FFUK:N Xmas meet/meal Sat 8 Dec 2007, York

Shame how ever since the beginning of the year, socialising with your closest friends always seems to clash with FF events.

 

Let's keep this on track please. Dave/Nige, sorry you can't make it.

I've just booked my train ticket and will arrive in York approx 9.30am and leave approx 8.30pm.

I've put next to the names who I've paid the deposit for so far.

i just looked at the train times and find that if i can make it to a train 8.30 i'd be in york by 10.30ish if that is okay. and leave home at 8 o'clock.
i find that this soundeth good

i can't promise to be very exciting company though at 9 in the morning

my train would go to piccadilly and then from there to york if that is any help.

So are you getting just the one train straight through or are you changing at Piccadilly?

 

nono, i have to change at piccadilly... if i take the train at 8:25, the next to york is 8:57 from manchester. for some weird reason british rail never bothers to give you a platform, as if that's too much bother

I think we're lucky British Rail gives us times, never mind platforms, lol!

i have been to the dungeon and that fun, i remember. i still get nightmares regarding a particular method of torture, tho *shudder*

and i remember seeing some viking stuff and the minster, which i liked.

i guess i'll have to do some xmas shopping for the family.

 

Hotels are being pants right now, so I have a few choices -

a) keep on trying over this weekend for hotels.
b) travel up for the day (so I could in theory come up with you and Coz, Martina
c) there is another, but that I'll keep off boards for now

 

Will do a day trip, get an early train, so arrive for about 9:30am in York, head home about 7:38pm. Will take the Liverpool route since I won't be living in Southport by then, and will just make life easier.

 

Anyone else up for this who hasn't already said so? Deadline tomorrow!

If anyone needs to drop out or has changed their mind, please say!

 

I'm still waiting to find out from work weather I have the time off or not. Hope that isn't a problem Suzi?

 

Forgot to add, they probably don't have platform numbers because I have seen many changes for trains whilst at stations, so there is no guarantee if you check the day before you'll be on the right one. The Southport-heading one does seem to go from Platform 14 every time at Piccadilly tho.

Hey Suz - you missed the York Brewery off the "things to visit/see" list, And they have three pubs too

Anyways - really looking forward to this, if anyone wants to do anything in York let me know and I'll...be my usual pants self at organisation and just suggest we hit a coffee bar...that serves beer...

 

Crap. I just realised that the Hatton-Mayweather fight is December 8th.

Ven, is there any way to watch it at your house on the evening? (Setanta?) I'll give you the money to subscribe for the night if you have!

 

Other than the fact I may have another friend visitng that night - he is to confirm to me shortly, there is no reason we can't have the fight on - I already have Setanta so it's just a case of being home at the right time and being sober enough to operate the controls...

 

You'd be doing me an enormous favour if we get to watch it, dude!
