Qui gon Jinn hands down most dignified and elegant death scene in all the movies

Of the main 6 films. I think Shmi, Qui Gon and Yodas death were the most sad. They were all "deathbed" type of scenes. Obi Wan and Anakin were trying to fight it. Luke was shocked, but didn't fight.

The death scenes of Yoda and Shmi are very "raw" scenes, happening in little huts, leaving "returning" Skywalkers bereft, momentarily or monumentally plunging them into existential crises.

And both have outstanding musical accompaniment.

They would have to be my serious favourites.

Conversely, my "comedic" favourites (these are "lighter" passings, at the least) might be Obi-Wan killing the acklay and Boba (just a kid in the former sequence -- weird) falling into the Sarlacc.

See how I really dig me the chiastic, fruity awesomeness of ROTJ and AOTC?

Star Wars. Star Wars at its essence.

Ol' Sids is probably the most satisfying death to go down with, but honourable mentions for:
    • Captain Needa
    • Clone 99
    • Waxer
    • Yoda
    • Ki-Adi Mundi
    • That guy who crashed his X-wing into the bridge of the Executor in Return of the Jedi
    • Biggs Darklighter
    • Trench run pilots
    • The nameless Ewok in Return of the Jedi
    • Shmi Skywalker
    • Owen and Beru Lars

It was an A-wing, not an X-wing, and his name was Arvel Crynyd.

This is a tough, tough question, because one of the things Star Wars gets right, for the most part, are deaths.

The most tragic death? Han Solo. You knew, even unspoiled, the moment he stepped onto that bridge it was over; he would be slaughtered by his own son. That entire sequence was so well crafted that it's, arguably, the best death scene of them all. Vader's death is a very close second, if not a tie.

But one SW death saddens me, surprisingly, above all others. Shmi Skywalker. Something about the way all of that went down, and PA's flawless performance, just hits me right in the feels every single time. Even more so now, having lost my own mother sense.

Palpatine without a doubt. It was the most surprising, sentimental and significant death of the entire saga in my opinion. It resonated across the entire galaxy and caused a civil war on a galactic scale. It altered the course of history in itself and brought balance to the force.

Anakin Skywalker his death always makes me shed tears.

"Just for once let me look on you with my own eyes" That is the line that starts my tears.

When he finally dies the way we hear a softer more quiet version of his theme.

Its a favorite because he finally brought balance to the Force. We see him again with his fellow Jedi.

Anakin. The few lines he and Luke exchange are as close as perfection as you could get for the scene.

"You already have, Luke. You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right." - That's when I start to lose it.

And when Anakin dies in the scene, the last notes of a peaceful version of The Imperial March just finish the scene beautifully.

Obi Wan's and Anakin's are easily the most emotional deaths, at least in my opinion.

Anakin was the best. How could it not be considering it's his saga? But that Krennic death is probably 2nd for me. Every time I see him looking up and realizing what is about to happen, I can't help but think "It's beautiful."

Is Yoda the only character in the saga who dies a natural death? His is Top 5 for me.
