He is doing nine of the 16 rounds this year, I think. James Allen will be doing the rest and taking over from next year permanently...I was hoping Damon Hill was gonna get into the commentary box!

Nope..won't spare you...he's the man! Only knows about F1? Also a former British Superbike Champ with 28 wins from only 3 seasons as well as winning 3 F3 races in the massively uncompetitive Lola chassis against the might of the field of Reynard cars...developed the most awesomely competitive F1 car of the nineties, won Prost and Mansell's championships for them by his ace developmental work, nearly won Arrows their first race before a 10p seal broke, brought Jordan up a level by winning their first GP in nearly ten years of trying as well as being one of the more colourful and now missed elements of the F1 field.

Pah, say what you like, but Damon plays guitar with Eddie Jordan in their post-race band and behind the scenes is/was one hell of a character...fair enough, in interviews and stuff he wasn't too charismatic, but then again, he was a very introspective person, unlike his father who was the complete opposite.

 

Damon Hill has had a personality bypass.

Notice that, despite the fact that Damon Hill only raced in just over 100 races, much less than the top ten most races above, he still gets into the top ten of race winners with 22 race wins from only seven seasons! At the end of the 1996 season he had a race to win ratio unparalleled by anyone in the sport at the time of one win in three races through his career. Even the almighty Schumacher can't boast that sort of figure!

Anyhoo...been in contact with Top Gear and the Fantasy F1 game should be up and running in the next day or two. Hopefully today, more likely tomorrow, which means Thursday, knowing the beeb!

 

The only reason he has alot of race wins is because the Williams of that year was unbeatable.

Could you imagine if Shumacher was in one of those things!

 

Possibly the same would happen...remember that the Benetton had exactly the same engine as the Williams that year, so they were near as damnit in the same equipment.

Oh, and the only reason the car was that good was because of Damon's development work throughout the nineties to that point...so in the end he deserved that car and that championship..especially considering the cheating Kraut nobbled Damon in Australia to nick the title in 94...
