Citizen Kane, but with the caveat that they have to update it from a critique of W. R. Hearst to a modern media mogul of their choice.

Oh and inevitably fail to live up to a film considered in many circles to be the greatest of all time. No pressure.

 

You know who they would pick, technically "media mogul" or not.

And maybe they could tone down the hammy radio drama acting.

Actually, I'd rather see his take on one of the classic WW1 flying films, like The Dawn Patrol, Aces High, Wings, or The Blue Max. He collects WW1 airplane replicas, so let's see them on the big screen!

 

'The King of Comedy'. It was already ahead of it's time. The dark macabre exploration of celebrity and comedy is all the more relevant now

 

The Last Starfighter. The format may have changed from arcade games to home consoles/PCs, but VG's are as big a part of our culture as ever, and there's real potential in a film centering on a kid plucked from obscurity to use skills deemed useless by society to help save the universe.

 

L.A. Story, but it's got to be set mostly in the Valley.

 

How about all the T's?

A $400 million Dune following the Jodorowsky script book, obviously. It will be the worst Dune yet, but that makes it no less critical that it be done.

When the crew wakes up 88 years later, a handful of great grandchildren through great great great great grandchildren are living off the remaining supplies. The founding couple had two children, each of whom awoke a mate in adolescence. Five grandchildren were born. Subsequent generations interbred with their cousins but also awoke a total of 16 additional passengers through the years. Around year 70 it becomes obvious to the awake population of the ship (more than 90 men, women and children) that supplies are dwindling. A supply of food that would have lasted 800 years for two people was now down to a few years worth of food for the group as the result of poor management and waste. Fighting breaks out, many are killed until the survivors realize that they can eat the perfectly preserved nearly 5,000 passengers still sleeping.

I'll allow it, as long as Andy Garcia gets less screen time. I thought he was too overwhelming a presence in Passengers. Kind of pulled the movie off balance. Captain Norris this; Captain Norris that. Jesus.
