Edge of the Empire Beta had an entire exclusive Adventure that is different from the finished products adventure. completely different 100%, never published elsewhere. thus... original content only in Beta, must have ;)

Don't worry, prices will drop for sure (just watch the Edge of the Empire Beta's offered on the 'net... But if you want to have it right now (and did not go to GenCon), you gotta pay full price!!!

Nothing of greater galactic importance if memory serves me right. Just a group of Smugglers getting a Krayt Dragon + eggs for a Hutt, during which they get into trouble with the Empire, Tusken and another Hutt.

Come to think of it--the SkySolos have taught us that story focus = lifelong misery, so maybe it's better for all the aliens and brown people that the EU doesn't care about them. Look how happy those people are.

I'm sure Del Rey has that engraved on a plaque somewhere. Probably hanging over the front door.

Oh at least Shadows of Mindor was clearly just for the fun of it, as are the Reaves novels. :)

I think that was Luceno's Millennium Falcon novel was a silent protest about making fun adventures again. Not to say that there can't be drama, or that we have to follow the story structure of Junior Jedi Knights, but I think FFG is capturing that kind of fun adventuring feel.

One would hope so, considering they're making a game.

then again they said they offer the Rebel/Scoundrel side of things because everyone wants to be the good guys... playing Imperials is possible but not intended beyond gamemaster NPCs. which is stupid. they said it is still possible to do pro-imperial stories but it needs some... stretch. with rules? or because they do nothing for pro-Imp gamers? no idea.. but that is what they said recently somewhere.

stretch the imagination a little and you could have Platt Okeefe on the Last Chance there with her Twi Lek partner (although I'm thinking he's beige colored now) and 2 paying passengers.

Considering how many people want to play Jedi and nothing else, they kind of have a point.

Pfft, FFG already had me when I saw that image of a Rebel humans, Mon Cals, Bothans, Duros, Sullustans, and Ithorians, It was like they were channeling early EU sources and WEG and tried to entice me to support them.

    It worked. :p

One could say something similar with Del Rey and novels, or Lucasarts and certain late-period video games - so, no, it was never a certainty. Although the worst case scenario would've probably been the "Decipher Treatment" - i.e. make a bare bones game around a TV/movie franchise, with lots of glossy color photos from the TV/movie, no illustrations, poor and untested rules, and zero fluff.
FFG has a excellent reputation, though, and personally I had hoped (when the rumors were flying around after WOTC lost the license) they would pick it up.

Öh the Edge of the Empire Guide itself has a somewhat different tone here often dropping hints and ideas on what to do if you want to be less then friendly people, you are playing as the fringe after all.

Platt is also not a read head. ;)
