The Rules


Everyone was assigned a Pen pal. It was a random pairing. I put a bunch of names on a paper, and just took one boy and one girl and paired them up. I don?t want anyone to think I was playing favorites. I wasn?t.

Every 2 months, you will send a letter to your pen pal in the other country. It can be hand written or typed ? it?s up to you. You will turn them into the pen pal leader of each group, who will mail all the letters out at once. EVERYONE is expected to help pay for the shipping. You can send whatever you want with your letter. Pictures, little gifts (Don?t go out and buy anything expensive!!! Do not spend more then 5 American dollars! Unless you really want to) All gifts, letters, etc and shipping money (Use your best judgment, add the postage for the letter, and estimate the price on the postage for the gifts) will be collected at the Fan Force meetings, and given to the Pen Pal leader who will put the items into a box or a big envelope, and send it to the pen pal leaders house in the other country.

The reason this is every 2 months, is so you can send something at one meeting, receive It at the next, and send it again at the next meeting, etc, etc.

Here are the very simple basic rules.

1) *Mainly for FFNSW* Do not send anything to us that might be considered to look like a bomb or weapon. All our mail comes into NYC and they are VERY strict about this stuff.
2) Do not send any pornographic photos, obscene photos or use bad language in your letters. You all know what ?bad? language is.
3) Try to make your letters at least ¾ of a page long so the other person has something to read. Even if your life is boring, I?m sure ¾ of a page is not too long.
4) Do not spend a lot of money on your pen pal!!! It is not necessary!
5) Have fun!!!

* Indicate the pen pal leaders for each fan force. They are responsible for exchanging home addresses with the SWNYC fan force and visa versa. They are also responsible for collecting the money for shipping charges and making sure everything is running smoothly in that fan force



Hints for your first letter:

Describe yourself and send a picture(or pictures!). Tell the person who you are, what you do, what you like to do, how old you are, where you work, why you like star wars, etc. You might want to enclose a picture of your surroundings. Keep it very basic and simple! No need to jump right in and have 5 page discussions with the person!

You should discuss the pen pals at your next Fan Force Meeting!

Dana if you want I can PM you my address, or you can leave it with Sam it's up to you.

 

Its due by Nov 16th so we can ship it off to them before the holidays. I would say everyone is required to give the 39 cents for the letter and then an addtional however much you think you should give in.. depends on what you are sending the person.. if you are sending them a picture then add maybe 10 cents... if your sending a candy bar... add an extra 50 cents... base it all on the fact that were sending stuff half way around the world
