PT Favorite PT quotes?

I just noticed that there's a strong parity between these little speeches.

The mother, and then the father, prostrating to a societal elder / figurehead and begging to be unified.

Funny how both Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan said that line to their respective apprentices when faced with a massive disagreement.

 

The PT really has some great quotes in it, belying the idea that Lucas is a weak writer when it comes to crafting dialogue.

RotS in particular has some great quotes in it; in addition to the lines I already mentioned, you've got the following:
"We have a job to do, Anakin. Try not to upset him."
"Good. Twice the pride, double the fall."

 

All of the dialogue between Kenobi and Anakin post limb severing. So emotional. So good. I loved it all.

 

Here's one I guarantee you no-one has given any real thought to:

"You mean *I* get to go with *YOU* on your starship?!"

Because...

It's not Qui-Gon's starship, is it?

The lunacy of Darth Vader begins with a falsehood. Heh. False HOOD.

"He was deceived by a lie."

Does Qui-Gon bother to set Anakin straight in that scene?

"Sorry, Anakin. It's not really my starship. Jedi aren't allowed possessions. They are stewards only. The ship belongs to a queen I'm escorting to the capital of the Republic."

He kinda skips over that -- despite the fact that he was the one to give Anakin this false impression in the first place ("My ship will be the entry fee") -- and, instead, warns Anakin that training to become a Jedi is "not an easy challenge".

Maybe Anakin was thinking, "Yeah, but I get to keep the ship, right?

Wrong, Anakin. Wrong.

A nifty piece of writing by Lucas, I hope some of you will agree.

You're wrong. It's definitely "your".

Though, the proper line is:

"You mean, I get to come with you on your starship?"

Come, not go. And there should really be a comma after "you mean".

Therefore, fixed.

 

Oh, well that's how I always heard it. I haven't watched the film in a while though.

 

Paying close(r) attention to the films -- and watching them multiple times -- is a rewarding experience.

Don't really have a favourite, to be honest, but in some ways I enjoy some of the more "mundane wisdom" a lot.

"Your focus determines your reality."

"Dreams pass in time."

"If droids could think, there'd be none of us here, would there?"

"You're focusing on the negative, Anakin. Be mindful of your thoughts."

There such a simple truth to them which captivates me somehow.
Especially "Dreams pass in time" is more meaningful than it seems, particularly in the context of the films. We all carry our own burdens, sometimes they even find their way in our dreams...but they pass in time. Good times, bad times, it's only temporary...a never-ending circle.

 

"I love democracy. I love the Republic."

7 words, but McDiarmid absolutely nailed it. Almost every time I see AOTC I end up cheering during this speech

 

His eyes are especially creepy during that scene.
