ST Filming Announcement -- May 2014

^ I presume it’s the first standalone film, to be directed by Gareth Edwards.

 

Speaking of which, it's weird that we've heard pretty much nothing about Edwards' stand-alone film, considering it should be pretty deep in pre-production by this point.

 

Well, not too weird considering how little we knew about TFA at that point...

(That said, I agree. I would think we would start having some tiny spinoff leaks any day now.)

 

Good point, but we don't even know the subject matter of Edwards' film. I don't think there have been any concrete rumors about what it'll be about, which characters, which actors might be up for roles, etc.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Filmed In An Outdoor Tank

The BBC's Lizo Mzimba points out on Twitter that, according to Pinewood Studios' website, Star Wars: The Force Awakens filmed in the studio's exterior water tank.

Pinewood's project listing for The Force Awakens includes "Exterior Tank" among other locations in the "Filming Facility" section. The movie also shot on the Paddock Lot and the Richard Attenborough Stage.

The 806,000-gallon outdoor tank is large enough to allow "complex set construction" and is backed by a blue- and green-screen setup to facilitate digital compositing.

Greig Fraser (DoP for the first SW spin-off) recently stated in an interview that photography for the Edwards SW film will begin the middle of next year, so I imagine we'll get some kind of info on it some time in the next couple months.

 

Could be a reshoot of a couple of a scenes.

 

The funny thing is, if Disney's current Star Wars slate of one film a year holds true, a SW film will be filming every year from now on. I find that a baffling notion.

And yes, I’m very surprised some of the scoopers on websites haven’t even mentioned the first standalone film. They must be in the serious stages of pre-production by now.

 

Yeah, they must be casting by now. Where are all the casting rumors? Next year is going to be CRAZY - all the TFA promo - trailers, interviews, photos- plus principal photography and all the subsequent rumors for this standalone. It'll be like this year x100.

 

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens or The Return to Otoh Gunga".

 

TFN will asplode.

 

There were rumors on MSW that actors from the open call for VII were getting callbacks for "other Star Wars projects." Could be early casting for the first spin-off. If they aren't casting yet, they will be soon...

 

The Force Awakens to Jar Jar drinking a cup of Folgers ......

 

There's a better-than-likely possibility that The Force Awakens will have the teaser trailer for the first stand-alone attached to it. Personally, if I'm Disney/Lucasfilm, I put the teaser after the credits for TFA. This way, no one is distracted by MORE new Star Wars will watching the first SW film in 10+ years, and all the people that are used to waiting until the end of Marvel films don't leave the theater complaining.

I don't Drink Coffee hate it, I think it tastes like dirt no matter what brand, in the morning I like Orange Juice, Milk and sometimes Coke Zero, my parents like Dunkin Doughnuts Coffee .......

 

I think it is a sign that points to the fact that most of these insiders are full of Bantha Poodoo that no one has yet come up with a supposed scene in an aquatic setting, did anyone see this one coming?

 

1) none of the insiders have ever said they know the plot of the entire movie
2)you forgot about the rumors that Skellig might be Mon Calamari

 

It's awfully temperate for Mon Calamari, at least in my opinion.
