Niagara, ON ***FanForce "ForceBall" Softball Tournament***

Hey guys. Hoping ya'll will jump on this one and help make it a huge success.

Basically, We are trying to put together an Annual Tourney to help raise money for WP. I have been talking with a local sports store and they are willing to do up a trophy for us.
We shoudl be able to get the diamond on Rose ave in thorold for teh day. Chris's ticket should still be ok, so we are plannig on having Hamburgers/hotdogs for sale as well as pop.
I would love to see the local community get involved and help out. It would be a huge help if ppl can hand out flyers, do write-ups and see how else we can getthe word out. Ideas and suggestions are more than welcome. THere is a lot of stuff that can be done and a lot of fun to be had.

I wonder Dana for the groups with no shirts if we can maybe get some designs made and tron on shirts they bring and charge something and send that to WP too?

 

Dude if Stormtroopers can't climb stairs how are they ever going to hit the ball. Then again both Jedi and troopers are going to be sweating like nothing else.

Not sure which chapters have shirts already. Might be an idea, but might also be better left to teh chapters.

I don't think there were any plans to play in costume. But ya never know what others will do.

 

You know that I am in.
Plus I should be able to rope Steph into it.
Remember, a few of us wanted to put some personal touches on the trophy.
Is a trophy going to run much?
If it is, we could probably simply make one from scratch, or find something from Value Village to work on.

I am all for helping out. But it all depends on when and where and if I can get there...I will look into it.

 

Playing in costume is a bad idea. There is a greater posibility of someone getting hurt either running or trying to bat.

That does not mean that we can't have those not wanting/able to play in costume. Remember, we are trying to promote this as a FanForce/Star Wars Charity event. I think having some in costume is a good idea.

Those teams not playing at the time can suit up and interact with the general public, have pics taken, etc. We can even add that into the promoting.

Edit: Just an update...

It looks like we are starting to get a good responce from some of the other chapters.

Toronto is in, they are gathering players and there is even a suggestion of having practices. (Something maybe we may want to do.)

London is in, although they are a smaller chapter. Debbie suggested teaming the London members up with Toronto.

Rochester - their CR has posted the event.

 

What about wearing our YJN shirts/jackets?

 

I had assumed we would be wearing our YJN shirts for the ball game, either our old ones or the new ones that are being worked on.

Hey Tim,

Was kinda hoping you might want to jump on board and help with creating the trophy. This guy is willing to let us Custom the heck out of it. (think he just wants the business) and maybe a pic of it. So far I have seen the pillars and they rock. He wasn't able to get a "star Wars " top, but we can run with the painted action figure idea. He's more than willing to do just about anything.
The price... The origial quote... $10-30. w/engraving. Since it's Charity. If you have a bit of free time I'd love it if ou could go with me next time. Any help would rock!

And also along with what Chris said about playing Costume, Injury, and I would also be worried about Heat Exhaustion, you would get pretty toasty pretty quick running around in your Costume

Maybe Leave the Costumes up to someone who isn't playing and is supporting from the sidelines, a Mascot maybe?

 

I got your PM Dana, and I really want to help because I have one or two ideas.
Unfortunately, I am not really free until after April 7.

Plus, I think a practice or two would be a great idea.

What we really need now is equipment.


Oh... there are some MIA's we haven't heard from yet.

 

I have my own glove, plus a spare and a bat.

I would guess that those with gloves would have no objection with sharing.
So really, all we would need would be a total of 9-whatever number we plan to field.

 

I have a bat, but no glove, so I'll need to go out and buy one beforehand.
