Abq February 2005 Meeting

Hey all!

A week and a half, and the February meeting is upon us. Items on the agenda:

... I'm not sure... The usual, I suppose.

- More questions about t-shirts and patches
- Midnight Toy Release
- April's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk
- Any C3 discussion?
- Costume discussion?
- Movie plans?

We'll just make it up as we go along. As usual...

- Oh yeah, concerning the signage and stuff that bobasparxx has ... he has previously posted that we can rummage through it if we want. He also proposed selling the stuff on ebay and donating the proceeds to charity. We could talk about this...

- Star Wars Radio Dramas...

- Star Wars Miniatures Gaming session? Wook?

How long do the meetings usually last?

 

usually the boring meeting stuff only 30 - 60 minutes. Then of course it degenearates from there into pure randomness...we have to be out of the library by 4 though. Doesn't mean we can't continue at another of Albuquerque's fine establishments though...

Happy Year of the Rooster! 4072 is going to be a busy year for Mos Alba and probably one of the most exciting!

Seriously, gauging from our January meeting, there's a few things to do this year, not most importantly, catching the last of the Star Wars movies. EVER. *sigh* It'll be a sad day come May 20th. Rumors are flying everywhere that Star Wars will continue in the televised medium, so we'll see what happens!

January Meeting

Many topics were discussed at the January meeting. For official business, we voted on and adopted our official Charter. This will soon be posted on the message boards as a sticky thread where everyone will have access to it. Any changes that need to be made must be brought to the CRs first. And speaking of CRs, since nobody volunteered to lead this crazy band, wook (Michelle Taylor) and brotherhalo (Bob Tyrrell) are continuing in their roles again until January 2006...

As far as other business, we discussed the upcoming events for the year. Forgive me if the list isn't complete, since I don't have my notes with me... Included, but not limited to:

It's time for another monthly meeting! We'll be descend upon the Cherry Hills Library Meeting Room again for February 20th. Here's the info for the meeting:

MEETING TOPICS
Well, there might not be much to really talk about at this meeting. We expect some new members to show up, as well as some of our neighbors from the south! Yes, Andrea, Mandy, and some friends are going to be up here for the meeting! Okay everyone, say "yay!"

A few things that we do need to discuss:
- Possibly changing meeting dates to Saturday - if this is done, we may not need to abandon the library for the summer...
- Lobo Anime & Comics sponsored Toy Show may be scheduled for March 19th
- Selling some Star Wars signage on eBay to raise money for charity
- Radio Dramas
- T-shirt designs
- Patch designs
- Star Wars Miniature gaming
- Scheduling regular costume workshops
- Library Day in May/June timeframe
- Free Comic Book Day in May (weekend before RotS)
- Whatever else comes up (I know I'm missing more here)

Okay, it's more than I thought. I expect this meeting to probably be even more chaotic than the last one. But we'll muddle through it all and I'll forget to cover something, as I usually do.

If anyone has any cool props or something to share with the group (you know, SHOW AND TELL!!!) please do! If you are bringing any prop weapons, please make sure to br

 

I think my wife and I are going to try and make it. It just depends on what happens after church that day. But we are really going to try. Oh and I saw there were some people from Socorro coming. I was just wondering (being a socorroian) are you guys townies or techies? Lol

 

Socorro? I don't know anyone here from Socorro. I'm a former Techie, though.

 

hmmm I must have been dreaming or something lol.

 

"Socorrians" <--sound pretty cool. Almost something from an EU novel. Actually, isn't there a planet in the EU like Socorria or somthin'?

Mandy & Andrea are coming up from Las Cruces (Go Aggies! )

 

Yep! We are coming, and I think 4 of us Aggies will be attending.

 

It seems there will be quite a few people from out of town there this weekend. Nate and myself will be there from Farmington.

Looking forward to it.

from way down south those (aggies) just kidding. and Farmington represent we are going to have a great time on the toy release and the movie release this

Well, seeing as how I'm posting... we did make it back safely. However, my throat is killing me, we sang music from the Phantom of the Opera and the Lion King a capella.

 

That must of been priceless

 

Yeah, I bet you didn't know that I have the ability to be a soprano all the way down to a baritone!

I had a blast down in Albuquerque. I really am glad I got to go.

 

That was a awesome meeting! I am glad everyone got to come!

 

I had an awesome time, too! and thanks for being so open and supportive about the idea of andrea and I starting one down in the border land

it was cool getting to meet you all too!

Wow guys! We had 31 people according to the log sheet - but my guess with the rugrats/younglings was somewhere pushing 40. I am truly awed by the turnout - especially from our friends both north & south. I hope you all enjoyed our bit of chaos...I think we definitely have some momentum here to carry us through Episode 3 and beyond. We have some cool things coming up in the next months, so keep posting and checking things out. And always feel free to contact myself or Bob (Grand Master Pooba RSA and all if you have any questions or suggestions.

We liked the meeting so much... we may come up for the next one. It's right before our Spring Break, so it's reasonable.
