I voted for Endor, but it's a difficult decision because most of the battles have individual merits...perhaps, save for Naboo... :p

Some of the EU ones are great, particularly those which encourage more involvement by readers (because the battles are not seen from afar, but moreso from the close experience of characters.) I would say authors like Stackpole and Allston (IMO) do the best battle sequences.
Although, reading it and understanding it are far more difficult...

I voted Endor, because it was far less "wow look at teh colours!!11!" like the prequels have been.

I voted for Hoth- The walkers, The Trenches, The Tauntauns. The music in that scene is very cool, although I love the piece when the rebel fleet come out of hyperspace into endor, and the battle erupts... Yay John Williams!

(best John Williams music: Raiders of the Lost Ark- the truck chase)

I voted Endor. It's the best space battle to date...and there's NO cg.
The logistics behind shooting that many real elements on a blue screen then using a optical projecter to composite them is just beyond massive...so I chose it simply off the achievement that it is.

As far as content, I would go with Yavin. Seams more like the military to me...anyhoo.

Battle of Hoth, aside from the tactical inconsistencies, it looks just great up on screen.

I am painfully torn between the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Coruscant. The traditionalist in me wants to go with Hoth, because it was there first and so emotive. The little boy in me wants to go with Coruscant because it's so shiny and so very pretty.

We do only see Coruscant as a peripheral battle as Obi-wan and Anakin (who, amazingly, doesn't cry once during the battle!) fly towards the flagship of the Separatists.

The broadsides were cute but the naval armchair historian in me wonders about what constitutes a ship of the line in Star Wars... :(

Endor has two levels to the "Battle" though, in which one cannot be won without the other (the Shield generator)

So yes- very good- and pivotal as it is the rebel's last stand!

The battle of Coruscant is awesome, when looked at from its two parts (1: Last few parts of Clone Wars Season 3 (Volume 2), and 2: The opening of RotS). Yoda and Mace fighting the Droids was awesome. (Clone Trooper: "Who's got the left flank?" Clone Commander: "The Jedi.")

But my vote goes to the 3-way Endor Battle (Han and co on Endor, The Death Star attack, Luke/Vader/Palpatine).

Battle of Endor. Not only does it have the Millennium Falcon screaming around between vessels, Wedge, the Death Star flyswatting ships, Nien Numb (heheheheheheheh!) and suicide dives onto Imperial ships, but it also has Lando Calrissian wilfully disobeying orders, arguing with a superior officer, and what seems to be a Rebel commando on his crew who has no business being airborne. :D

yeah- Who was that guy? I suppose if he wasn't on one of the Falcon's guns he must have been there to either fix up the ship with a hammer or something or a soldier on hand in case they boarded a Star Destroyer. (pesky tractor beams!)

with the exception of Stackpole and Alston I found the EU battles to be very confusing.

What is the point of a very complicated space battle if you can't SEE it? You try to descirbe a complicated space battle in a simple way, and if you don't do this you lose the reader and end up having the battle passages skipped.

    Like in TTT.

But I voted for Corry as I like Obi

Zahn's battles were brilliant, they just weren't as light and fluffy as Stacky's.

By the way, I read Wraith Squadron, which was allegedly funny, and didn't laugh once. What were the funny bits people?

I think Allston has a good sense of humour. Besides, one person's good joke is another person's crap joke.

I don't think it's funny either, but the author is probably having a good laugh about it :)
