Hey all - are any of you familiar with the song by the Kinks that starts out like this:

"I met her in a club down in North Soho
    Where they drink champagne
And it tastes just like cherry cola
    C-O-L-A Cola..." ?

Anyway, I just stumbled across this song, which I am sure most of you have heard, but I wanted to post it anyway because it is absolutely cracking me up!

    Padmay

Yoda - parody of the song "Lola" by The Kinks

I met him in a swamp down in Dagobah
where it bubbles all the time
    like a giant carbonated soda.
    S O D A, soda,

I saw the little runt sitting there on a log
    I asked him his name
and in a raspy voice he said Yoda
    Y O D A, yoda,
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda

Well, I've been around but I ain't never seen
a guy who looks like a muppet
    but he's wrinkled and green
    Oh my Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda

I'm not really dumb, but I don't understand
how he can lift he me in the air
    just by raising his hand
    Oh my Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda

Well, I left home just a week before
and I never ever been a Jedi before
but Obi-Wan said "You stay the course,
You go to Yoda and he'll show you the Force."

Now, I'm not the kind that'll argue with Ben
So it looks like I'm gonna start all over again
    with my Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda

    So I used the force
    I picked up a box
    I lifted some rocks
While I stood on my head
But I won't forget what Yoda said, he said
"Luke stay away from the darker side,
and if you start to go astray let the Force be your guide."
    Oh my Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda

"I know Darth Vader's really got you annoyed
But, remeber if you kill him then
    you'll be unemployed!"
    Oh, my Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda

Well, I heard my friends really got in a mess
so I'm gonna have to leave Yoda, I guess
But I know that I'll be coming back some day
I'll be playing this part till I'm old and grey!

The Long-term contract I had to sign
said I'll be making these movies till the end of time
    with my Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda

    Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
    (continue to fade........)

    LOL.

Weird Al and Star Wars, what could be better and still be PG-13 Rated :)

One of the first CDs my friend Matt owned was a Weird Al one and it had that song on it.
I've never heard the original, but I don't think that really maters ;)

    Nick,
    4 times. That's a lot :D

It may be 5, but I was being conservative in my estimate.

The original is "Lola" by Eric Clapton.

I've seen Weird Al in concert twice now. During the concert in Silver Mountain a few years ago, one of the guitarists sat almost right in front of me to watch the opening act.

I hear that Al is a really nice guy. I know it's hard to tell from a concert, but what do you think?
Nick, I think I can gather your opinion by the fact that you've been to 4(ish) shows

I'm so sad, thinking of it makes me want to rip my heart right out my chest, throw it on the floor and stomp on it till I dieeeee. Ahh.

But really, I've been to at least 5 shows, and have never met Al.

    :-(

But, you've seen him on stage. I know that's not the same but maybe he seemed like a nice guy?

For the best evidence of him being an all-around good guy, watch the Weird Al episode of "Behind the Music" episode. One word... "bor-ing!"

There is NOTHING bad about him they could dig up him, nobody who would go on tape bad-mouthing him (who wasn't obviously joking), no record-label fueds, no ego-battles, no knocked-up underaged groupies, no ex-band members who hate his guts, no booze, no drugs, *nothing* other than Coolio being pissed off about "Amish Paradise". And that wasn't even Weird Al's fault.

    So, in other words,
he's semi-normal. I say "semi" only because of the way he does his music.

Hey JediClone - not to sound like a classic rock know-it-all (but truth be told...); Eric Clapton did Layla, The Kinks did Lola. Layla had him on his knees, Lola was a man.

    He-he!
