Hoyts for me. No place can come close if it ain't at Hoyts I don't bother going..
The cinema we most often go to is the ones at the Galleria just because they're close and they're pretty good. I like going to the Regent when I can. The atmosphere is great there.
Where else can you get free pizza during a movie marathon?
I'm a loyal type of person, I love Hoyts cause I saw my first movie there and the second-SW of course. They had the first "Dolby" (sp) place in Perth and right now I go to Cannington for the very best in sound and sight.
Geez I love Hoyts-they should give me shareholders rights for 23 years loyal service LOL.
good screen, comfortable seating, digital sound, kitchen nearby.
what more could one ask?
Anywhere, as long as I have someone fun to go with. I saw What Women Want with my friends Aaron and Gemma, and we had a popcorn fight. It was cool.
I really should give my former housemate a good belt round the earhole... we went to the movie marathon on the long weekend, but because he's now down in Maddington, I got dragged down to Hoyts Carousel. $18.50 for 3 films and $8.50 for a large Coke and packet of Minties!!!!
We could have seen the same 3 films at the Regent in Midland for $10.00 and bought a large drink and Minties for $4.50!!! there's no way he can complain about driving too far cos- even the LandCruiser wouldn't use $8.50 in petrol from Maddington to Midland and return!!
At the Regent you would have gotten free pizza between the 2nd and 3rd films too.
Grizzly, it's a fact of life, if the place is great, you have to pay.
And I will stick by Hoyts till my dying breath, us Maddo people have great taste
i'm sorry, but going to a cinema inhabited by a bunch of pretentious 15 yr olds hoping Di Bowens might turn up to take their photo isn't really my scene
What you need to do is go to a movie with a bad attitude 33 yr old, that way the kids won't bother you
I prefer Greater Union myself. However I loved the La Premiere at Hoyts. That rocked. When I went there for the first time I didnt relised you could keep on eating even after you have been taken personally to YOUR seat.
I do however plan to go back there again when Lord of the Rings comes out!! I loved it!!
You've been to La Premier, SK? I'm planning on going there in a couple of weeks with some friends. We have this pass that allows us $10 off for two people, or $20 off for four people.
Sounds interesting. Where's that?
La Premier is the el swisho part of hoyts at carousel. it costs about $20 per ticket, but there's sposed to be a private foyer type thing with nibblies, and you get ushered to your seat for the movie
It's a bad thing, you get free popcorn and soft drinks etc and you can have cheeseboards and wine(costs extra of course) but they are darn comfy seats.
It's the 1st class section of watching movies and as mentioned Hoyts Caro is the only place in WA you get it.
I'd heard of something like that in Sydney but I didn't realise there was one here. Might have to check it out. Only problem is lately nothing really grabs me when I look at movie listings.
You have to see that place to believe. His my story when I went there:
I bought my tickets at the front, I had a discount of $10 as well Jedi_Nat, its the same thing you were talking about I'm sure. Anyway, we walked to the entrance of the LA PREMIERE, open the door, walked one flight of stairs, lights were running up and down the walls. When we got to the top there was a black door in front of us, we wern't sure if we were in the right place or not, so we opened the door and walked down another hallway. To our surprise was a huge lounge room, on the right was all the popcorn and drink you could have. We got our tickets checked and then as the movie started we were escorted to our seats. Now these seats are DAMN huge. You could lay down on one of these babies. It had huge back and plenty of room to stretched your feet out. IT WAS THE BEST! FIRST CLASS ALL THE WAY! WOW, I'm goin go pass out now.
Ooh, I definetely have to go now.
It would have to be at the Bunbury Grand Cinemas with that THX blasting away as the spaceships cross the screen.
Is Bunbury Grand Cinemas a official THX cinema?
Coz, I know my Currambine Grand Cinema has the technolgy there but its not a official one and I would love to experience it in one. THX cinema's are pretty rare around the world as far as I know.
I'n not sure if it does have THX sound. I know it has DTS sound but not sure on the THX. It bloody sounds like it has it anyway
If it's THX you are looking for I think cinema 1 at Hoyts Caro is certified. I can remember seeing the symbol phone and check staff should be able to confirm or deny
SM & I went with a few others to see TPM at the Currambine cinema when it first opened. It was incredible. Definitely the best sound I've heard in a cinema. It really did the movie justice to see & hear it with a sound system like that.
Yeah the Currambine cinema does have it, HOWEVER the speakers are not set up right (to much money to get it done properly) and the sound is not mastered for THX. However it is as close to what we are gonna get in Perth.
BTW, Sony has just released there 6.1 Surround System, say goodbye to 5.1 coz 6.1 will turn your home into a complete theatre!!
*throws away 4.1 speakers*
out-of-date pieces of crap... lol
I dont go to the movies for the sound quality.. i go for the atmosphere (and the movie of course) Inaloo greater union... aparently (so it says out front) Perths biggest movie complex...
anyways.. as long as i see the movie.. its good no matter where...
