Fighting It

Chapter One

?I hate you Kyp!?

?The feeling?s mutual.?

Jaina Solo stood in front of Kyp Durron, fuming with barely contained rage. Kyp stood before her, projecting a calm that didn?t exist beneath the surface; he was mad too. She raised her hand, as if to hit him, but found it held firmly in place by his own.

?I wouldn?t do that if I were you, sweetheart.? He said dangerously, leaning towards her and lowering his voice.

She felt her blood boil and wrenched her hand from his grasp; this was how it always started. She and Kyp could never seem to get along; they always argued on everything, even if it was something they agreed on.

?Don?t call me that.? she growled at him, eyes flashing with rage.

Han Solo stayed very still in his hiding place behind a few stacked packing crates. He was watching Kyp Durron and his daughter fight for about the millionth time; he didn?t even remember why this particular argument had started, but he knew how it would end. He spared a glance sideways, and saw his son, Jacen, on the far side of the room, also hiding behind packing crates. They exchanged a quick, knowing smile; it was almost time.

Sitting back on his heels, Han settled into a more comfortable position to wait out the fight. He and Jacen had work to do, but first he wanted to see if his prediction of the end of this fight was correct.

Jaina and Kyp stormed out opposite sides of the room, both muttering curses to each other under their breath, neither sure of just who had won, since they were both leaving at the same time.

Once outside, Jaina paused to lean against the wall; something about Kyp just constantly got under her skin. He was so frustrating! They could never seem to get along, no matter how hard they tried; it was like there was some sort of barrier that always got in the way.

Sighing and turning back down the hall, Jaina was stopped by a hand on her shoulder; it was Jacen. She turned to see him smiling at her; she didn?t like the look in his eyes.

?Hey Jaya,? he said, maintaining the smile, ?Come with me.?

She eyed him warily. ?Why? What do you want??

He feigned hurt. ?Jaya, you don?t trust me? I?m your brother!?

He was acting too much like their father, she knew, but she didn?t sense anything bad from him, so she agreed. ?Where are we going??

He smiled again. ?You?ll see.?

They continued on down the hall, seemingly going nowhere.

Kyp looked up as Han Solo fell into step with him, flashing a smile. ?Hey Han, what?s up??

Han smiled back, ?Hey kid, you got a minute??

?Yeah, sure. What do you need??

?Just come with me, you?ll see.?

Kyp followed Han; though he wasn?t sure he liked the gleam in the older man?s eyes.

Both Kyp and Jaina were taken to the empty conference room by different doors, each being led by either Han or Jacen. By perfect planning, both entered at the same time and, upon seeing each other, turned to face their escort.

?Oh no, I am not going to be anywhere near that man!? Jaina said, turning to face Jacen. ?Whatever you wanted me to come here for, it?ll have to wait until he leaves.?

Across the room, Han was receiving some of the same from Kyp; which only reinforced his confidence in this plan.

?Han, either she leaves or I do. I realize that she?s your daughter and all, but we cannot be in the same room together.?

Han simply exchanged a secretive smile with his son across the way; that was the signal. At once, with perfect timing, both he and Jacen turned and exited through the doors by which they had entered, keying the lock codes behind them. They did this quickly before either of their victims could react, leaving both Jaina and Kyp staring open mouthed at the closed doors.

Seeming to snap out of shock first, Jaina tried the key pad, but found the codes had been changed; getting angry, she turned and pounded on the door, k

 

I posted a reply to this on the other thread you had... I'm aching for an update! This is sooo good! I can't wait to see how or if the two of them get out of the room and how they are going to do it. I'm also waiting to see how they come to realize that they actually don't have each other but are in fact very drawn to each other... Update soon, please!!!!!!

Uh, it is too soon to ask for more because I'm not at home right now so I can't get the files from my computer. Sorry. I dohave the next few chapters ready, though, so maybe I can put those up next week. I can only post once or twice a week, whenever I'm at the office, cause my computer at home isn't working right now. Sorry.

Yes, very drawn to each other. I've already got the next few chapters ready, so I'll get those up as soon as possible.

Chapter Two

She heard a muttered curse from where Kyp was by the door; the keypad wasn?t cooperating, and he couldn?t get in to override the codes. She smirked. ?Oh yeah, great plan; like it?d be that simple. This is my father we?re talking about, remember?? she quoted his earlier words back to him, causing a few more choice words.

?What are you so happy for? You?re stuck in here too.?

She smiled mock-sweetly at him. ?Yeah, but it?s all worth it to see the great Jedi Master Kyp Durron fail at something. It?s unheard of, you know.?

Kyp growled something under his breath. ?Don?t give me that crap, Goddess; you know that everyone in this galaxy hates me.?

She scowled at him. ?No, not everyone hates you?.in fact, I hear you?re quite the hero to rancor children.? Kyp threw a hydrospanner at her, which, after she dodged it, caused her to dissolve into laughter.

?Not funny.? He muttered, scowling back.

More than two hours had passed since Han and Jacen had locked the two Jedi in the room together, and father and son were sitting on the floor now, both wearing amused grins. Jaina and Kyp had been arguing, yelling, and insulting each other for most of those two hours, and Han and Jacen had been able to hear every word, not to mention the small recording devices they had planted, which had a live feed to the portable screen in front of them. Not only could they hear all that the two Jedi did, but they could watch it too. Jacen had to admit, even though he had had misgivings about this at first, it was entertaining. The two of them were sitting on the floor, both laughing, when Mara came by.

?What are you two up to now?? she asked, raising an eyebrow curiously. ?And don?t say ?nothing? because I know you too well to believe it.?

Han nodded. ?I wouldn?t dream of it.? He jerked his thumb over his shoulder, indicating the room behind him. ?We locked Jaina and Kyp in there and won?t let them out again. They?ve been fighting and exchanging insults for the last two hours.? He was grinning stupidly, something Jacen didn?t often see his father do.

Mara gave a sort of half smile. ?Poor Jaina; she must have done something evil in a past life to have gotten you for a father.?

Han snorted. ?As if she hasn?t done enough in this one.?

Mara laughed and left the two of them alone again, shaking her head and muttering something about Solo?s and their twisted imaginations.

When she was gone from earshot, Han leaned towards his son and whispered, ?You think she?ll tell your mom?? Jacen shook his head no. ?What about your uncle? He?s always there to wreck my fun.? Jacen smiled and shook his head again; they could trust Mara.

?Kyp Durron, give that back!? Jaina?s voice rang loud through the walls.

?Give my lightsaber back and I?ll give you this back.? Kyp?s voice returned.

Han and Jacen exchanged glances. ?Time to turn the screen back on.? Han said, smiling at his son.

Jaina hefted Kyp?s lightsaber and pretended to examine it, trying not to let her gaze shift to him, standing there across the room holding something of hers. ?Kyp,? she said, ?just give it back.?

His gaze flicked up from the object he was holding to meet hers. ?Not until I get my lightsaber back. You have your own, why do you need mine??

She shrugged, ?Oh, I don?t know?I was thinking of starting a collection. I?m not giving it back until I get my necklace back.? She wasn?t usu

Is it just me or was there another post already up after this on the original thread... Seems to me I remember a massive cliffie!!! Am I losing it or am I right? Either way, I love it and can't wait for more!!! Great post!

Chapter Three

Kyp had been staring at her necklace, which she had refastened around her neck, and finally spoke up. ?Why do you wear that all the time??

She looked at him curiously before realizing that he was talking about the necklace. ?Oh, yeah, I?d rather not talk about it.?

He raised an eyebrow and persisted. ?Why? It?s obviously special to you, since I?ve seen Jag give you lots of jewelry that you never wear. That?s the only piece I?ve ever seen on you; in fact, I?ve never seen you without it.?

Jaina?s eyes took on a far away look as she spoke. ?Anakin gave it to me a few weeks before Myrkr; I haven?t taken it off since then.? Her face was open, showing all the hurt and emotion that came with the memories of her youngest brother.

?Oh.? Was all he could think to say, and then silently cursed himself for it. He looked over at her from across the room, and it occurred to him to wonder why they had stayed on opposite sides of the room the whole time; they may fight, but it wasn?t as though they were going to kill each other. Overwhelmed by how ridiculous it seemed, he crossed the room and pulled her into his arms, offering her what comfort he could; it felt odd, to hold and comfort her like this. They were always fighting, and he never considered what it would be like to be her friend instead of her enemy; after a moment, he decided that it felt good, more so than he thought it would.

Leia came up to them. ?Han, have you seen Jaina??

Han jerked his head towards the closed door. ?Yeah, in there. You can?t go in, though. No admittance.?

Leia looked at him oddly and rolled her eyes. ?Do I even want to know??

Han grinned roguishly. ?Probably not.?

Leia gave him a dubious look. ?What are you doing to our daughter??

He gave her his trademark ?Who, me?? look, bringing a smile to her face. Shaking her head, Leia walked off down the hall, muttering something about Jaina?s wellbeing.

Han threw his son a lopsided grin and leaned back against the wall.

Jag came wandering down the hall a little while later, a strange look on his face. When he spotted Han and Jacen, he came up to them. ?Have either of you seen Jaina? She was supposed to meet me in the docking bay an hour ago.?

Han tried to contain his smile, but wasn?t very successful. ?Uh, yeah; she?s in there.? he said, indicating the room behind them. Then, when Jag went for the keypad to the room, Han stepped up in front of him, placing himself between the young pilot and the door. ?But she?s a little busy right now; I wouldn?t go in there if I were you.? He raised a warning eyebrow at Jag.

Jag frowned at him, but obviously didn?t take the hint. ?I need to talk to her.? Reaching around Han to get to the handle of the door, he suddenly felt cool metal jammed up against his side.

?I said, I wouldn?t go in there if I were you. Now, I don?t know what part of that statement you don?t understand, but I?m sure you?ll understand this.? As he spoke, Han jammed the muzzle of his blaster a little harder into the young man?s ribs. ?In fact,? he said, ?I think you could take this as your official invitation to leave base and not come back.?

Jag started to object, but a blaster in the ribs is a very persuasive tool. Nodding hesitantly, he turned and left at a brisk walk, headed in the direction of Wedge?s office.

Han turned to his son with a smile. ?I always said you could get more done with a blaster and nice words then with just nice words alone. In fact, who needs the words at all??

Jacen laughed; it was good to have his father back. He had finally recovered from Chewie?s death, and Jacen was enjoying getting to know him again.

Han held up a hand suddenly to quiet his son. ?Shhh, listen.?

Jacen paused, listening. ?It?s quiet in there,? his face grew horrified. ?They?ve killed each other!?

Han gave his son a stupid look and rolled his eyes. ?Time to check on the kiddies.?

Jacen grinned and steppe

Oh dear, Han is not going to be happy about this, not one bit! And he just told Jag to leave, unless the baby is Zekk's which would be an interesting twist. Han is soo going to kill someone, hopefully not Jaina, cause that would kinda ruin the story. More soon?

Not what I would've expected. This could get interesting. Sounds very serious all of a sudden, though.
Please give us more soon. It's just plain evil to leave us with such a cliffhanger for longer than a few days!
