This is why I suspect there's a lot more coming in his arc. Otherwise, TFA had some crappy writing on the level of fan fiction.

Masterfully laid out. *Applause* *tips hat*. I especially like the part where you went into how if Finn doesn't shine eventually, then "marketing for this new trilogy is grotesquely cruel and kinda evil." . I I love it. You pretty much summed up my feelings on that matter. Its also why, as I watched this film and enjoyed it, there was an underlying feeling of being extremely uncomfortable in the theater. To have a character have a two hero pose moments, only to be dispatched with relative ease, first by a lowly storm trooper, then by the film's villain, is almost like a comedy....unless this is truly a part of a greater arc that sees the character grow in strength and success.

That's why I posted it. I thought the janitor reference was limited to this place.

The article shows that no one is bothered. People are taking this too deep for no reason.

People who are bothered by the janitor comment have no idea how militaries work. I was a US Army Infantryman, Mechanized Infantry. In addition to that, I did my fair share of cleaning toilets and mowing lawns. Only Special Forces can afford to train for combat all day every day. Your average soldier has a myriad of duties in addition to their primary military occupational specialty.

You can definitely tell that they may not have had any prior service...

Yeah, but Finn is an Elite trooper. ;)

When we meet him in Episode VII he is. Most soldiers don't start their careers in elite units.

It really is remarkable just how tunnel minded people are. The issue has been outlined with absolute clarity, yet certain individuals just march on being oblivious.

For crying out loud, it's not hard to grasp. Finn worked in sanitation while on deployment at Starkiller Base, sometime in the past before the timeframe of TFA. By the time of TFA, he is in Captain Phasma's division on the Finalizer, as a highly-trained ground trooper.

And please, spare us the links to the Daily Mail. That trash does not belong on this forum.

I commented on how the issue has been outlined with absolute clarity, and you respond with "what issue". Its very easy to spot a troll.

Or, oh I don't know, perhaps he/she does not see it as an issue along with the vast majority and therefore asked: "what issue".

No. If I state that something has been outlined with absolute clarity, yet someone still can't see what the issue is? Then yes, they are tunnel minded. Its like you telling me that your foot is broken and to please watch my step. Then I respond by putting on boots and stomping about while asking "whats the issue?"

Hence, my comment about it being remarkable how tunnel-minded certain people are.

Are you stating that you have tunnel vision because, if so, good call as I agree.

Unfortunately the Daily Mail is read by a large amount of people, some of which will take those comments onboard. You can't ignore that however much you don't like it.
