Funny noise. Smart and Day saver.
I started to love him when he repairs the hyperdrive in TESB

R2-D2, he is cute but on a side note I wonder how Luke is able to understand him for example when they are on Dagobah before they have met Yoda.

Never understood why EV-9D9 was considered female. She was voiced by a man & sounds male.

Me neither, I just read that it was a female in one of those dictionaries.

I have always liked the Imperial probe droids, and the noises they make.

R2-D2 is the best and the most recent Star Wars droid was modelled on him and his personality was as good.

R5-D4; I just preferred 'his' design compared to R2-D2. with the big, flat-domed, head and reds and blues instead of just blues. I also think the R-5s are meant to be later models and this may have helped sway my then young mind.

U-3PO; loved the fact that the 3-PO droids also came in white metal, and I always preferred silver to gold.

3B6-RA-7; I just thought it looked menacing from the first moment I laid eyes on it, like every thing else in the first film, it burned a permanent image on my brain and I make no apologies for picking three droids from that film.

Honourable mention, K-3PO; white 3POs are almost as good as silver ones.

R2-D2 and C-3PO are like the Star Wars version of Spock and McCoy.
Love BB-8 too. He's just so darn cute.
I also have kind of a soft spot for the Mouse Droids. I always thought they were kind of cute-ish. More so since I saw Farscape, because I can't possibly see how they were not the inspiration for the DRDs!

What? No love for the Mouse Droid that was in the first Death Star...? I would say I'm disappointed, but to each their own.

2-1B is another one of my favorites. This guy, G2-1B7 from RO, is cool too. I like how his color scheme is like an astromech.

The Empire Probe Droid had a special place for me.
It was the thing early TESB publicity focused on. Lots of photos of it. So as a kid, to see this thing floating about got me so hyped... and then we got Tautauns, and then we got AT-ATs.... the awesomeness just overloaded.

By looking up "Star Wars droids" on Google, I discovered this little gem:
Also, I noticed that R5-D4 got a lot of love. Fun fact about him: "Aboard the Jawa sandcrawler that carried him, R5-D4 was sabotaged by the new arrival R2-D2, who wanted to be sure he would be the only remaining functional astromech that the Jawas had for sale." This is based on the Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded which is considered canon.
