ST Favourite sounds of TFA

This is really weird- but the bubbling sound that the portion bread makes when Rey starts it up then it expands. So...satisfying to me. Lol.

When she opens up the chest to Luke/Anakin's saber, it makes this old rickety noise and clinks. I like that.

Also, the crackling of Kylo's saber. I think someone said this on the first page. But it's uninhibited! It sounds dangerous; like it could betray him at any time.

 

BB8 voice...

The sound of the Tie fighter makes leaving the hanger during Poe and Finns escape and Kylo's lightsaber.

 

The sound of Kylo's blade, almost making it seem sentient (like Stormbringer).

 

I love the music when Rey meets Luke at the end of the film, while she's rising the hill and finally gets to the top... and the eyes of Luke that hide the story that will come in the next movies... very touching

For the most part I am having trouble remembering most of the sounds. The only ones I can are those associated with BB8 and Kylo Ren. I loved the ones for Kylo, not so much for BB. The lightsaber was perfect, and his voice modular was also really good.

 

Mootsy are you talking about the opening scene?

 

I think BB-8's happy excited sound when Rey finally allows him to come with her.

 

Or his "sad" sounds when Finn tells him that Poe is dead. And then him being positively giddy when he sees Poe alive later on.

 

Oh yeah, BB-8's cute beeping sounds are indeed memorable... He's definitely the new version of R2-D2!

And let's not forget the "piu piu piu" sounds the Falcon and TIE Fighters make, when firing their laser weapons at each other...

I thought the rathtar's sounded great, actually. Right up there with the rancor.

 

The nice little chime version of the SW theme at the very end of the end credits.

I like the sounds of BB8 and R2D2. I'll think of more sounds sometime after the movie comes out on DVD/Blueray.

 

Almost all instances of force push in the prequels feature a rumble. Also Yoda and Dooku at end of AOTC have heavy low bass. Even Luke force choking the guards in ROTJ were amped up in the SE. I remember hearing it when Vader throws debris at Luke on Bespin as well.

As for TFA, the mind assault/push was more prolonged and thus more noticeable, but it felt very much like it belonged to me. Favorite TFA sound for me was Ren's saber..... Just really seemed to fit naturally.

 

dunno if it quite counts but the sound of Rey kicking the dude in the head when they try to grab BB-8 ("OY!" *kick*) makes me laugh.

also a good clunky sound is Phasma's armour when she looks up in surprise when Han suggests tossing her in the trash compactor. Christie snapping her head up as a really clunky, bulky, awkward clambering sound which is as close as you can get to stromtrooper expressing surprise. It's like this person is just someone stuck in awkward armour about to be tossed into the garbage and an even more awkward situation.

 

I was just thinking of making a thread like this the other day - thanks OP!

My personal favourites:

- Kylo's saber - love the warped but still recognisable sound of a saber. Very memorable.
- Rey's gun on Takodana. Like the shrillness of it. Reminded me of Padme's blaster in TPM.
- BB-8's noise as he tumbles around the corridor during the Falcon chase - they got the expression just right on that.
- Chewie's roar as Han dies. Not only is it a heartbreaking sound full of agony and horror, it also sounds a little bit like he's roaring "HAAAAN!" which is just genius.
- The jump-shock of the lightsaber ignition sound as Rey touches it and the vision. Neat way to start such a reference-heavy scene.

 

noticed that finn's medical bed monitor has the same sounds, heartbeat, etc as in the ep 3 padme/anakin scene.
