FF-UK North (by NorthWest) - Dr. Who/Christmas meet up (09/12/2006)

Poly was wondering about going straight to the Wirral, but imho, that would take the fun out of it - I mean we want to do the famous ferry right!

Plus, is there anywhere to eat on the Wirral?

Is 6pm a little early for going home? I thought we were having a Christmas meal - so would that be better early evening once we have done all the footwork? And wouldn't that be better done in Liverpool city centre, nearish the stations so everyone can get home easy?

Also, Coz, I think the thing we were going to mention was M of the 99th Imperial's event on the same weekend.

Christmas Festival - West Kirby, Wirral

Do we need to detour to this?

Time to work out Ferries and travel etc. Plus a list of people who can make the event, and just what we want to do. Would be nice to help support 99th Imperials, but we don't have costumers this side. So what do people want to do? Do we have some form of Christmas dinner during the day, if so do we have an earlier start than 11am?

Re Wirral - would love to go to the above event, but that would mean imho going to the Wirral direct and missing out the ferry and meal. We could do ferry and meal some other time. I'm easy tbh and I know the Ferry Across the Mersey was a big part of our trip. It doesn't bother me that we will not be in costumes - the event sounds very varied and fun in its own right.

Ah, okay, so we would just miss the meal then? Or find somewhere near the event?

I'm happy to go to M's do, I would have felt bad having not gone since I'm within traveling distance. The ferrys start at 9am but the Spaceport doesn't open till 10:30am.
Would Ten be a better time as it gives us chance to meet up get to pierhead and catch the ferry (Should only take 10 mins over the river)

I think this should give us time to do all we need to do

 

Okie dokie - so if people meet at our place around 8.45am that should give us time to get to Liverpool, traffic permitting, for 10.

 

Hmm, I might be up for this, but I haven't the foggiest clue whats going on, even after reading the thread.

Tbh, we will only be attending the Wirral part. Coz I know the ferry was important to you but we will end up paying £12 parking for the privilege and we can do a nice 50 min ferry tour in the Spring We will be meeting you at the Spaceport at around 10.30.

Wow.. fab that people want to come along... Though I think I may ahve confuse dyou with my lack of highlighting. The evening event is on Friday 8th, and the daytime event is on Staurday 9th. Tim, if you want to ring me I can explain properly what is happening.

West Kirby is dead easy to get to.. it is the end of the bus & train lines... We could possibly put some people up, though get in there early as we already have a few people staying.

It would be really great to meet you all.. and should be a good weekend.. sorry we can't make it over to the meal etc.. I will be running around like a headless chicken all weekend...



Event Details:

Friday 8th December

Procession is from 6-7pm and based in Crescent with Santa from 7pm - 8pm (free burgers, mince pies wine etc)

Need to be there at 5.30pm at the latest really... You could always come later but you would have to arrange to meet us down there

Procession will include SW characters on Flat Bed Truck, plus a pink Limo, Santa, band and lots of other people and things...

Saturday 9th December
Land in the Library about noon, and then doing various things for a couple of hours.... Charity collecting, photos etc...

There will be lots going on... bands playing in the bars, and hopefully lots of people about...

 

Oh dear - we have a problem Houston!!!

Alas, I think we probably can't make it then. Only cos our original meet organiser has already had to change due to Dr Who addition and some of us not catching the Ferry.

Well the plan has been changing while I was away

 

Hey, I've been here and even I'm confused, but I think this is the plan:

10.00 Tim and Coz meet and get ferry
10.30 Meet us at Spaceport - see Dr Who or not as supposedly it's crap.
After Spaceport, lunch (probably curry since Tim is with us )
Then Museums
The dinner - again probably curry due to Tim.

Alas, I don't think we are going to the 99th event Next time, definitely next time

It's musical meets with this Wirral one, you never know we may end up on the yellow submarine (hijacked) cruising towards Southport the way we are going. WIth pirate costumes on.
