So here's my suggestion:

Fleet Junkie Council - Capital Ships discussions of the GFFA

 

I meant, those the thread come with a cloaking shield?

Why not a shipyard themed thread?

 

I assume that the Outbound Flight ships are Chiss fighters - anyone got any high-res images yet?

And I think something like The Capital Ships Thread, Mk. II - The Mess Continues!! would be appropriate...

... abbreviated as CapShips Deuce!

Of course, then the RPG would insist that it was a Capital-class Ships Thread, and then SWTC would object that it it must really be merely a "Capitol-class thread", and much smaller than some other 100,000-post threadnoughts that have been on TF.N all along, but which we just haven't found yet...

Started by Thrawn McEwok, an enigmatic fuzzball with a funny accent, the Capital-class Ships Thread was a terminological and continuity-kludging nightmare; but the fleet junkies pushed for it and the moderators enjoyed it, so the standard Ships Thread was created.

The Capital Ships Thread has enough opinionated points of view to reduce a civilized poster to madness, or take on a legion of lesser dissenting fanboys.... Since its introduction, an improved version of the Ships Thread has begun to see action. The Capital II is an upgraded model featuring increased canon paradoxes and heavier flamewars.

Yeah I had assumed they were the Chiss fighters mentioned in SQ...or perhaps earlier models seeing as it's quite considerabley earlier. I really want to learn about Chiss fighters apart from those damn Clawcraft Especially as it was mentioned that they had different weapon systems from regular starfighters. Ah well...maybe we will sometime soon.

 

Well, does anyone else have any ideas for the new title? I say we let people have a few more hours to post one, then we can post a list of them like Excellence did and begin voting!

Also, how does everyone feel about starting a new thread? I know that The2ndQuest said we can just edit this one, but then our first few pages are cluttered with these discussions. I say that we just vote a title, write a intro, select a person to post it, then get back into the discussions.

Afterall, we have alot of stuff that could be full of ships in the coming weeks...

We need a index to all the relevant links and resources in the first post, the compendium (at very least this version http://warlords.swrebellion.com/compendium.htm ) other stuff of interest that people have put together.

links to swtc and stardestroyer.net would also be useful for newcomers. and heh if we really got inventive we could link into the old thread with topic headings In fact it would be fun to link topics under some of the more prolific posters so people get a idea of where they are coming from (ooooh this would be flamebait) we could have a poll with questions like "the SSD is ? long" heh, I might actually waste my time doing a 'what type of fleet junkie are you?" poll


speaking of which, anyone have a link to the detailed analysis of the battle of endor with screen caps, the one with the 3 or so home ones/15+ mon cals etc etc... need it quick and cant find it anymore


finally if anyone is interested in helping to update the ship database http://warlords.swrebellion.com/shipindex.php (it gets between 30K and 60K unique hits a month and its essentialy unadvertised and incomplete) please contact me, it has the ability to support comments so we could have everyones veiwpoint per ship (even mcewoks) if we wanted to.

Broadside Frigate--seems to be a new design, Imperial
Tartan Patrol Cruiser--seems to be a new design, Imperial

Assault Frigate Mark II--does thename imply it is, like the original Assault Frigate, a modified Dreadnaught-class, Rebel

Ground vehicles:
SPMA-T Walker--obviously akin to the SPHA-T from AOTC, Imperial
2-M Repulsortank--is this related to the Sabre-class, Imperial

MPTL-2a Mobile Proton Torpedo Launcher--is this once of the vehicles from Force Commander, Galactic Battlegrounds, or WEG?

Also the IFT-T Hover Tank from Battlefront II looks similar to the 2-M and the Sabre

Also the Y-B Mining Vessel from Galaxies looks like a B-wing could it be a Slayn & Korpil design; Verpines do like to make mining vehicles

Perhaps if there is no overwhelming support for one of this names after the first round of voting we could reduce the list to the four most popular and vote again. Democracy at its finest!

A long time ago on a message board far, far, away?


STAR WARS- The Fleet Junkies


It was a period of civil war. Capital ship fans, striking from their hidden base, won their first victory over the forces of the evil EU Lit Forum. Though from a variety of backgrounds, countries, and opinions, the small band of original fans organized and formed the Fleet Junkies, a alliance to spread the good news of Star Wars capital ships. They gathered their forces from across the JC forums, uniting Saxtonite with WEGer, New Republician with Imperialist. Despite their often varying opinions, this small brave band of fans set aside their differences to discuss the topic of capital ships and other craft of the Star Wars Universe.

Over time, the organization grew to be embraced by the JC forums. People from across the EU Lit forums suddenly recognized the Fleet Junkies, who were distinguished by their personalized signatures. As their membership expanded and grew, so did the scope of the topics they discussed. No longer bound by discussing just capital ships, the Fleet Junkies turned their collective knowledge towards other topics, like starfighters, transports, military leaders, battles, and tactics. They were recognized as the authority on such topics.

Unity was never an easy thing to maintain. At times, the differences between the Fleet Junkies threatened to pull apart their fragile alliance. Battles raged over countless threads. Super Star Destroyers engaged each other at point blank range, while fights over the size and scope of fleets in the EU were debated back at forth. It was brother against brother. Saxtonite vs. WEGer. New Republican vs. Imperialist. For a time, it seemed as if all was lost.

Yet, pulling together and putting aside their differences once again and uniting in their common goal, the Fleet Junkies weathered these storms. While their own debates continued, they managed to post over 10,000 posts in their original home. They had sub-topics scattered across the boards. Peace and prosperity was brought to the EU Lit forums, protected by the fleets of the Junkies.

Now, over two years later, the Fleet Junkies have established their new flagship. Roving the boards, this mighty warship continues its vigilant watch, ready to come to the aid of any fan that requires the wealth of knowledge they have at their disposal?
