CT Favorite lightsaber duel in the OT?

ROTJ. Everything about the movie was PERFECT.

 

Luke vs. Vader in ESB.

 

At first, Luke vs. Vader in ESB, but now Obi wan vs. Vader

 

Father vs Son Part II or ROTJ for me. As the first post said, it is more emotional and each crossing of the sabers has more meaning than ESB. I have to say Obi and Vader's duel in ANH is much better after watching ROTS. There is more emotion to the scene since the last time they were together was on the lava shores of Mustafar.

 

I have to say that I was getting ready to type something very, very similar to this. So, yeah. I agree.

 

I chose for ESB, because I think the choreography is great in that one and personally that's what I like about lightsaber fights in general.

 

Darth Vader vs. Obi-Wan in Episode IV.

If you would have asked me before ROTS came out, then Luke vs. Vader in Episode VI.

For the build up, the score and the end. It's such an awesome emotional climax to the saga. My favourite moment is right at the very the end when Luke looks at his hand and realises what he has come to.

 

^Ditto. It's all great, but I esp love everything from when Luke shouts "Never!" to when he throws down his saber.

 

I don't 'like' any of them. However, as far as meaning and impact, RotJ.

 

ROTJ duel. The scene when Luke goes Djem So on Darth is epic!

 

For me, it's Vader vs. Luke in ESB.

 

Vader vs Luke ESB is a great duel. I particularly like how Vader uses one handed techniques (even parrying and blocking) while Luke uses two handed style.

 

The only duel in OT that I really enjoyed was the final duel in RotJ. But my favorite duel of all time is definitely Obi-Wan's and Anakin's duel in RoS.... Call me modern, but it was so emotional. Ewan McGrego gave such a believable performance.... I would be lying if I said I wasn't crying by the end of that duel

 

I would say that the duel between Vader and Luke at the close of Return of the Jedi is superior to the other two in all aspects.

 

So difficult to say between ESB and ROTJ, but I will go with the duel in ROTJ. So much emotional stake in the duel.

 

ROTJ wins for emotion, but the sheer 'coolness' of TESB duel gives it the gold medal for me. The semi-silhouetted lighting, the weird atmosphere in the carbon chamber, the sound and wall to wall bad ass lines from Mr Vader!

 

After seeing how the older Jedi and Sith fought in the PT i think Obi-Wan v Vader doesn't hold the same enjoyment for me as it had before. I still love the verbal sparring but the actual sword fighting just looks laboured now. There's nothing wrong with the length but as we've seen even elderly Jedi can use the Force to increase their speed and mobility. Could and should have GL used the technology and make the duel more spectacular that he used in other Special Edition edits?

 

As much as I hate to give the fame-bloated ESB any credit, I'd say the duel there was the best one. The choreography was excellent, and it had a grand scope -- a multi-stage nature, in an interesting environment -- that we wouldn't see again until the prequels. The ROTJ duel was nearly as good, though.

Luke v.s. Darth Vader (TESB)

The setup, the lighting, the music, the shock reveal

 

ROTJ, as it has the emotion and most visually appealing one on one sword choreography. ANH duel is nicely done but a bit too stripped down for a big space opera, while the ESB one has great tension and atmosphere but is less about the actual duel for me than Vader toying with Luke in a haunted house-like setting.

 

I think the Luke VS Vader in the ROTJ was my Favorite Duel because Luke knew Vader was his Father . and my second favorite would be Obi-wan and Anakin duel in ROTS .
