This thread will last for one week and at the end of it, I'll create a poll with the suggested venues.

Serious suggestions only, lets not have a repeat of last year where everyone who voted for a crappy restaurant didn't turn up.

I'll start with my suggestion for the Bavarian Bier place near Wynyard. We had a mini meet there earlier in the year and it was both yummy and elegant.

I suggest a picnic.. Just like I suggested last year...

There's no quarrels about food or service...

You can drink as much or as little as you want...

There's exercise in a game of soccer or whatever...

We can play our own music...

    It's fresh air...

Centennial park is a good and central location, or the botannical gardens ...

I am not sure I'd be up for going out drinking or to a huge restaurant. Too loud and stuffy.

I second Bavarian, or Lowenbrau! What was the decided date?

I'll include the picnic and the place that Scoot mentioned, though I think Christmas dinners involve dressing up and having a nice meal with friends, we can have a picnic anytime where as Christmas is but once a year.

Who said anything about Alcohol? As always it would be entirely optional

Alcohol? Fanforce Dinners are events where people get together to chat about what they've been doing over the past year. They've never been and probably never will be events where the idea is to get trashed as quickly as possible.

We're a bunch of nerds Holly, nerds. Alcomahol just makes us sleepy and makes us think we like Star Trek.

No probs. I don't see how picnics aren't special, though.

    They are more intimate..

Meh. I'll be outvoted either way, so don't put it in as a choice.

If you want to withdraw it, that's fine.

Why not organize a picnic for January? I'm sure you can organize something if you mention Handball in the title.

    Ok, that was random...

i suggest Giovannis near Wynyard. Nice place, we can get the upstairs to ourselves, decent food and not over priced. Pkus, Italian which like, 90% of people eat.

Scoot and I were talking about this today. While I agree it shouldn't be a drunken binge fest, those of us who did hit a pub after the last meet (pancakes) did have a really good time. I would be quite partial to it, in fact.

    But yeah...Italian's good with me.

I don't think so...there might be. Mainly fast food outlets from what I remember.

Unless there's a restaurant, we can't include it sorry.

But why can't you include it? Why does it have to be specifically a restaurant? I didn't pick you as the posh type, Shad.

Because we're having the traditional FFNSW Christmas Party which has been held at a restaurant for the past 7(?) years. We've tried having a picnic for the party in the past and it just didn't work. It wasn't the same atmosphere as a nice dinner by candlelight.

Having the Christmas party anywhere else would just be like a normal meet and we have plenty of those as it is.

Well, maybe things have changed since that last picnic. And what is wrong with informal? Why does everything have to be "formal"? I always see chrissy as a relaxed atmosphere where we just hang out with friends or family, and it's lazy, and be it at the beach, a restaurant, or a picnic.

But hey, Shad, your choice. :)

...it'll still go down to a vote in the end, whether or not Shad's choice goes into it at all...
