    Awwwww! ~~hugs self~~ Isn't that the cutest!? I love this Sara--the sort of relaxed shoulders on Dad, and the little one (is this Nawra? :D ) all fast asleep and draped over him!! How sweet! A great rendering of fatherly tenderness (and the baby certainly feels secure--we can see that!)! Is this done in charcoal pencil here, or another type of graphite pencil? It's got a nice dark quality to it, so I was curious. I think my only critique (and don't change this one iota now--this is for future "child drawings") is that the baby's face seems a bit pointed at the chin--if you study photos of babies and toddlers you'll notice that, almost universally, the lower part of the faces (both male and female children) are very rounded, and that the noses and mouths are very tiny compared to what we normally see for adults' faces. There are wonderful photos out there via Google of little babies and small children, and you might want to collect a few for future reference (as I have a feeling you'll be doing more work like this in the future! ;) ). This is too sweet, though (it almost feels like "Mom's day off," and Dad's sitting with the little one, in his t-shirt, watching a game or something!)! Lovely feel to this one for sure!

    FF: I'm glad you like the feeling of the drawing. I will be redrawing it because you're the third person to mention the roundness of the face, and I've only heard from four people. Besides, this was just a quick thing I did in my sketchbook to have something else in there before turning it into my art teacher last week. As for the medium, it's done in pencil (can't remember which hardness at the moment), but the reason it's dark is because I adjusted levels in Photoshop.

    Love your colorings, and I'm very impressed that you can take on drawing, too. I don't have the nerve to post things I draw unless I'm totally happy with them - which I never am, so ... :p

    As for the last drawing, I would probably make baby's features a bit smaller like FF said. There's also just something about Jag's shoulders and neck that I don't quite like ... But practice makes perfect. :)

    You've got a lotta nerve, though!

    Thanks Myra. Like I said to FF, this is just a rough sketch. Once I ever find some spare time, I'm going to redraw it so I can use it for Family Album. Thanks for stopping by the art thread :)

    It'll be a perfect picture for Family Album!

    And I love all your stuff ... but I'm so impressed that you have the nerve to post a rough sketch. I just can't post a drawing until I'm totally happy with it!

    Myra: I hate posting things that are imprefect too. You just have to accept the fact that you'll never think it's perfect, so as long as you think it's good--go for it.

    And now, the Mama Jaina evolution:

    The reference picture...

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b157/sea102883/Random/reference.jpg]

    The original sketch...

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b157/sea102883/Art/P5140027.jpg]

    The original coloring...

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b157/sea102883/Art/MamaJaina.jpg]

    I knew that I wanted to change the hair, because even though I was staring at the reference picture, I totally missed what the hair actually looked at. And thanks to
    Zonoma for helping Nawra look like a baby and not a toddler for helping me to realize that the eyes needed to be lower on the face. All the changes were done thanks to that wonderful program called Photoshop...

    As I said in the story thread, Sara--this is such a sweet drawing! I love the look on Jaina's face, and the pose is so close and cozy! The reference pic is perfect for this--and your drawing is very true to it. I think, with the reference in hand, I might suggest a bit more in the way of some shading on the faces (the lighting is quite soft in the photo, so of course the shading would have to be similarly soft)--to bring out the facial contours and features a bit more, and give the drawing/painting a bit more depth--but this is such a minor critique, and wouldn't substantially change the piece as it sits right now. Just file it away for future reference! ;) I still love this, and your sharing of the "process" is wonderful! Great work--and it's such a great picture for "The Family Album!"

    Thank you FF and Idrelle. As usual, I'm too lazy for proper replies, sorry.

    Here's another FF coloring for
    Z's story, "Worth Saving"

    This is beautiful, Sara. I can't wait until Deb sees it, too! I can't believe how much you have grown with your 'crayola addiction'! The lighting, esp, is superb.

    Thank you.

    I also did a coloring tonight of FF's "Together, Forever". One without a Photoshop filter...

    Awww, Sara! These are... perfect! I love the lighting in the "Worth Saving" one and the two versions of the Luke/Mara one are... extraordinary. :D

    Oh Sara, I totally agree with Idrelle on the lighting in "In The Heart Of The Goddess:" it perfectly highlights Zonoma's "talking hands..." Just beautiful (and I really like the colors you chose for the clothing!)! "Together, Forever" is another wonderful effort--I think I like the PS filtered one better--it's a little darker, as the scene would be in an underground cavern (and was something that didn't come through in the original graphite version very well... *shrug*). Lovely, lovely! =D=

    Loved the Jag poster! Hah! Just proves that Pro-fic isn't true and cannon! :p

    Who was that green eyed, no shirt-ed hunk on the last page?

    Nice shading of the Kyp/Jaina, good focusing on the hands.

    Correct. He is an OC in my stories "The Family Album" and "Betwixt and Between". Links to the story are in my profile. He's very popular with the female readers. ;)

    Thank you LMJSfan & Jessoass.

    The following is a sketch done for the new Art Class thread here in the forum. The focus of this round of lessons is on folds and fabric:

    [face_frustrated]:_|

    I can't see it!! Grrrr.... I tried and tried, but it wouldn't come up for me (and it's usually my own blasted machine, so will just have to try again tomorrow, I guess...). I'm sure it's wonderful, Sara, and I can't wait to see it! I promise I'll keep on trying--sometimes it's specific sites, sometimes it's my browser (...I think...).

    There we go! I cleared all my temp files last night, and I think that did it--that looks great, Sara! The pose, the drapery and that great big gun look wonderful--I think my only suggestion would be to look at the ref photo again and try to see some of the darker areas on the dress as it falls from the waist: where the folds curl in, there are deeper shadows. This is one of those instances where unfocusing your vision can help you to see better--it'll show the light-dark variations more, and make it easier to see the shape of the shadowed areas, as well. It's wonderful to see you drawing some more--Art Class can be a real challenge sometimes (Han is great at choosing subjects that make me sweat... :D ;) ), but the challenges are what help to build our skills! Great work!

    This is a sketch I did today at work. I'm working this summer at a daycare with the one-year-olds, and this boy is one of my favorites. I'm going to use the sketch to be a baby Gavin Fel (son of Jag & Jaina Fel) for my story Family Album.

    Hope you like it!

    Awwwwwww!!!! **turns to jello**

    Isn't that just gorgeous?! What a sweet, beautiful drawing!! He looks so peaceful and contented, with his "bink" and his "blanky!" **more jello** I love the dark accents you used here, Sara--they're perfectly placed (eyelashes, the "bink") to emphasize the features. What a lovely, lovely drawing--you should really be very proud of this one! And you might just offer a copy to his mom--she'd probably turn to "jello" too! :D Excellent work! =D=

    Thanks so much, Deb. [:D]

    And now some colorings (the first I've done with my new, lovely tablet)...

    First: Jakob/Baby Fel

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b157/sea102883/Art/jakobcolor.jpg]

    Second: A couple of Deb's Jag drawing. The first with the regular style of coloring...

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b157/sea102883/Art/JaggedFelColor.jpg]

    And the other with some filter work. I was thinking in the DN time period with this, and I wanted two of Jag's big loves--Jaina & flying his clawcraft--to come across as faded and blurry memories...

    [image=http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b157/sea102883/Art/JaggedFelColorfiltered.jpg]

    Hope you all enjoy!
