I think Fed needed that set. He's looking a little worn right now. Stellar match all around though. We're lucky to get this.

I must admit, Federer's baseline half-volleys are exceptional

i can't decide if what i'm watching is federer channeling his inner GOAT and taking it to another level when he needs to, or if it's Djoko showing us why he's never going to be in the same conversation as roger and rafa because of his inability to finish off opponents. maybe a mix of both?

maybe a mix of both. Perhaps. but Djokovic is no wilting daisy. No one has ever channeled a crowd's energy against him the way he can.

I don't get the hatred to Djokovich/love to Federer. Novak is a phenomenal player and a really really nice guy. Federer is a miserable ****

They're both legends, classy, and great to their fans. Giving us a great match.

Even the commentators are at it. Everything Federer touches is golden. Anything Djokovich does well is 'ah, Federer couldn't get there'

Djokovic is my favorite player and like heels said, he's a legend. I don't get why the crow seems to almost entirely favor fed, but I do have to admit that this match has made me respect Feds greatness where I haven't before

Oh Roger has played brilliantly in this game, no doubt. And Novak doesn't seem on full strength. And you can't ask for more than a 5-setter in a Wimbledon final. Definitely the best two players in the tournament. I just don't like the sycophantic nature of the crowd and presenting team.

If that was Federer's last gasp, then it was glorious. Congratulations to Novak.

now the Federer era is over. Great match!

glad he hasn't retired. If you can take Djokovic to 5 sets in a majors final, you need to be playing the game.

Note to Serena Williams. THAT is how you take a defeat.

Another thing I like is that Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic all are pretty close - especially Fed and Nadal. Pete and Andre never were, and I don't think either Connors or Borg liked McEnroe.

Makes the end of these great finals a little easier - the loser is disappointed, but they're losing to a friend.

to be fair no one really liked connors either, and borg wasn't really close to anyone. lendl wasn't exactly friendly either. that whole era was just a lot more contentious.
