Hey guys, last last last minute change in plans...there's going to be a reporter and a photographer at our sewing club meeting today and I don't know when they are going to show up, but the current head seamstress is off at a PT conference which leaves me in charge. We MAY be done in time for the GM, but I can't be sure.

Stacky - I'll give you a call when we're done if its before four, or you give me a call before you head out (whichever comes first)?

Podcast? Of?

 

This actually serves a double function, now I think about it ... since we didn't have anyone taking notes, it'll serve as the meeting notes for this ... meeting.

But it was actually a suggestion Kevin (fatpants) had via proxy: we could record our more structured meetings (GM, book club, possibly PCMN) and post them as podcasts for those who missed the meeting or moved away. I liked the idea and sorta ran with it. The one I have now is a trial version, so obviously later episodes will have more effort put in. Maybe. But I set up my computer and hit record and when I got home I just adjusted the volumes a little, and here we are!

I'm working on uploading it to a free hosting site right now.

 

TEH PODCAST! warning no under-13s

 

If we are going to podcast, we need to find a place away from the nerds. JMJ said it best as we moved to the front of the store, "I hate NERDS!!!" If those tables are going to stay in the front of CQ, maybe we can check with Jim about just sitting up there. The back is fine when we are not recording as nerds bring great moments of laughter (like gay sounding ringtones), but the nerds make recording a chore.

 

I agree. It was pretty difficult trying to adjust volume levels when the spikes in soundwave sometimes meant us laughing and sometimes meant those douches being loud with their hideous semi-moustaches.

 

You know, since the recording is only for the benefit of members who couldn't make it, podcasting it may be overkill. If someone could host it, a download link is all anyone would need.

 

It's basically the same

This way there's just an RSS that makes it easier.

 

I know the mechanics behind a podcast, Stacky.

I'm saying we don't need many of the features like stats, etc.. If there's no cost involved, then it's moot anyway.

 

I really liked the idea. Sorry that I could not make the meeting.

Collecting Club Update

We need dates as they are currently in flux
The ?08 wave 1 has started to hit the shelves. These are hard to find as the older runs are still on the shelves and moving slowly.

Yodapimp?s coin album is nearly complete

The new figures seem to be a mix of ROTS and the animated stuff. They are also in the bubble cards which makes it rough on the collectors to store.

There was a bit on CNN with Hasbro. Someone had a preproduction copy of the new AT-TE.

Don?t get Stacky started on ringtones and pyramid schemes.

Wave 3 will be a cool Clone Wars assortment. The release will be pushed back until fall. Then that will be mostly it until Clone Wars comes out.

It will be an expensive year

Costuming Club Update

Talked about 12? figure clothes.

No info on a group costume project as yet.

WebMaster Update

Capnfatpants has registered the club with several networking sites. This will get our name and word of our events out there. We already have the Myspace for the pervies who think that we?re all 12-year-olds.

There is to be no feasting on human flesh during the meeting.

-At this point I must note that the sound quality is somewhat lacking throughout the entire podcast and you can hear preadolescent gamers and those guys my age that consort with them in the background. There is a great deal of the conversation that is missed.-

The discussion takes off on another rabbit trail this entertaining jaunt is a discussion about some hideously fat guy buying Playboys. Apparently this fellow has really dry hands-at least he?s not using Jergens.

Book Club Update
Fury was the topic of the last discussion.
The next book will be out in a few weeks

The new Legacy of the force book written by Karen Travis will be out soon.

Then follows much muffled conversation about someone being distracted by fangirl?s(?) boobs and then another rabbit trail. (I really wish that I could have made it to the meeting)

Fatpants is donating a copy of Darth Vader, Dark lord Rising and a poster for the raffle. JMJ thinks it may be signed.

John Alvin has died. He did the CIV poster.

We need more stuff for the raffle.

Each SIG should take the next few months and work on what they would like to put in their respective portions of the booth. These should include some general information about the group.
