"Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

This is obviously what Yoda tells "annie"

About the only thing that bothers me here is that in ESB Luke tells Yoda he isn't afraid and Yoda replies with...

    "You will be....you will be."

If fear is the path to the darkside, why would Yoda want to intentionally scare Luke?

He doesn't want to scare Luke but he knows that it is inevitable.

Experiencing fear and giving in to it are two different things.

He needs Luke to first experience real fear so he can teach him how to keep from giving in to his fears. pretty circular logic, I know, but it works. Luke was able to avoid giving in completely.

Well remember Luke flirted with the Dark Side quite a lot..in A New Hope (death of his parents), ESB (the end scene, leaving Dagobah), ROTJ (the whole end where he strikes Vader down)...so I think its just foreshadowing of whats to come.

It's also got a lot to do with controling your emotions, everyone expereinces fear, it's natural. The difference is controling it

"You have controlled your fear, now release your anger."
