So what do Victoria's citizens think about Melboune's newest landmark. It is designed to be a kind of Yuppie hangout, and cultural center. Personally I don't really mind it, but would rather see more skyscrapers emerge and take their place in our skyline.

I'm not sure what I want to call it yet... I flew over it on Thursday and was thinking

What is all that shiny blue-greenm thing that looks like some kind of rare mineral sticking up through Flinder St. Station?

I should have been paying more attention to flying the aircraft than looking at it. My bad.

    Huggard bless the AAFC. ;)

I'm not really a big fan of it...it will forever look like it was only half-finished, IMHO.

Which Premier approved it's construction? Was it Kennet or Bracks? I remember that Kennet wanted to put a theme park on the Docklands and let Grollo build the world's tallest skyscraper. If only this had happened.

Still maybe we could get used to the square, just as we've gotten used to Colonial stadium, sort of.

Not sure, but whoever approved the plans deserves to be slapped.

No matter how bad Federation Square is, it cannot surpass the disgusting freak of architecture that is Federation Arch aka Pick up sticks arch.

Kennet approved it... Bracks slashed the funding for it... loving that change to Labour...

I was going to bring that up in an earlier post but the thought of it made the bile rise in my stomach [face_plain]

And we've got the 'wind features' at Docklands to look forward to yet...

Who the hell's in charge here!?!
At this rate there's no way we'll hold on to our title as World's Most Liveable city!

I think our greatest landmark would have to be that gigantic seagull on the docklands... we've got one in frankston too!!!
Who would have dreamt up that useless eyesore?

Ooh, toughie...I don't mind it, but I'm more concerned about its worth...

Firstly, Grollo Tower was cancelled at his[Grollo] own accord rather than government cutting - it was a fairly ambitious venture right from the beginning that, in retrospect, would have done very, very well in the art of persuasion should it have been constructed. Too many problems, budget included.

As for the federation square? Why not convert it into a giant skate park rather than another gallery celebrating our heritage(which is not much, really): that would get youths involved and make it all worthwhile.

What a good idea JE! Federation Square: Forging our Youth into a Future!!

We could hold workshops on wood chopping, irrigation and farming methods, send them out bush for a couple of years, train them in firearms and install a truck rally centre. Fantastic!!!

We could have tourists bring their kids in for a Mandalorian education, and boost the economy!

Of course we would need a kiosk as well, where the kids would settle for nothing less the wood fired wood, JE.

I'm sure Darth_Reign doesn't want this thread to turn into a Mandalore Rambler :D

Here yee, here yee. Come see the eigth wonder of the world. The only building in existence that looks like its been hit by a terrorist attack, but is actually meant to look that way!...

That's all I can say about it. Kennet certainly left his mark... or should I say, stain on the city. As if Jeff's shed wasn't enough.
