FanFic Summaries

This really does belong in the Trailers thread. Making its own thread is redundant when you can simply post shorter story summaries in the trailer thread. It is also easier for others to go to one thread for this. Extra threads that have the same purpose just get lost in the pages.

While I have seen many people posting up here trailers for their fics, they seem to be written like they would be for a movie. All novels have a summary on the back cover that makes us want to pick them up and read them. Try posting something like this for your fic. Here is what mine would look like:


A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away?

It is a time of peace and reconstruction for the denizens of the galaxy. The Yuuzhan Vong menace has been driven away, and the Jedi have been restored as the guardians of peace and justice. Future prospects are burning bright for everyone. Everyone save for one young Jedi Knight.

With the death of Anakin Solo haunting her memory and consuming her mind, Tahiri Veila has discovered that she can no longer live without the person whom she has grown to love so dearly. Traveling to the planet Myrkr, the site where his life was taken, she wishes to settle her feelings once and for all time.

When she meets up with a hero from her past, her nightmares are quieted, and she is once again happy. However, her happiness is soon lost after a serious quarrel with her friends, and together she and the man from her past seek out peace off away in the galaxy. However, the duo is soon swept up into a frightening plot conceived by an old foe, one that bodes to topple the feeble New Republic, and one that threatens to destroy the peace that Tahiri has searched so long to find...

A Hero's Love- Trial of Circumstance

 

Not a bad idea those 'trailers' that are 10 pages long are a pain in the ass, especially when you decide that you'd rather not read it.

Of course this was a very well conceived (ok so it was plainly obvious) plot to advertise your own fic but to each his own I say...and I liked your trailer.

 

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

A new rift has split the galaxy. The Union of Hasprian Emirates, having split off from the New Republic, have launched a campaign to capture a hallmark of galactic history, setting their sights on Tatooine. Controlled by a brilliant Grand Admiral and an enigmatic Viceroy, the Hasprians' new plan, mired in deception and lesser victories, seems nearly foolproof.

However, the other galactic powers, still reeling from Thrawn's last command, have banded together into a desperate, shaky alliance, held together by neccesity alone. While the Hasprian's plans remain well guarded and unkown to the Allies, they launch their own plan to retrieve an object that could end the Hasprian war effort once and for all.

Calven Y'saiah, the one man capable of journeying to a remote planet and finding the object, is the galaxy's last hope, and while he learns of his family's Jedi history, a New Jedi Order knight has to put aside his reservations toward Imperials to train him before time runs out.

The suspenseful sequel to "The Advent of War," The Past Rediscovered is a race against time and a journey through it, and the outcome could change galactic history forever...
