Vancouver FF Activity #5: An AOTC DVD Screening Party.

Here is the official thread pertaining to our Fifth Activity as an official Vancouver FF Chapter: an AOTC DVD Screening Party at my house. If you want to bring any of your friends and/or family, please feel free to do so, as my house is your house.

In addition, as I will be purchasing the [i]LOTR: FOTR[/i] DVD on Tuesday too, we can definitely check out its extras also. Lastly, [b]Sean[/b] will be bringing his [b]GameCube[/b], complete with games such as [i]SW: Clone Wars[/i] and [i]SW: Rogue Leader[/i]. Thus, it promises to be a most enjoyable afternoon. [face_wink]

[u]2. [b]When[/b]:[/u] From 02:00-05:00 PM on Saturday, November 16, 2002.

[u]4. [b]Price[/b]:[/u] No price. But I do recommend that all of those who attend, bring some snacks for everyone, as this will be a sort of ?[i]pot-luck Activity[/i].? [face_wink] If you want to bring something in particular, please feel to post what you want to bring on this thread.

[u]6. [b]Transportation[/b]:[/u] For our younger members, I am more than willing to provide transportation for you (a ride); I just need 48 hours advance notice, so that I can finalize my schedule and make the necessary arrangements beforehand.

OMG! I just got home from Future Shop, where I purchased the AOTC and LOTR: FOTR DVDs! I so want to open them right now, as they?re right here and I?m right here. But I can?t. I must learn self-control. I must hold out till Saturday; who, amongst you, think I have the will-power to hold out till Saturday? Should we start taking bets?

 

Well...I've lost.

I got the VHS version an hour ago (after hunting all across town to find a place that had it) and started watching it the second I got home.

I don't think you can do it, Dan.

 

Yeah, I just watched the dvd too (but i won't watch the extra's).

Despite the temptation, I haven?t caved yet. I?ve managed to content myself by watching the [i]TPM[/i] DVD for the 300th and 301st times. [face_laugh] Also, I watched the [i]LOTR: FOTR[/i] DVD yesterday; it is awesome, especially the extra footage. [face_wink]

Lastly, I've got plenty of soft drinks and chips for everyone; so no need to bring those. But if you've already bought them, no worries. [face_wink]

Dan, you know enough about me by now to know that patience is not one of my strong suits. If I were patient at all, I would've waited till Wendsday to pick it up at Zellers for a much cheaper price, and saved myself a trip.

Sorry I had to leave so early, but at least I watched it when I got home.

 

5. The Post-Activity Report: An AOTC DVD Screening Party on 16/11/02.

On Saturday, Tipoca City held its Fifth Activity: an AOTC DVD Screening Party. The following GV JCers were in attendance:

3. Jedi_Ulic_Qel-Droma.
4. MASTER_OBI-DAN.

Personally, I really had a lot of fun on [b]Saturday[/b] and I want to thank everyone for attending. In terms of highlights, [b]Alex[/b], [b]Sean[/b] and I began the afternoon watching the [i]deleted scenes[/i] from the [i]AOTC[/i] DVD. Of all of them, my favourite [i]deleted scene[/i] was the one which [b]Rick McCallum[/b] described as having ?[i]a lot of yearning[/i]? in it. [face_laugh] Also, we could not believe that [b]Ben Burtt[/b] happened to inadvertently drop one of the biggest [b]Ep. III[/b] spoilers during one of the intros: it was absolutely brutal, I can?t believe the [b]LFL [/b] DVD Production Team missed it. [face_sad]

Then, [b]Antonio[/b] joined us. For those of you who haven?t met him yet, [b]Antonio[/b] is, without a doubt, a great guy. He also brought along his laptop and some sweet [b]SW[/b] memorabilia: most notably, the [link=http://www.masterreplicas.com/starwars/ProductsAnakinFXSaber.asp?sid=]Anakin Skywalker FX Lightsaber[/link]. This was very cool. [face_cool]

Then [b]Alex[/b] and [b]Sean[/b] partook in some spirited duels in [i]SW: Clone Wars[/i]. After which, [b]Christine[/b], [b]Michael[/b] and [b]Colin[/b] joined us. At this time, we watched [i]AOTC[/i] in all its digital glory. All the while, we munched on snacks and drank soft drinks; [i]big props[/i] to [b]Sean[/b] for bringing donuts/cookies and [b]Antonio[/b] for bringing some [i]SunChips[/i]. Also, thank you to [b]Sean[/b] and [b]Christine[/b] for both bringing their [b]GameCubes[/b] and respective games. [face_wink]

After [i]AOTC[/i], we finished the evening by playing a few more [b]GameCube[/b] games. Highlights included watching [b]Michael[/b] being chased by [b]Alex[/b] in a duel in [i]SW: Clone Wars[/i] and watching [b]Michael[/b] repeatedly beat both [b]Alex[/b] and [b]Colin[/b] in [i]Wrestlemania 8[/i] with a chair, while they were both down on the mat in a "[i]hardcore rules[/i]" match. [face_laugh]

All in all, it turned about to be an absolutely fabulous afternoon and evening. Thank you to everyone for taking time out of their busy schedules to join us. [face_wink]

 

Sounded like so much fun, I despertly hope that I can make the next one!

We're planning our DVD screening party for this coming Saturday, but we're still hammering out the location.

Where is the Ep.III spoiler, so that we can avoid it? Some of our members really want to stay spoiler-free, and I'd like to respect that.

The spoiler is in one of [b]Ben Burtt?s[/b] remarks in the [i]introduction[/i] to the [i]Eighth Deleted Scene: [b]Anakin[/b] and [b]Padmé[/b] on Trial[/i]. [face_wink]

 

In terms of highlights, Alex, Sean and I began the afternoon watching the deleted scenes from the AOTC DVD.

Yeah. I had seen them before (well, most of them, anyways...) and I think that the Jedi Analysis Room was my favourite.

Also, we could not believe that Ben Burtt happened to inadvertently drop one of the biggest Ep. III spoilers during one of the intros: it was absolutely brutal, I can?t believe the LFL DVD Production Team missed it.

Actually, I noticed that earlier in the AOTC forum. So, I knew it before the rest of you did.

Then, Antonio joined us. For those of you who haven?t met him yet, Antonio is, without a doubt, a great guy. He also brought along his laptop and some sweet SW memorabilia: most notably, the Anakin Skywalker FX Lightsaber. This was very cool.

Thanks for the warning on the spoiler. I'll have both ears open, but I do respect Dawn and the others who are going for spoiler-free for Episode III. It's good to know it's there.
