    This is a small preview of book 3 of my SOS series. It begins Oct 2nd.

    Jaina watched as the ship carrying Gev sat down in the Hanger Bay. Hope was raging inside of her. (( Gev, please be alive! Oh, please?)) The message she recieved to report to the bay hadn't said a word if he was or not. Jaina looked down to her feet, afraid to see. There was so much she had to say to him. So much he didn't know about...

    Her only hope was that somehow he could find it within himself to forgive her for what she had done...

    Well, thats it! See you Oct 2nd! :D

    I guess I'll try a post here. The title isn't a give away at the story so a thread like this is a blessing for me :) Here it goes. My story is a JA/AU. It tells the story of Qui-Gon adopting a little girl. P.S. \\ denotes thoughts.

    The Gift of A Destiny
    -----------

    Chapter 3

    ----------------

    Qui-Gon and Xanatos sat on the couch in their apartment deep in thought. The child sleeping in Xanatos?s arms seemed to have been abandoned, but both were unsure of what they should do. It was too early in the morning to awake the council to ask for their advice, so Qui-Gon had decided to simply wait and see what happened. He could almost feel the Force emanating from the child in strong waves. It seemed to Qui-Gon that it was the will of the Force that they had found the child. Xanatos wasn?t usually so in tune to the Living Force. The fact that he had heard the child squeal through it seemed to be a miracle in itself. The little girl probably would have died had they not found her.

    Qui-Gon turned to look at his apprentice and smiled. It seemed that all the excitement had tired him out, and while Qui-Gon had sat there brooding, he had fallen asleep. The little girl rested comfortably in Xanatos?s arms so Qui-Gon decided not to move them. He found a blanket to cover them with, and placed a pillow beneath Xanatos?s head, before going to his own room and falling asleep.

    --------------------

    The next morning, when he awoke, it took Xanatos a moment to realize where he was. But, a sharp tug to his shoulder length, jet-black hair, quickly reminded him of what had happened the night before. Looking down he saw the little girl was still in his arms, though totally awake now, and in her hands she held a fairly good sized piece of his hair. Seeing that he was awake, the little girl laughed and smiled, then proceeded to pull again.

    "Ouch, that hurt, little one. Master Qui-Gon was right, you do have quite a grip." He smiled, and proceeded to remove the blanket that was still on top of him. \\Master must have put this on me last night. I wonder what time it is?\\ He walked over to look at the clock. \\Six thirty, I guess Master is already up.\\ He looked down at the little girl, "I guess I?ll just carry you around with me for now. Will you be good for me?" The girl looked up at him and smiled, then she let go of his hair. "Thanks, I needed that back." Just then, the door to the apartment swished open, and Master Qui-Gon stepped in.

    "Good, you?re both up. How do you feel?" Qui-Gon asked with a smirk.

    "Except for a slight pain on my head from someone?s pulling, I feel fine," Xanatos replied with a slight rub to his head. The baby squealed and squirmed to look at Qui-Gon. She then smiled and held out her arms. "I think she wants you to hold her, master. That?s okay though, I need a shower anyway."

    Though his apprentice spoke lightly, it still seemed to Qui-Gon that he was reluctant to let go of the little girl. Qui-Gon gently took the girl in his arms and rocked her back and forth. Meanwhile, Xanatos retired to his room to get a change of clothes. "Oh, and Xanatos, we?re expected in the council chambers at 7:30? all three of us." Qui-Gon didn?t even have to see his apprentice?s face to know that he was scowling. But, Xanatos simply answered back with a reluctant, "Alright." Qui-Gon thought he heard a mumble after that but a yank at his beard reminded him of the other person in the room. "You must be hungry. I?ll take you down to the nursery to see if I can get you some breakfast."

    -------------------------

    An hour later, Xanatos, Qui-Gon, and the little girl stood in front the Jedi Council. The girl squirmed in Xanatos?s arms in an attempt to see everyone in the room. Most children would have been at least somewhat frightened by some of the members, but the girl seemed completely confident. Qui-Gon was just finishing the story of how they had found her.

    "I decided to allow the girl to stay with us in our apartment for the night instead of waking the nursery staff. Then, I contacted you this m

    Here's the first post I made at my first fic, Max Antilles, Private Eye...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "No Blasters. It says on the bloody door, No Blasters. But no, they never learn. One minute it's Jabba's boys, and the next? Imperial Stormtroopers. I'm losin' my voice trying to remind them, and keep the peace around here and making sure nobody's gettin' hurt. Well they're not gettin' hurt all right, they're dead!"
    I motioned to the bartender to hush up as I inspected the scene. It was nothing out of the ordinary to see the body count pile up in the Mos Eisley Cantina. Just before I arrived, a squad of Imperial troops in their universally notorious white armor were dragging some Rodian crackshot out the door. Murder was hardly a crime in this fringeworld spaceport town. A shame, really - I'd be racking up wupiupi in the thousands every day, at the cost of having Jabba's assassins on my tail. Not a risk I wouldn't take.
    But this incident wasn't ordinary. Some convict and his pet Quara picked a fight with a farmboy. The bartender tells me the boy was obviously new in town. Even tried to bring his droids in, he says. I stared at the end result of this conflict, wondering how it might have come to be. From what I gathered, an old bearded man sliced the Quara's arm clean off, leaving a trail of blood on the floor. From what I hear, it died of blood loss later, but not here. The rest of the scene remained intact, though. According to the bartender, the convict was taken into custody. The barman promised me a hefty sum if I'd look into what happened with the arm. I could tell it wasn't done by anything that broke his "No Blasters" policy.
    "You're lucky the arm's still there to examine," the bartender continued. "The stormtroopers wanted to clean everything up, but I insisted otherwise. I didn't manage to get them out until someone told me he'd found a specialist, a professional investigator. Speaking of which, there's been an awful lot of 'em around lately. The Empire's up to something big around these parts, but I don't really keep up with those matters."
    The barman wanted to hire a specialist, and somebody must have referred him to me. I was passing through Mos Eisley on my way off this desert planet. The only reason I was in this part of the galaxy at all was to settle some accounts with a client in Anchorhead. In any case, I was waiting around for the next transport back to my home planet of Corellia. I'm often asked about that. Antilles is supposedly an Alderaanian name, and Alderaan wasn't exactly on good terms with the Empire. The Antilles clan was expansive, I'll admit. I've lost touch with anyone who might claim to be a family member, but last I heard, I have a distant cousin who became an ace pilot for some terrorist group. And Antilles used to be a proud and decorated name. Maybe it's fallen so hard because of the Empire's propaganda, but one government's the same to me as another, so long as it doesn't intervene with my business. The stormtroopers don't mess with me, and I'm sure as hell bright enough not to mess with them.
    I turned to the bartender. "Did you in fact see how the arm was sliced off?"
    He shook his head. "I ducked when the convict pulled out a blaster. So did most of the others in the joint. But almost all of the witnesses who did see it agree it was a wand, kind of a hummin' bolt of light."
    I stood in stunned silence. One word popped into my mind: lightsaber. Trademark weapon of the Jedi cult, which the Empire stamped out back when I was still too young to understand the politics behind it. So that's why the stormtroopers were so eager to stake a claim on the evidence. I wasn't surprised that the folks here in the Outer Rim can't even recognize a lightsaber anymore - I only knew about them because my uncle used to tell me stories, fairy tales of the Old Republic before the Empire. He was arrested on charges of conspiracy against the Empire when I was but a boy, and I neve
    The longest series of threads ever to be posted on the JC: Talon Intel Squad: Chapter 20 Raising the Stakes. The thread requires a bit of explaining, but if you like Rogue/Wraith Squadron novels, you should easily like this. *crosses fingers* ;)
    -----
    He sat there wondering what reminded her so much of his memory as if she was a part of that distant history, a testament to all of his recollections and hardships. She sat quietly in the anterior part of the shuttle, fiddling with her outfit and giving little grunts as she pouted about her appearance. As a long time rebel and soldier, he could not think of why she reminded him of his own kind, a kind that had seen so much yet yearned for more.
    The trio had just excaped from the Imp Asteroid code named "Eclipse." From what Ski could gather, it was a prison facility with fully functional hospital and cargo areas. That was a bit of a intimidating idea; it meant Lady Carre could possibly be establishing camps and bases all over unclaimed space preparing for war. Asteroid Eclipse had originally been classified as a pirate base, which meant that the Imperials were working under the false pretenses that they actually were pirates raiding systems and convoys. That was why Talon Squad was sent in; to gather intel about these recent attacks.
    From the garnered datapad Dos could not find much about Carre's assets, aside from a few thousand lists of prisoners. No other intel could provide insight into if it actually was Carre acting against the Republic, or whether it was an affiliated terrorist group. The ISD Dire Wolf had not been heard of in years, which led to Ski doubting that Captain Romwing had any connections. No TIE Mystician sightings had been made; the only starfighters attacking the convoys were a highly trained group of uglies, ships with mismatched proportions. Had Carre made a deal with the surviving Imperial remnants and pirate groups? There was no doubt that the crews operating at Asteroid Eclipse were Imperials, but who were they working for? It was hard to think things through.
    The mission had been somewhat of a failure, despite the fact Dos and Ski had inadvertantly shut down a medium sized Imp base by simple backing up the sewer system.
    From what Ski could remember the rest of Talon Squad was raiding the Blood Fist, a suspected ugly-fighter carrier. The ship was a modified action transport, but it could not be taken so lightly. The shuttle had been commandeered from the Imp base was en-route to the last known location of the Hands Down II.
    The shuttle rocked back and forth in hyperspace and Dos cursed in the cockpit, speaking of something similar to course trajectories and interstellar course corrections that old Imperial shuttles were known to make mid-trip. Grinning towards Dos? general direction, Ski unbuckled his seat and stood, stretching is legs. He casually walked over to their unwanted passenger and smiled. He acknowledged his presence with a grunt. He continued past her and opened up the storage locker near the aft end of the ship, inspecting the contents inside. He made a small laugh and leaned inside to pick out what he had found.
    "Dos, look what the Imps left us."
    The shape shifting lieutenant entered the main area of the shuttle from the cockpit and leaned against the bulkhead, flipping his hair back in frustration. He had been working with the cockpit controls and it did not appear he had made much progress. "Sir, that cockpit is going to be the death of me."
    "This rickety old crate isn't worth the trouble working on it, Dos. But take a look at these." Ski pulled out a DLT-20A long range laser rifle, several standard E-11 stormtrooper blasters, and half a dozen BLT-12 blaster carbines. Then in a sack he pulled out two pouches of Class B thermal detonators.
    Dos? eyes got big as he inspected all of the contents. "Ghost is going to have a field day with all of these." He pulled out a carbine and loaded it. "Jackpot."
    Chapter One-Prelude to War
    Coruscant
    "Hey there sweetheart," said Han Solo, with a sly grin on his face. "Ready for a day of doing nothing?"
    Leia smiled, then replied, "You know I am. This war against Grand Admiral Thrawn has taken a lot out of everyone."
    Han nodded in agreement, when Luke walked in. He gave Leia a hug, and slapped Han on the back.
    Han said, "Hey kid. I hear you and Mara are going to plead your case to the Council today."
    Luke's proposed plan was to set up a new Jedi Academy, to start a new generation of the galaxy's protectors.
    Luke replied, "Yes, we are going down there in just a few minutes. I told Mara I'd meet her here, and then..."
    He trailed off, as Mara entered the suite. "Are you ready yet farmboy?"
    He could only smile at Mara's nickname for him, and then he said, "Yea, I'm as ready as I'll ever be. See you later Han, Leia."
    Han gave him a mock salute, and said, "Good luck kid."
    Grand Admiral Thrawn looked at the officers organized in the room. They were some of the finest officers the Empire had to offer.
    Admiral Daala, Admiral Trigit, Captain Pellaeon...the list could continue for a while.
    Grand Admiral Thrawn addressed the officers. "Gentlemen, and ladies, the time has come to strike out at the New Republic for good. We shall be attacking Coruscant."
    There were a few silent murmurs, but most of the senior officers just stared in stony silence at Thrawn.
    Too High a Price to Pay:
    http://boards.theforce.net/message.asp?topic=5170562&replies=0
    The innocent civilian craft, Pandora, hung in space, silhouetted by
    hundreds of stars in a barely known corner of the galaxy. She sat in her
    cockpit, completely at ease. The Pandora was completely safe. She had
    spent more than a decade and hundreds of thousands of credits on it,
    and had it built from scratch. It was shaped roughly like a modified
    assault transport and was almost as big. In its expansive bridge, the
    holo-recorder sat in front of her, pleading silently to release its secrets.
    Aryn Valryght sighed.
    She picked a jet-black braid to twist in her fingers absentmindedly, while
    the rest hung around her in thick coils, like snakes ready to strike.
    Talmoth had promised her a good bounty, so why did she hesitate to play
    the message? Rebuking herself for her second thoughts, Aryn twitched
    her finger in a defiant fashion, as if to offend herself.
    The recorder snapped on and a silvery image shimmered into her sight and
    formed into a ghostly blue figure of a Toydarian that she had never seen
    before. The pudgy winged creature?s throaty Basic filled the cockpit as
    Aryn examined the details of the figure.
    "To whomever receives this bounty, I place this mission in your capable
    hands."
    At this, he glared at the viewer, as if to question the unknown but
    ?capable? hands. The Toydarian broke his gaze, cleared his throat and
    continued. He seemed off focus, Aryn noticed, and rushed. Aryn
    wondered if this was his first try on this particular message, not worrying
    about refinement, as if pleasentries took a definite second beyond his
    bounty.
    "I, Sorasto, am a well respected merchant on Slamis IV, the most
    inhabited planet in the Requoth system. Our planet is a plutocracy, and
    my social status relies heavily on my respected image."
    Aryn smiled wryly. Respected images aside, Aryn understood only too well
    the power held in politics. It was one of the reasons that she had first
    become a mercenary and then a bounty hunter, and then had joined the
    newly formed and still struggling Bounty Hunter?s Alliance. Unlike the failed
    reestablished Bounty Hunter?s Guilds which came to close right before the
    collapse of the Empire, over seven years before, the BHA was small,
    publicly unannounced and was almost a dictatorship and democracy
    combined and was not large, nor public. A leader was elected and then
    given complete power and could promote other bounty hunters in ranks.
    Aryn had joined for one reason.
    For her, there was no good or evil, only power and those who would
    prove strong enough to seize control of it and its rewards. Money. Money
    was power. The figure from the past continued on its predetermined way,
    oblivious to Aryn?s mental wanderings.
    "There is one on this planet that has accidentally come across some
    certain... information that w
    Cool thread! Here's the first post from "Almost Family". It's an AU that happens right after the "Courtship of Princess Leia". (Sorry if it's kind of long.)
    * * * * *
    Luke glanced nervously at his companion. ?You don?t have to go through with this, Han.?
    ?I know.? He didn?t look at Luke, but straight ahead, down the aisle of the elaborate hall. Luke could feel the turmoil emanating from his friend, and wished he could help him, but he was just as shocked as Han.
    They reached the front of the hall and moved to sit in the first row. ?Reserved for family,? Han read ruefully. ?I?m not exactly family.?
    ?I am,? Luke said, more firmly than he felt. ?And you?re with me.?
    Han voiced his unspoken thought. ?I was almost family, huh??
    Luke didn?t reply. He settled himself more firmly in his seat, trying to relax and be comfortable. He noticed Han wasn?t even trying. The man sat perfectly straight, not letting his guard down for a moment.
    After an uncomfortable minute of silence, grand music filled the hall. Excitement rustled through the immense crowd behind them. The beautiful Hapan music swirled patriotically, and Luke rose to his feet with the rest of the room.
    He could feel those at the back of the hall craning their necks, then heard them sigh with delight as the bride passed them. When she reached the front, Luke resisted the urge to stare. Leia was stunning. She glowed, and he felt her satisfaction as she passed him. Han didn?t even look at her.
    Leia turned her head and smiled at Luke. He forced himself to smile back, trying to mask his feelings from her. Then she was past him, and he watched her float up the steps on Prince Isolder?s arm to where Ta?a Chume, the Queen Mother, waited for them. Ta?a Chume smiled triumphantly through her veil at Luke, and though she intoned beautiful words of joining, he knew she was chanting inside, ?I told you so, I told you so.?
    It was the longest hour of Luke?s life.
    * * * * *
    Luke was one of the last guests in the reception line. Leia smiled and embraced him.
    ?Congratulations,? he said, trying to sound happy.
    ?Oh, Luke, I didn?t think you?d come!? Her relief was evident.
    ?I came,? he said heavily. ?And I brought Han.?
    ?Yes, I saw.? Her smiled faded. ?Luke,? she burst out defensively. ?You know I couldn?t marry him!?
    Luke couldn?t hide the bitterness in his voice. ?He was good enough for you before Isolder came.?
    She fidgeted. ?I had to seal the alliance between the New Republic and the Hapes Consortium. You know that. I thought you had accepted it.? She swallowed hard, and blinked rapidly, her Force presence filled with pain.
    Impulsively, Luke stepped forward and hugged her. ?Whatever you do, Leia, I?ll still love you.?
    He sensed her anguish turn into irritation. ?What, you anticipate more ?bad? decisions in the future??
    ?That?s not what I meant.?
    Leia gave him a long look he couldn?t decipher and turned smilingly to the next guest.
    Why couldn?t you just follow you heart for once? he asked silently. You?re allowed to be selfish, Leia. Especially when it doesn?t hurt anyone. Luke realized for the first time how hard it could be to love someone so much, yet have a duty to others. As a Jedi, he felt that conflict frequently. Now he knew Leia felt it, too.
    Han approached him. ?You talked to her??
    ?Yes.? Luke sighed. ?Han, I?m worried about her. She hasn?t known him long enough. Sure, he?s dazzling and she is forging a valuable alliance with the Hapans . . .?
    ?Luke,? Han said. ?We?ve been through this. You have to let her make her own decisions.?
    Luke had to laugh, though it was a dry sound. ?You?re the one who kidnapped her.?
    ?I had to,? Han said softly.
    Luke nodded. They had repeated this conversation is several different forms at least twenty times over the last four months. Neither of them had addressed the issue outright; they had talked around it. Luke was relieved at how much control Han seemed to have
    (This is not the first post, but a few in and towards the beginning...)
    Somehow, Obi-Wan must have fallen asleep that night because he woke up
    to sunlight and stretched... He ached all over for some reason, and his
    muscles cried, as if they were just finally getting a chance to relax.
    The first thought that hit him was the dream. Hours later and he still couldn't
    shake that dark feeling. Truly, it had been the enemy, and why he had been
    sent there.
    He got up, dressed and prepared to go present himself to Amon. The sooner
    he could solve this whole thing and be out of here, the better...
    Obi-Wan walked slow and deliberately through the red marbled halls to the
    throne room, trying to act as dignified as possible.
    //Act like you belong,// he thought. //Act important.//
    He threw his shoulders back, lifted his head up and strode- right into a door.
    "Oh, I'm so sorry," a feminine voice cried, immediately rushing to the fallen
    Jedi's side. "I didn't know anyone was there when I opened that door and-
    are you all right?"
    Obi-Wan sat up, head throbbing and managed a small smile. "I'm fine..."
    "Oh, I'm such a clutz! They should fire me... Oh, sith! Why do I even try?
    Why do I-" she then realized that she was indeed talking aloud, and stopped
    to try to compose herself.
    She drew herself up to her full height, casting a regal pose of just over five
    feet. She brushed herself off with what she thought to be a haughty fashion.
    She wore a modest velvet red skirt, and her hair was tied back in a plain
    braid. A single silver sash hung across her chest to her waist, and her
    cinnamon eyes were offset by her burning cheeks.
    "Well, I am Andrea," she said, and curtsied in the planet's royal way.
    "Obi-Wan Kenobi," the Jedi said, bowing and trying to seem impressive.
    "Jedi Knight," he couldn't help to add. She seemed to wince.
    "Yes well, I am the court administrator's assistant, and I'm supposed to lead
    you to see the king."
    Her voice rang in a sing-song way, but was very purposeful and trustingly
    honest. "If you would follow me..."
    She marched him up to a set of giant wooden doors and signaled the two
    spill out such a light that it made Obi-Wan squint.
    It was a different room from where he had originally met King Amon, this one
    used supposedly for ceremonies, and all the pomp and circumstance.
    Trumpets rang out and a carpet was rolled out for Obi, in the color theme of
    the rest of the palace in its blood red form.
    The teen Jedi couldn't help but stare at the high ceilings and wide gold
    framed windows. King Amon certainly knew how to give an impressive
    welcome.
    "I present to the Great Majesty, Obi-Wan Kenobi," announced Andrea in an
    official voice, but high and light nonetheless.
    Obi-Wan exaggerated his bow and his robes swooped around him.
    This is from my first ever complete fic, Echoes Of The Future. It covers the beginning of the Great Purge and the struggles, both internal and external, of Jedi Master Kieran Dreen, as he fights for both the Jedi and his family, following a path that may ultimately lead to the Dark Side.
    Stung by the loss of Anakin Skywalker, and the sudden disappearance of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda, the Jedi Council is crumbling from the Clone Wars.
    Hiding from the rising anti-Jedi feelings, the Jedi Council has found a new home in the depths of the jungles of Arramon. The few remaining Jedi Masters have gathered there in an attempt to weather the coming storm.
    Across the galaxy, deep in the core, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine has started amassing the fleet that will transform him from Chief of State to Emperor...
    Chapter 1
    Byss.
    Home to hundreds of the rich, privileged families of the Galactic Republic. Home to the senators and their aides. Home to millions of sentient beings. All human.
    Here, hanging in space, the newly completed Palpatine?s Pride, an Imperial-class Star Destroyer - only the fourth of it?s kind ? waited for its Captain. She was huge, over 1.5km long from tip to tail. Her v-shaped hull appeared to knife the darkness aside, the lights across her craggy surface pushing back the black of space. Approaching her from the surface of the planet was the Lambda-class shuttle, Humanity?s Salvation.
    "Coming up on the Pride, Captain. Anticipate docking in approximately 1 minute."
    "Thank you, Ensign."
    Captain Balamon Aruwn, 31 Coruscant-Standard years old, one of the youngest captains in Republic history, stood behind the pilots of the shuttle, hands clasped behind his grey uniform, his rank pips polished to a high shine. Over 6 feet tall, his body appeared sculpted rather than grown. His hair was neatly cut, the little visible under his cap a light blonde. He had clear, blue eyes that seemed to penetrate your mind when he looked at you. He was everything the new Imperial Navy wanted in their ranks.
    Approached by an undercover operative of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Aruwn had jumped at the opportunity to join the secretive organisation that supported Palpatine?s vision of the future - a vision where humans ruled, guided by a benevolent emperor.
    Now, years later, their organisation was large enough to begin the process of launching the Imperial Navy, a fleet of ships more powerful than any vessel serving the Republic Navy. And he, Balamon Aruwn, would be Captain of only the fourth ship of its kind. Sworn to the service of Emperor-to-be Palpatine, he would rain fire and darkness down on those that did not acknowledge the truth of his emperor?s destiny.
    Aruwn looked out through the viewport at the rapidly growing Star Destroyer, his eyes tracking over the surface as the shuttle slipped under the main hull towards the large docking bay. Lights cast from sensor clusters, turbolaser tracking ports, tractor beam arrays, each bump or mark on the surface had meaning for him. He felt like reaching out his hand to touch the surface. In moments, the shuttle ceased its forward motion and rose at a sedate pace upwards, into the cavernous hold of the mighty ship. Deft manipulation of the controls by the pilot moved the shuttle into the main hangar bay and Aruwn was impressed by the negligible shudder as the main leg mounts settled to the deck with a barely audible sound.
    "Docking complete, Captain."
    Aruwn nodded once to the pilot, turned and made his way back to the exit ramp that was opening onto the deck below. Arrayed before him as he reached the top of the ramp were several officers, his immediate staff.
    "Welcome aboard, Captain."
    "Thank you, Commander Petre," Aruwn said as he descended the ramp to meet the man. "It is a pleasure to finally board my ship as her Captain. Status?"
    "A full compliment of Tie-Fighters have been issued to us from the shipyards at Annuvasa. Crew is at full strength, and
    I decided to put up another first post. This story is still short enough that peopel could actually catch up with it. This is "Namesake."
    * * * * *
    Luke Skywalker stood with his arm around his wife, Mara, watching the ship approach the planet?s surface. Excitement stirred within him. Mara leaned her head on his shoulder.
    It was a perfect day. The sky was a deep shade of blue that complemented the greens and purples of the lush, tropical life around them.
    The ship landed with the thud and flash of repulsors. The ramp slowly lowered, showing a pair of small boots at the top. They were brown and scuffed, and showed no sign of coming any nearer. A larger pair of boots appeared behind them, and the small ones stumbled forward. A pair of short, sturdy legs came into view, followed by the rest of a little boy?s body.
    Luke drew in a deep breath. The child?s light hair reflected the sun, and his light blue eyes stared about him in wonder. The boy glanced at Luke and Mara as though startled to see them there. He turned and started back up the ramp like a frightened animal.
    "It?s okay," said a soothing voice, and the boy returned with his father. Luke held out a hand in welcome. The man?s blue eyes, so similar to Luke?s, crinkled in greeting. "Uncle Luke!" he called, starting to walk toward them. The boy latched onto his leg, though, and he was forced to stop. He bent down and said something stern. The child released his leg slowly.
    "Anakin." Mara pulled him close and kissed his cheek. "We haven?t seen you for so long."
    Luke embraced his nephew. "We missed you here. Yavin?s a lonely place without Anakin Solo underfoot."
    Anakin grinned, looking older than Luke remembered. "When duty calls, it must be answered," he replied. Then, with barely contained excitement, he turned away from them. "Come on, they won?t bite," he said softly to the blond haired child. The little boy gave Luke a wary look, then darted into his Anakin?s arms. Anakin lifted him and faced Luke and Mara. "And this is my son, Luke Solo."
    "Hello," Luke greeted him, smiling. His great-nephew, with his mother's pale hair and his father's ice blue eyes, looked almost exactly as Luke had when he was that age, a boy on Tatooine. The child remained silent, staring at him. Their gazes locked, and the boy didn?t look away as he had earlier, which surprised Luke.
    Anakin frowned. "Say hi, Luke," he commanded.
    "Hi," the boy whispered. Then he firmly closed his lips.
    "He doesn?t talk much around strangers," apologized Anakin, embarrassed.
    "Many children are like that," Mara said briskly.
    "Luke! Mara!" A pretty young woman emerged from the ship and made her way down the ramp, a little faster that was safe considering the narrow footing.
    Luke grinned. "Tahiri! I haven't seen you for . . ."
    "Several years," she said, finishing his sentence for him. "Not since the three of us went off on that mission of yours that took forever." She smiled playfully, and Anakin slipped his arm around her waist.
    "It was an interesting mission, don't worry, Uncle Luke," he said. "Starting another Jedi Academy for young trainees was a brilliant idea."
    "It was mostly yours," Mara commented wryly. Anakin shrugged. "But come on inside. People are anxious to see you, Anakin, and meet your son."
    Anakin put the boy down, and the four of them entered the huge Massassi temple. As always, a wave of memories passed over Luke as they went inside. His first time in this building, trying to fit in among veteran pilots and ending up a hero, then returning to the temple years later with his first students, teaching them to fight as a team and ultimately defeating the ancient Sith lord Exar Kun. He smiled as he remembered the students who had followed, many of them mere children. Anakin Solo had been only eleven when he first came, and eleven when he faced his first challenge against evil.
    Luke shook his head to clear it. Bad things had happened here, too. Defeat, fear, de
    Hi everyone, I'm writing my first fan fic, and just thought I'd get the word out! Here's a little sneak peek. :) It's a L/M AU story.
    ~~A Little Fall of Rain~~
    Mara slammed the door to her rented apartment and threw herself down on what the landlord called a "bed". It was more like a table with a feather pillow on it for extra comfort. Angrily she kicked off her shoes, and shut her eyes. She had a headache coming on, and it wasn't because of her repair problems.
    Who did Skywalker think he was anyway? That he could just waltz into her life and out again as he pleased? There were times when she wished that she would have killed Luke Skywalker. And then, there were other times...
    No! She shouted inside her head. We are not going there! Not today, not ever! Without permission, her mind and thought traveled back to the lift ride. Luke's sandy blond hair, tussled, his ice-blue eyes that could pierce her very soul, he always seemed to know what she was thinking.
    Mara shook her head roughly and jerked out of her reverie. She ws not going to think this way about Luke Skywalker. A little part of her heart wondered, why not?
    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
    Luke watched the lift doors close, and tried not to think about the brush off he had just received. Mara must have really been frustrated with her ship. She probably couldn't figure out what was wrong. Maybe he would send Han down later, or Chewie.
    Luke...
    Leia was back from the meeting with Gavrisom. Luke frowned. She sounded tired.
    Yes?
    I see how it is, she teased mentally. Find out your sister is gone, so go chase after another girl.
    Luke blushed a little. I'm on my way back right now.
    Good, we need to talk. Leia gently broke contact.
    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
    Luke opened the Solo's door, and walked in unannounced, but there was no surprising Leia. She appeared from around the corner, and gave him a hug. "Luke, it's good to see you."
    Luke smiled, and whispered "You too."
    "Han told you that Kam tried to call?"
    "Yeah, we called him back, but the network on Yavin is down."
    Leia's deep brown eyes filled with worry, furthering the impression of weariness that Luke got from her. "It sounded important."
    Luke sighed. "I know. He'll call when he gets the system back up though."
    Leia nodded slightly.
    "So, how have you been? Gavrisom been running you around lately?"
    Han snorted from the doorway, announcing his presence. "You could say that, Luke."
    "What's going on?" Luke asked of Leia quietly.
    Leia sighed. "The Ishori and Diamala are at it again. They agree on a Trade agreement one month, and then the next month decide that it's unfair. Tempers are flaring, and the heat is rising, Luke. I'm not sure if we're going to be able to stop it this time."
    Luke gave Leia a distracted squeeze. "What is it?" Leia asked. She knew she had lost him.
    "Hmm? Oh, nothing."
    Han sighed. "Whatever kid, spill it."
    Luke smiled tightly. "Just a familiar presence I can't place. Whoever it is, is coming here."
    Han tightened his grip on his blaster, while Leia asked, "is this going to be good or bad?"
    Everyone seemed to stop breathing as the door chimed. Threepio hurried to answer it. The trio in the living room remained very still, Threepio's voice carrying clearly.
    "Yes, ma'am. Master Luke is here, but I'm not sure if he's expec-" A faint clank of metal was heard as Threepio was apparently brushed aside. "Oh dear." the droid wailed, bring Han, Leia, and Luke to their feet. "Ma'am, I don't think that-"
    Threepio stopped talking as the strange woman entered the room. She looked as if she had just stepped out of a Tatooine sand storm. She had on layers of clothing, and scarves covering her face. Dusty and dirty from travel and time, that lended an air of mystery to her.
    Luke stepped forward slowly as the woman came to an abrupt stop.
    "Luke." came a husky voice.
    "Can I help you?" Luke asked politely, although somewhat strained.
    "You don't recognize me do you?" the woman continued.
    Luke shook his head slowly. "I'm sorry, you're familiar, I just can't
    Well I'm gonna have to post the first two parts of my story in order for you to get the plot.
    It is 6 years after the events in Star by Star. Almost all of the galaxy?s former inhabitants were dead or enslaved. The Jedi who remain are in hiding. There are small groups of resistants. Th dominent species in now Yuuzhan Vong. Jaina solo is now 25 and married. She has a daughter Moya and has just given birth to her second child, a boy named Der. But she is soon to find out that raising children in this new galaxy is almost impossible without experiencing great losses.
    Prologue
    Five year old Moya Fel stood outside of her home. It was only a small hut like creature. And it was the only home she could remember. She could her mothers screams of pain. Crossing her fingers she began to whisper ?Force please let mama and baby be alright.?
    Suddenly she heard it. A baby?s wails. She rushed inside. Her mother sat up in her bed holding a tiny bundle. Her new brother or sister. She hurried over and hugged her daddy.
    ?Do you want to see your new baby brother Moya?? he asked.
    She nodded vigorously. He took her hand and walked with her to her mothers side.
    ?Hi Moya ? Jaina said quietly. ?Say hi to your brother Der?.
    ?Hi Der? Moya said waving.
    ?Sweety why don?t you let your mommy and me have a talk? Jag said.
    ?Ok daddy? Moya said. She left the room and sat down outside the hut. Suddenly she heard voices. Glancing up she saw the Warmaster Tsavong Lah coming towards her home. She jumped up and stood with her head owed.
    ?Master? she said when he strode up to her. He looked down at her then gently brushed her aside. And entered the hut. Fear penetrated every inch of young Moya?s body.
    Jaina Solo Fel now stood by the only window in the room that served as her and her husbands bedroom. Moya slept out in the only other room in th small hut. That room was the families living and eating are.
    In her arms she held young Der. He had black hair like his father and brown eyes like his mother. Jag stepped over behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
    ?I love you? he said.
    ?I love you too? Jaina said turning her head to gaze at him. Suddenly they heard someone coming towards them. Jag backed away so that he was now standing at Jaina?s side.
    Warmaster Tsavong Lah stood in the doorway. ?I have come to see the new jeedai baby? he said. ?And to inform you both of something?. His gaze fell on Jag.
    Jag backed away and Jaina stepped forward and let the Yuuzhan Vong Warmaster gaze at the baby. ?He is like any other human in appearance ? the alien said. Jaina nodded.
    ?I am also here to inform you that your husband is to be relocated to another worldship next cycle. Your newest offspring will remain with you?.
    Jaina gasped. ?what about Moya? She is only 5 standard years old.?
    ?She will remain with you for now. Until your son is older you will be excused from your duties?. He then turned and left.
    Hi, my name is Gutter Monkey. This is the first post of my fic, Orphan Of The Empire.
    ---Orphan Of The Empire---
    Personal log entry--
    Rear Sargent Chaden Mirona
    VSD Domination
    2nd Battalion
    B Company
    1st Platoon
    They were so damned proud. So happy.
    I rember Dad saying that the day I announced that I was going to enlist was the happist day sence I was born. My mother cryed for six hours straght. Her baby boy was all grown up, and joining the Army.
    Everyone showed up at the spaceport when the shuttle came to pick us newbies up. There were hugs and kisses, and more hugs, and plenty of tears...mostly from the ones staying behind.
    Almost no one on the shuttle was sad to leave. It wasn't that they didn't like home, but the drive of patriotism was stonger then any ties to home. We all wanted to show that we were the best, the most loyal. The cream that Alderaan had to offer. The drill sargent stood up at the front of the shuttle, and told us that the first part of our lives was over. We would not be allowed to contact our familys for the duration of basic training.
    Basic was at turns the scareist damned thing I ever survived, and the most fun I have ever had. The scattered all the groups of guys from the same planets all over the training battlions. They told us that all planitary allegences were false, and that our one true allignece, our only real master was the Emperor. He was the benevolent ruler that distroyed the corrupt Jedi Order, and united all the warring factions of the Old Republic into one united whole, the Empire. We were the glue that would hold this instermint of peace together.
    So this was what my Dad went through. And his Dad before him. Our family had been in on the ground floor of the founding of the Empire. My grandfather fought in the Clone wars, and then joined up. We had alwas served loyaly. After Grampa became too old to continue on with the Army, my Dad joined up. When he was wounded by a terorrist upriseing, he was discharged and marryed my Mom.
    I was the youngist of five. They all joined. Two were killed by rebel terrorists. Everyone was sad at thier passing. But insted of giveing up, our family pressed on. I devoted my life to the interest of peace, serving the Empire. I harbored no doubt in my mind that I was doing anything but the right and honerable thing. I was determined to be the best, and in so doing further strengthing the Empire.
    I knew that the empire was the only route to galixcy wide peace. I KNEW the Empire was the best thing for the people of the Galixcy, whether they liked it or not.
    Two hours ago, I got the news. I will never see my father and mother agin. My brothers, were on leave. My aunt, my uncle, my cousins. All gone. The most loyal family on Alderaan was wiped out, along with billions of other innocents, by the Empire I was sworn to protect. I can't beleve it. But, I know that it is true.
    They say that it was punishment for some crime aganist the Empire. I just can't beleve that. I didn't know anyone who didn't support the Empire 100%. The only reason I can think of is that Alderaan was used as an example. They killed billions, just to set an example of the price for treason. Why did they chose one of the loyal planets? Why did they kill my family?
    I don't know, but I will make them pay.
    Chaden loged off of the terminal. He read his entry, and then deleted it. He knew that all journal entrys were monitered. He would find who was resposible, and kill them. Simple as that.
    Falling From Light
    6 Years Later
    1.
    ?. . . That?s not the beginning of the end, it?s the return to innocence . . .?
    ***
    The darkness consumed her. All she saw was black. All there was, was black. The
    rain pounded harder onto the planet, creating a sadistic melody throughout the
    cells. A shrieking noise followed by a low roar could be heard, and the storm
    continued it?s path of destruction. Thunder sounded with such great force it caused
    the walls to shake
    True this is storm, but one which has been ragging for many years.
    The Darkness will grow.
    Light will be no more.
    ***
    Today was better than yesterday for the small child. But she knew better than that.
    The Darkness was still coming, waiting to unleash it?s powerful wraith. She brought
    her knees up to her chest, hugging them; resting her head on top. Rocking back
    and forth, she thought of better times when there was light.
    Times when there was love.
    When there was her family.
    . . .
    The warm morning breeze washed over the grassy plain. The bright sun bounced
    between clouds, teasing the world below with it?s light. Birds chirped, singing an
    unknown song amongst themselves. Butterflies dance in air, flirting with the wind.
    Padme gently grabbed her daughters hands. She swung her in a circle, laughing
    with delight. Leia giggled, staring up into her Mothers own smiling face. ?I love ya
    Mama.?
    Padme stopped completely, pulling her seven year old daughter up in her arms. She
    kissed her cheek, saying,?I love you too little Leia.?
    Anakin came up to the two girls, holding Luke?s small hand. ?And I love you too.?
    He moved his hand to Padme?s face, caressing the side tenderly before kissing her
    on the lips.
    ?Ewww!? Luke exclaimed with a scrunched face.
    ?Let?s go in,? Anakin picked Luke up, carrying him on his hip, walking hand in hand
    with his wife.
    This is the place that she liked. The place where Darkness could not reach.
    The place where love filled the air.
    . . .
    The metal door swished open with one swift motion, allowing a cool air to enter the
    dimly lit room. The flickering lights of the halls illuminated the small cell.
    ?No,? she pleaded, tightening the grip around her knees,?no.?
    The guard walked over to the young girl, grabbing her at her wrists. She protested,
    flailing her arms and legs out of reach of the man. She was forced to stand,
    practically being pulled out of the cell. But today was different, they let her walk
    down the hall this time. All the other times she was dragged. Cries from the
    different rooms rang through the hall and into the ears of the child. The man kept a
    firm grip on her arm, staring ahead while they walked. He led her down the same
    corridors as usual, turning down the same halls, and entering the same codes for
    the doors.
    This walk was always long for her, one that niether she nore the guard liked.
    I despise the halls, walking down them means one thing:
    My torture.
    My pain.
    It?s been passed a year since I last saw my Mama and Papa. They took me and
    didn?t even tell me why. But I know in time that I will grow accustom to this Dark
    place. I know I will see my family again.
    Her teeth begin to chatter as they neared the other room. The child?s bare feet
    smacked against the ancient marble floor. Her heart raced as each second
    progressed. The large black door came in to view, nearing with every footstep. She
    swallowed, feeling the lump arise in her throat. The tall man dressed in white armor
    continued his pace, trudging the girl along with him. His sleek, black boots
    clamored with the coal black floor. They walked in silence the entire way there,
    each one not wanting to recognize the other if they were there. His walking seized,
    signaling their arrival to the chamber. He keyed in the entry code, glaring down at
    the girl through the the white mask.?In.? He ordered. She obliged, walking into the
    room, her fists clenched at her sides.
    She knew what she had to do.
    The Lightbearer Series
    A New Path
    Prologue -
    Shimmering slivers of starlight danced across the room as the ribbon-like curtains swayed, undulating in the warm breeze. But it was not the temperature that caused him to wipe a thin layer of perspiration from around his eyes as he looked down at the dark haired beauty sleeping by his side. Without thought his fingers reached out to touch her cheek but he drew them back sharply.
    Almost as if she perceived his thoughts, she sighed and stretched slightly; just enough for the sheet to slip down a bit. Just enough. He exhaled strongly and closed his eyes for a moment, marshalling his thoughts and willing his body to obey decades of discipline. Then he carefully pulled the sheet back up to her shoulders, his fingers just grazing the softness of her arm.
    Noiselessly he slid out of bed, barely causing the satin covers to stir, and dressed. He stood over her as if burning the contours of her face, the feel of her body into his psyche. For that was where she must remain, never again to grace the eyes of his memory with her beauty. He breathed deeply, filling his senses with the fragrance that permeated the room.
    He did not allow himself the pleasure of touching her one last time. She might awaken and if she did, he would never find the strength to go.
    For a brief moment he considered leaving a note, but quickly dismissed it. What could he say to make her understand that he must not, could not stay? Better she should hate him rather than languish in the despair of their forbidden love.
    He quietly slipped out onto the balcony. Before he dropped to the ground below and his waiting starfighter he permitted himself one last glance through the billowing curtains.
    Goodbye, my love. I pray that someday you will forgive me.
    There would be another for her and perhaps she would come to forget this one solitary night. But for him, he must return to his first love and beg for forgiveness.
    As he disappeared over the wall, she moaned softly, tossing as if trapped in a deep, dark dream.
    Jysella Horn ignored the sweat pouring off of her forehead. Instead, she concentrated on the remote barely a meter away from her blazing lightsaber. Sensing an attack, she raised her blade to deflect the ruby red bolt that was suddenly streaking towards her.
    "Enough," a commanding voice ordered. Jysella immediately shut off her jade green weapon. "You're definitely getting better." The voice belonged to her father, Corran. He was a slightly greying man that still fought his best despite the fact that he was past his prime. He leaned against the paneling of the training room, a proud look in his eyes as he watched his only daughter.
    "Thank you, Master," she responded formally, slumping down onto the cold floor. "Of course, it'll still be a while before I can beat you, Dad."
    "And I plan on keeping it that way for some time, Jys. Besides, you kids need all the experience you can get from the older Jedi. The Vong may have left, but there are still plenting of evil people out there."
    This is a good idea. Here's the first part of my fic The Power of the Darkside . Its a post AOTC AU. The best part is Obi-Wan will become Vader. [face_devil]
    2 Hours Post Arena Battle?.
    Anakin Skywalker sat in the middle of the battle arena on the rimworld Geonosis. Though droid parts surrounded him he paid them no mind, which was very out of character for him. Days earlier his master Obi-Wan Kenobi had disappeared while on a mission for the Jedi Council. Anakin sat among the droid parts in deep concentration. He and Senator Padme Amidala had risked their lives to try and save Kenobi, but once they found Geonosis, there was no sign of Kenobi. Count Dooku had claimed not to have seen the Jedi Master. Anakin paused as the thought of Dooku put a scowl on his face. Using the Force he calmed himself as he continued to try to find his Master. Dooku had caused many problems for the young padawan. First he sentenced Anakin and Padme to their deaths in the arena. Luckily, the Jedi had intervened and saved the lives of the two. As he thought, Anakin realized he never feared for his own life, only that of Padme. He shrugged his shoulders, that was something to worry about at a later time. Right now Anakin?s first priority was finding Obi-Wan, he knew Padme would always be there for him. He calmed himself much like Obi-Wan had taught him and fell into the Force.
    Standing across the courtyard Jedi Master Mace Windu watched the young padawan concentrate. No Mace corrected himself, the young Jedi Knight. Mace had come to believe the boy had done more than the trials would have required of him. The boy had held his own against Count Dooku. Mace looked out at Anakin again, watching as the sun beat down on him and smiled. Perhaps something good had happened during the boy?s time on Tatooine. As Mace continued watching, he saw the boy?s face contort into an expression of anger followed by a whispered curse, no doubt learned while pod racing. Mace stepped forward intending to remind the boy to remain calm and not succumb to anger, but he stopped himself. In face Mace felt nearly as helpless as young Anakin Skywalker did. A wry grin appeared on his face, the great Jedi Master Mace Windu was powerless to find his friend Obi-Wan Kenobi. And as time progressed it seemed less and less likely that Kenobi still lived. Glancing over his shoulder, he saw Senator Amidala approaching. He bowed slightly, ?Senator.?
    The young senator smiled slightly, ?Master Windu, has there been any news??
    The Jedi Master frowned again, ?No. No new news.?
    Padme frowned and glanced at Anakin. ?Ani thinks Obi-Wan is still alive. But the rest of you seem to think he is already dead.?
    Mace frowned at the use of Anakin?s childhood name. Anakin and the Senator were too close, but right now it wouldn?t be fair to separate them. The young man had just lost his Master, so he shouldn?t have to lose his friend. ?I hope he isn?t Senator Amidala. But even if Obi-Wan has died, Anakin would be the last person to admit it. Masters and padawans bond in very unique ways. It would be unusual for one not to feel the passing of the other.?
    The senator nodded and looked directly into Windu?s eyes. ?Don?t let Anakin give up searching. If he believes Obi-Wan is still alive that?s good enough for me.? Senator Amidala sighed softly and turned to look at Anakin. ?I don?t know how he deals with losing all the people around him.? She paused before continuing, ?Master Windu do you realize that Anakin has lost both his mother and the closest thing he has to a father in less than a two day span??
    Mace paused, as the reasons behind Anakin?s mood became clearer. ?No I didn?t realize his mother had died.?
    She nodded. ?He?s trying to hide it, but you can tell how much he hurts.? Padme glanced over at Anakin and her mood seemed to change. ?If you?ll excuse me Master Jedi.?
    Mace nodded, ?Of course Senator.? Windu watched as she walked up to Anakin. The young man awoke from his meditations,
    The return of the chosen one - http://boards.theforce.net/message.asp?topic=7214905&page=1
    This is something I?ve been kicking around in my head for a while now, it?s my first fanfic and the first time I?ve written anything since my GCSE creative writing assignment about three years ago so don?t expect anything too brilliant, there are a few characters I had problems getting. Also I haven?t read Dark Journey or Rebel Stand due to poor local bookstores so I may have to adlib a few things.
    Setting: During Rebel Dream after the arrival of the Lusankya at Borleias a man believed long dead returns to the living to aid in the war against the Yuuzhan Vong.
    The area around the edge of the dead zone surrounding the former biotics facility on the moon of Borleias was alive with the sounds of the jungle, the chirping of the birds and the rustling sounds made by the small land animals moving through the foliage on the border between the jungle and the no mans land. The sounds became increasingly more and more agitated and a flock of birds flew away before there was a blinding flash of light totally obscuring the area to anyone that happened to be looking on.
    When the ultra bright light was gone there was a tall young man barely out of his teenage years stood there where before there was no-one. While he looked young and naïve to the casual viewer one look at his deep blue eyes would tell you that he had seen things that no man should ever see. Dressed in simple dark jedi like robes he cut an impressive figure. Right now he had a look of confusion on his face not at all sure just what was going on, this was not the last place he remember being.
    He looked from side to side breathing deeply before taking a couple of uncertain steps forward as if not used to being in this body. A few deep breaths and puzzled looks later he pulled out his lightsabre and after looking at it as if seeing something long lost activated it and ran through a smooth practice routine worthy of a master with little of the uncertainty he showed just a few moments ago. A bemused glance around the area later he started to walk towards the towering former biotics facility.
    Behind him in the the thick foliage of the jungle a single Yuuzhan Vong warrior covered in scars and horribly disfigured crept closer making not a single sound such is his skill. As he reaches the edge of the foliage he sees the young man walking with his back to him and assuming he will be easy prey he launches a single thud bug at him.
    Before he takes another half step forward the jedi has his lightsabre out and intercepts the thud bug before it even comes close to making contact. He then places his lightsabre into a traditional high guard position waiting for his attacker to reveal himself while slightly confused at the fact he cannot feel his attacker through the force. He does not have long to wait, Yuuzhan Vong warriors are not known for their subtlety and he comes charging out screaming an ancient war cry amphistaff at the ready.
    He quickly brought his lightsabre up to block the amphistaff swing the warrior made but leapt back in surprise dropping his sabre when the staff went flaccid and started to move towards him seemingly unaffected by the lightsabre blade. The Vong warrior immediately charged at him aiming for a killing blow against his now unarmed opponent but the young man moving with impossible speed ducked under the swing and brought his fist up in a crushing uppercut that would have knocked any human out cold but barely even budged the Vong.
    Leaping backwards he called his lightsabre back to his grasp and reignited the blue blade and brought it back up into a high defensive position. The Vong warrior with a sadistic smile on his face leapt at him once again aiming to kill but this time he was prepared he dodged under the blow and brought his lightsabre around in a tight circle decapitating the warrior and ending the battle. He quickly deactivated the lightsabre and with a cursory look at his opponent he turned to leave the area.
    As he tur
