I was thinking Winston Churchill, if only for is wittiness factor if those tales are true.

I suppose he was a doofus, but a funny one.

 

I suppose I'm almost certainly starting a debate with E_S here, but IMO, Churchill was a bumbler of the first rate whose only redeeming quality was the ability to churn out inspiring speeches and funny anecdotes every so often.

 

He was like Homer Simpson but more inspirational, I think you're trying to say then...

 

Yeah, except Homer doesn't kill anyone that doesn't reanimate next episode.

 

Winston Churchill should've been a comedian instead of a prime minister.
But you gotta love him

 

Don't be too harsh on him. He was responsible for the pure brilliance of the Dardanelles campaign in the Great War, wasn't he?

I don't think there has been any historical figures as funny as Winston Churchill. Attila the Hun was funny, but only in cartoon form on the Simpsons

 

Yeah, he was the mastermind there. Brilliant work, I'm sure you'll agree.

 

Yeah, great work, Winnie. Wasn't he the bloke who wouldn't let our troops in North Africa leave to return to Australia so we could defend ourselves from the Japanese during WW2?

 

He was also someone who, unlike Mr Chamberlain, saw Hitler for what he was. Let's try and not be too black-and-white?

He would have been interesting at a dinner party thats for sure. And Ender is right- there were too few people in that era who were concerned with what was transpiring after the reichstag fire etc.

I wanna learn more about Jack London. He seemed like an interesting bloke. I think he committed suicide, and was depressed for about 3 years. I shall have to do more research...
