I think the Courtyard is next to the Marriott. Also, if rooms do open up at the Marriott, you should be able to switch the reservation.

Edit: Here's the map of downtown Indy.

    Greetings, blokes.

Congrats to all you guys for grabbing rooms. Looking at the string of messages you left while trying to secure them made it look about as much fun as brushing your teeth with barbed wire.

Fortunately, I reckon we should all be good to roll for next April. :)

    Yie yie,

Em and I are probably driving though not 100%. If so, we can help transport luggage out to Indy in the back of the truck. Though I need to run that passed her first.

I'll post now though that if we drive it's just going to be us two in the truck. That's too long and far for an extra person to be crammed in there and besides, I expect we'll have a load of munchies, cd's, etc behind the seats that won't allow for room for another passenger.

This I dea was tossed around at one point. For those of us that are going we should just rent a Van and go from there.

Then maybe we should start a list of who's going, when and also when they are coming back.
Note if you need a ride or are driving and can take passengers and how many.

As stated, I'm almost sure that Em and I are driving, but not 100%. If so, we won't have room for passengers, but can help with moving the luggage to Indy and back. We will be departing for Indy on the Wednesday before (April 20). As to what time, who knos, that's still very far off. We will be returning to Pittsburgh on the 25th the Monday after C3.

If you think you'll need help transporting you luggage PM me. Take into account that Em and I will need space for luggage to, so a limit of twp pieces is set for now, depending on number of responses and size of pieces.

If you do need the space, you'll have to coordinate with us a way to get the luggage to us. I'm not backtracking, so if you live further out from me, you'll have to bring the luggage to me. We'll pick an easy drop off point later.

I mentioned this before, but what about having a convoy of sorts to CIII? We all as a group can decide to meet somewhere (this would help with the luggage thing), preferably on the west side of town as that would help to avoid any backtracking by the majority of us. According to mapquest.com Indy is about 360 miles from here. Depending on speed we should be able to make this on average 6 hours (including any neccessary breaks). We need to start thinking about when we should show up in Indy. to avoid the rush hour we should plan for either getting there before 3pm or after 6pm. Personally, I'd rather have some time in the day to enjoy Indy a little, so my early vote is we get there before 3pm. Taking that into account, we'd have to all be assembled and ready to roll by 9am at the latest. Since this is still early yet we have plenty of time to figure this out if we want to travel as a group. I'm just giving an example of how things could flow.

i'll most likely need a ride there or back, but not both, half my family live right out side of Indianopolis, so i will be visiting them either before or after (maybe even both)but it normally takes us about 7 hours to get there when we drive, or something around there.

For your Mapquesting pleasure, the street address for the convention center is 100 S Capitol Ave, Indianapolis IN 46225.

It will take 6 hours from my house by their estimates (which I have found to be pretty accurate if there are no traffic snarls).

It is now SWAP tradition to take the longest way possible and then make a stop in the middle of the ghetto before we get to the hotel.

The tickets are on sale now. Room reservations may be much more difficult however. It seems at the current time that if you try to book your rooms through http://www.starwarscelebration.com that they are sold out. (Just the rooms, not the tickets.) However, if your parents don't mind being a little away from the "action" then they can go to any number of discount hotel websites and find rooms for your family. I've heard of some people getting rooms for as low as $78 a night. That's agreat price. The hotel was nly about 1-2 miles away from the convention center. That's something they'll need to check out.

BTW, nice having you back. We've been concerned about your absence.

    Hey Josh. Welcome back.

(Other)Josh, we had tossed around the idea of renting a van or the like, but I believe it was agreed that in the end, that was just more money that we would have to pay, and would be more hassle than it's worth.

I will be driving out to Indy. Much like Sal, leaving Wed, returning Mon. I am going to attempt to Jedi Mind Trick my mom into letting me use her car for the trip, which is significantley larger than my own(mine's an Escort ZX2, hers is an Explorer, could be a Durango by C3 time.) Or, I might even be able to borrow a vehicle from my dad. But that's a long shot. As for providing a ride, I have already agreed to take Tina, Stacie, and Liz. If there is more room available, I will let everyone know.

I agree with Sal, we should all convoy out there. It will make the trip more enjoyable, and also easier for everyone, so no one gets lost. Not that I think too many people will get too lost, considering if we take the way I believe we should take, it is the way most people from this eastern area will be taking as well. As for what time we leave, we can decide that later on, as we get closer to the event. It will also depend on what time the hotels will let us check in. I think it should be around or near afternoon-ish. We should also think about trying to synchronize the convoy with WV, Cleavland, etc.

I also second Fluke's message. We must continue on the tradition of going the long way, and when we finally get to Indy, stopping in the ghetto, at a scary gas station with a shady looking fellow walking by to ask directions. Even if we know where we're going, It Must Be Done!!!! [face_mischief] [face_devil]

You mean there is a way to get to Indiana without driving through Michigan???

A caravan to CIII is a must. With signs in the windows so folks know that geeks are on the move . . . Geeks Gone Wild . . . I'm sure something could be co-ordinated with other folks in near-by areas. (If the pgh folks left at a certain time, they should hit a given exit/reststop on the highway at a certain time, where they could hook up with Cleveland or WV or whoever. Cell phones are a must to help everyone find each other.)

I actually am sorry that I will miss the social aspect of being together in the car for hours and hours. But then, being able to not look like Yoda hobbling around will also be a good thing.

I know Nikki and her husband from Rochester (who we met at Comicon, are interested. (At least the last time this was mentioned anyway.)

I'll get crakin' on WV and Cleveland. I think it's very doable. We would travel from here straight to Columbus (were we could pick up yet more pathetic life-forms...J/K Columbus) from there Cincinnati could meet us along the way at a given rest stop and then on to Indy. We'd have at least 6 FF's in tow. Maybe Brian can convince his lady to have her group join us on the convoy. Don't know how they're planning on going. It might be easier for them to also meet us in Columbus. But they'll decide that for themselves.

Wouldn't it be cool to have a few dozen vehicles traveling down the road with Jedi, handmaidens, Twi'Leks, Sith and Stormtroopers hanging out the windows making fun of the "normal" people???

I still have that van idea. If I can get the money together somehow for that, I'm doing it.

Can someone please explain the room situation to me? I have some questions and don't know where to start? Here we go:

Am I staying in a totally different hotel from everyone else? If so why? If not cool.

If I am staying in the same hotel as some of the others...I do have a Grand Cherokee Laredo now and would be interested in car pooling with other people since we would have plently of room in our SUV.

How much is my hotel going to run me and when do I need to pay for it?

If I'm not going to be in the same hotel with other people and I find something cheaper can I cancel my reservation to go with the cheaper one?

If someone could help me out with all of this that would be cool since I have to budget my money since I'm also saving for my wedding next year.
