Discussion in 'King of Prussia, PA' started by Calixte, May 19, 2002.
I propose Thursday, May 30 2002 or Thursday, June 6, 2002 around 5:30-6pm.
Let me know everyone!
Change in plans everyone:
Our first meeting will be either Sat., June 1 or Sunday, June 2. We will meet and discuss some small business issues and then those of you that are willing to make the trip will meet up with the Philly chapter to carpool to a digital theater in NJ for a screening of AOTC.
Final times and date to be announced within the week.
Hmmm, that is tempting...I will usually only be able to join in online discussions though.
I've already got plans for the weekend of the Jersey trip. (Man, it would be nice to see AOTC in digital! )
I'm going to see what I can do to make the June 6 meeting though!
I don't think I can make the Jersey trip, but I will be seeing it at KoP next week some time.
I'm in the process of signing up with the Philly chapter, but there is no mention of the meeting with your chapter. When will the final details be finalized?
BTW, the digital version rocks! Saw it in NYC last week.
Do you know where the digital screen is in Jersey?
Hey guys, Im interested in joining the King Of Prussia Chapter, as I live pretty close in Bryn Mawr; as long as you guys dont mind having a 15yr old come meet up with you guys. Let me know
I sent a message to Rox (Terry) to announce our first official meeting on Fanforce.net but he has not read it yet.
Anyway, here are the details I sent out in an email to people who signed our sign up sheet at the midnight showing at Plymouth Meeting last week...it gives details of our first meeting plus a little about what we want this group to be about.
If any questions, please feel free to post here or PM me.
Email sent today:
First, thanks for putting your name down on the sign-up sheet at the
midnight showing of AOTC last week! You are in no way obligated to
join our FanForce Chapter but we would be happy if you did.
The King of Prussia Chapter (serving the Phila suburbs) will be
holding it's first official meeting on Thursday, June 6, 2002
starting at 5:30-6pm at the TGIFriday's at Plymouth Meeting Mall. We
will have dinner, get to know each other and discuss a few items of
business including taking chapter name suggestions, assigning some
temporary roles and responsibilities and talking about the mission of
this specific chapter! All are welcome and we hope to see you there.
You can find us on www.theforce.net by clicking on this link and
joining our online discussion:
You can also find announcements of upcoming meetings here:
You must register (it's free) in order to participate in the online
discussions. This is where all info related to our meetings and
events will be posted. This type of email is a one-time thing until
we get rolling.
We also have a temporary website with a temporary URL:
The first purpose of this chapter is, of course, to meet and mingle
with like-minded Star Wars fans and have some fun. The second purpose
of this chapter will be to give back to our communities. Much like
the local Garrison Carida of the 501st, we will be mainly a
charitable group. We will also be collaborating with our local 501st
on certain events in the future. Jeff Romanoff, CO of Garrison
Carida, has generously offered to help us get off the ground with
this endeavor. Many thanks to him. You may want to check out their
website at www.garrisoncarida.com. The third and final purpose is to
help each other with costuming and other Star Wars endeavors such as
Some of you may know that there is a Philadelphia Chapter being
formed. While we are considered two separate chapters, we will be
collaborating with them on events and meetings sometimes too. Which
leads me to the final item in this email. On either Sat., 6/1 or
Sun., 6/2 we are going to meet up with the Philly Chapter and carpool
to a theater in NJ to watch AOTC in digital. Please stay tuned to the
discussion forums for more details. All are welcome!
We'd love to have you, but, b/c you are under 18 you need to have someone with you that is 18 or over. This is a general guideline suggested by the higher-ups at FanForce. It is mainly b/c we can't be responsible for minors. So, if you've got an older sibling, cousin, or a parent who is really into SW, encourage them to join us too.
Next time we get together, I've got to teach you about markup codes.
In the meantime...

Sorry, it's just I did a real quick cut and paste out of the email. Didn't have time to do the fancy stuff.
Next time we get together, I've got to teach you about markup codes<<<
well... so much for that endeavour
I'm really sorry SarLaBooda. Perhaps you can stick around and join us on the boards. And I'm sure there will be events in the future that you will be able to attend. Just the regular meetings you will need to have an adult with you (someone 18 or over defines adult).
Thanks for being interested though!
Unless you guys can change the meeting location to Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania it looks like I won't be able to join you.
I will be keeping an eye on the new web page and will visit here as much as possible. Hope everything goes well and there is alot of interest!
Hey Stephen! It's great to see you posting. So I guess you're gonna be in there for awhile. Maybe we'll come visit you if it's ok with the docs. Of course, we'd love to have you join us at a meeting.
I'll keep you posted on any meeting news and stuff too so stay tuned here.
Hope everything is going well and you're feeling better every day.
Jenn, just wanted to let you know its not going to work out for me to go to the meet up this weekend to see ATOC digital. I'm needed to stay late at work both Sat and Sun nights to do the til counts. Sorry. Maybe next time.
hey natasha, that's alright. i don't know if it's actually going to happen. haven't gotten a lot of response from suburban people and i may not be able to go either. did charly ever decide on a final date and time?
Something has come up with his family in Florida and he's leaving within a day or two to go there for a while. If you want the details you'll need to talk to him.
Calling all Northern and Western suburban Star Wars fans - come out to TGIFriday's at 5:30 this Thursday, June 6 for our chapter's first FanForce meeting.
We'll be discussing the following:
- names for our chapter
- purposes of our chapter
- developing website
- planning next couple of events
Also, either Jason or Jeff of our local 501 garrison will be joining us to lend support and help give us some direction on the charity aspect of the chapter.
You must be 18 to attend, or be 18 with an adult chaperone.
Hope to see you there!
Hey everyone, it sounds like we're going to have a nice turnout tonite.
Last I heard, there are 6 of us meeting up.
Anybody else interested? TGI Friday's Plymouth Meeting Mall 530PM....
I should be there with my two younglings in tow. (Well one of 'em is just over two months old, so he's more of a seismic charge than a youngling.)
See ya there.
The first meeting of the Philly Outer Rim FanForce was a great success. Thanks to all those who came out! We had 5 adults, and two 'junior' members. It was great to meet Nick, Jr. and Jess, Nick. They are way too cute!
We talked about a number of things. Everyone had a lot of great ideas for both social and charity work events. Thanks all! We also are going to get the website developed and already have some invitations to socialize with other science fiction clubs in the regional area. Also, one of the things we decided is to have a balance of social activities for those who have families and those of us who are single. So, don't be surprised if you see 2-3 events in a month...some will be for the whole family and others will be just for members and others will be cross-social between other groups! No one is expected to attend all of them.
I'll be posting a "Minutes" thread soon containing all relevant information from the meeting. I'll also be posting upcoming events with dates and times.
Wanna join us? Stay tuned here for the next meeting date and time!
Your 'fearless?' leaders,
Jennifer and Rob
Hey guys! It was great seeing everyone last night! I'm impressed at how many braved the Kamino style rain to get to the meeting!!!
I'm looking forward to the web updates and social events we talked about. See you again soon!
It was a plessure to meet you folks. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for the Philly Outer Rim!
