Finishing the Fight: The Halo 3 Discussion Thread

The first time I beat the game on Legendary last fall, I accidentally and quite stupidly hit a button during the end credits, thereby depriving me of the final, two-minute cutscene that wrapped everything up.

I ultimately finished it again and received the scene a couple days later, but initially YouTube prevented a rage-filled "Virginia Tech"-style shooting rampage by me when I first learned of this scene's existence.

Thanks, YouTube. My friends and co-workers thank you, too.

 

None of my friends knew about these end-credits cutscenes. I feel dumb.

 

All you had to do was ask, m'friend. You can replay the last level from a rally point at the launch screen or from your last saved checkpoint and see everything up and through the credits. For the extended end scene though, you will have to complete the game on Legendary difficulty. It's easier though, if you do it coop.

I doubt that Halo is as popular here as it is on say, GameFAQs, but for those of you who do play.....

Can you believe Final Boss dropped Walshy? I mean, right before Toronto. That's messed. And I guess the way they handled the whole thing was kind of classless. I know that in terms of performance, Walshy is a shell of his Halo 2 self, but c'mon.

I did hope that Instinct (Walshy's new team) would roll FB, but IIRC from the bracket, they failed.

This made me laugh for a long time and i cant figure out why. Thanks though.

Here's hoping it follows Blue or Grey squad(STILL MIA) from the books.

 

I want an ODST third-person squad-based shooter. ODSTs are what the trailer seems to hint at.

 

The trailer does seem to suggest that it's supposed to be a campaign expansion to Halo 3 although the action suggests the New Mombasa slipspace jump of Regret's carrier on Halo 2. The pods that are dropping are either Elite or ODST drop pods (hence the whole "Prepare to Drop" thing). There's like a gazillion threads on Bungie.net hypothetizing on this, but Bungie's pretty mum so far in regards to whatever this new game's supposed to be.

 

I've heard rumors that is my be a 3rd person tactical shooter.

Another question, will it be released on live or on disc?

 

Nobody knows yet. We gotta stay tuned to Bungie for further developments.

 

They're definitely ODSTs, Elite pods are more streamlined. Third-person tactical shooter would be my first choice.

 

I hope (if it's set in New Mombassa, which it looks to be) that the distinct places from the Halo 2 level are in the game like Hotel Zanzibar and all the alleyways and the place were the Hunters bash through the doors, what a trip down memory lane that would be.

Seriously though, kudos to you. I've yet to play a match with any flameheads (Recon'd or otherwise) in it.

 

The new maps look pretty cool. Sandbox looks like a much better forge map than Foundry. It has a normal surface part, a "floor" in the sky to make a floating map, and a "crypt" thats really far below the surface for making an indoor map. I think you could make a Well of Souls(Indiana Jones) map pretty easily.

 

Whats so special about flaming armor?

Trailer and info for ODST

I'm pumped for this. Johnson as an unlockable in Firefight, the rest of the Mythic map pack, silenced weapons, a new badass pistol, the VISR... it's too much to take in at once. And supposedly that's not all yet. I'm marking down September 22.

 

What's so special about the flameheads? Nothing much...except that they're flaming-recon-garbed Bungie employees. I've only met two so far on separate double xp weekend playlists. They don't talk too much, but you know where they've been with the devastation they've left behind...
