Just getting to spend some time under the stars with old friends again. Every single Star Wars movie is dear to me because of the different points of life they came at me and how I felt seeing them in the theater for the first time.

The biggest thing I like about the existence of the ST however is that I will get to take my son to see them, and he will be the same age I was (5 years old) the first time I saw that yellow scroll over the star field. That is going to be so cool. I already have plans to get him out of school that day to take him to a matinee on opening day. I'll probably watch him more than the movie so I will be sure to see it at midnight the day before!

    The Legacy comics being erased.

Seriously, the current furthest future point in the EU has the Jedi Order getting purged again and ends with Imperial dominance of the galaxy. **** that.

Getting the 9 part saga that's been teased for over 30 years
    Getting bonus SW films/stories indefinitely
    Chatting/debating/agreeing/disagreeing/arguing/analysing/over-analysing with other JCers
Taking my son to his first midnight screening (he'll be 15 when it's released and we've already set it in stone :D - my daughter will be 20 and she's welcome to join us, but I don't think she will :()

The looming awesomeness of late 2014 and the rest of 2015 both on here and in RL.

Favorite thing about the ST? For better or worse, seeing a new take on the franchise that I love. Even if I hate it, it will be fascinating seeing the interpretation of Star Wars from somebody from the outside that grew up as a fan.

Increased likelihood that the next Star Trek will have a different director than the previous two films.

My favorite thing about the ST's existence(besides the fact that we're getting new live action Star Wars movies)?

New planets, new weapons, new vehicles, new characters....basically new everything.

    Carrie Fisher as Leia.
    Mark Hamill as Luke.
    Harrison Ford as Han.
    R2
    Threepio
    Chewie
    John William's Score.
    Fresh direction.
A story that is totally unburdened from an already preset trajectory.

Having a new trailer description to be excited about. I still remember the awesomeness of reading the written description of the TPM teaser. Descriptions of the following two films were still kind of exciting but the excitement was somewhat diminished by having an idea of what they would look like. One great thing about Disney/JJ's secretiveness is that we will probably have no idea whatsoever what kind of visuals we'll be in for, before the trailer description hits the net!

Probably the biggest thing for me is this.

Assuming I have a kid within the next 7 years, it will be amazing to take him/her to see one of these movies. Just like how I went as an 8 year old to see phantom menace, and how my parents went to see the original Star Wars as 8 and 10 year olds back in 77. It's amazing how these movies were timed like that.

The NJO was in better shape than what happened to the PT Jedi Order in ROTS. And the Empire, the GA and the Jedi have tri-share of the galaxy. Not complete dominance of the galaxy.

Just the fact that there's going to be much more Star Wars in my life. It's almost like having a lover return from the dead but without the whole wanting to eat your flesh angle.
