crossed over to Mexico a few times because I grew up only seven miles from the border, but Mom and I wouldn't go that far in (the town we'd go to was called Las Flores).

Consistency. This whole thing about a Story Group now - well, I know there was the LFL stamp of approval on things, the EU Holocron, etc., but it was still kind of all over the place. Self-contained stories are good, but I wish there had been more of a Master Plan for the entire scope of the EU. It's a difficult undertaking, but having a general plot and character arcs for authors to follow might have injected more of a meaningful purpose to the whole thing, instead of having some works be great, others be meh, and others be atrocious. The huge NJO arc was more plotted out, but I'd have liked that applied to the entire EU as well, starting in the 90s. (Can you imagine how epic that would have been if it'd been pulled off across almost two decades?)

Erm...do I have to pick, lol? :p Hmm, well...eh...Greeks, I guess. Because I'm unoriginal, lol.

The power to inflict empathy. Seriously. If I'm having a horrible day, or I'm sick and in severe pain, etc., and someone is being annoying or awful, I'd love to be able to just grab them and force them to feel exactly what I'm feeling for a minute or an hour. I know some folks are just heartless enough to not be affected by anything - especially if they're sociopathic - but that might go a long way to making some people shut up, apologize, or at least back off.

...Or the power to give my enemies explosive diarrhea. Either one. [face_mischief][face_laugh]

I guess the Metropolitan Museum of Art, only because I had to go there so many times for school.

No, I've never tried the doll/avatar generators, because those sorts of things wouldn't really satisfy what I want to see for the characters. I'm anal-retentive. [face_blush]

Mom prefers to use ground meats like beef or turkey because they're better at staying moist; we've noticed that using solid, pulled meat dries out more and gets a little stringy. (She's allergic to pork, weirdly, so we don't use it.) And yes, sweet golden raisin tamales are actually traditional. The next time she makes some, I'm tempted to experiment with figs and goat cheese. And yeah, you have to use steamers layered in huge, tall pots.

I know as a little kid I watched TMNT, Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, Aladdin, and Sailor Moon. As I grew up I liked CSI and Law & Order: SVU for a while, as well as sci-fi shows like Stargate SG1, The Outer Limits, etc. Now I actually don't own a TV anymore and TV bores me, lol.

Rather than specific events...just a general elevation of quality. Respect for the characters, and being creative with them without destroying their integrity. (Or insulting our intelligence.) A revival of that fun, wondrous, inspirational spirit that SW originally evoked.

Honestly, none. I believe that all things happen for a purpose, both good and evil, and the fact that we do not always understand why does not mean that it's pointless or unnecessary. I'm not God; I wouldn't know what I was doing.

If you could have any one Force power, what would it be?

This, naturally, would be different from the empathy thing because that seems like it'd be another use of Affect Mind (a.k.a. Jedi mind trick).

As fun or cool as telekinesis is, I'd prefer to just have greater insight/wisdom. I'm not a wise person and have made plenty, too many, poor decisions. I wouldn't want to know the future because I don't want to tamper with it, but just an increase in intuition.

Any other more physical power, I'd be too tempted to abuse eventually.

Well, after thinking on this some more, to rephrase my earlier answer and respond to the current question, I guess the Force power I'd find most useful and least likely to abuse would be Force sense/precognition for personal protection. I actually live in a town with a rather alarming amount of petty crimes and rape, and since I walk and take the bus Monday through Friday, Mom is always paranoid that one day I'll be assaulted or killed by some thug or hit by a vehicle. It'd be nice to have a danger sense that would tip me off to threats and give me enough time to react in defense, or get out of the way.

In real life, I'm a reasonably observant and respectful pedestrian - I'd much rather let traffic clear up first before I cross a street - but sometimes things just happen beyond our control. I don't get hung up over it.

Because SW was originally a product of its time and you can only "see" or imagine so far ahead of real-life tech, even though medical tech like bacta is practically magic, it's still...kind of clunky. For such an advanced society, it's so weird to see prosthetic limbs that are still just metal frames with wires alongside lifelike ones like the model Luke receives. (I suppose the logic behind that is budgetary reasons, in-universe?) It's mind-boggling to see that organs are now so close to being successfully 3D-printed, and serious burns can be flawlessly healed by spraying skin cells out of an airbrush gun. And I haven't even discussed nanotech.

I haven't read the Medstar novels, so there may be stuff in there that approaches those sorts of things, but when it's applicable, I wouldn't mind seeing certain aspects of SW medical tech brought up to speed with the current strides we're making or conceptualizing.

(Not that I want the characters to go through Troy Denning gorefests, LOL... :p)

The only other major fandom I had nearly as strongly as SW was DC Comics, mostly focusing on Superman. That came pretty late, around 2006, I think. Superman Returns was severely panned by fans, but that's what wound up getting me interested in reading DC (I think it was partially a reaction to my dwindling interest in SW at the time; the prequels were finished and they'd largely been a disappointment). This was the only other fandom I loved enough to bother cosplaying in, lol.

I don't understand why I've never developed interests in other fandoms, like Marvel, Doctor Who, Firefly, etc., since many fellow geeks tend to enjoy multiple fandoms. I don't dislike them, per se, they've just never hit it off with me like SW has.
