I'd guess it includes the Clone Wars cross sections at the least. A Mon Cal cruiser would be nice though, to go along with the ISD. Neb-B frigate as well.

I would love an MC80 cruiser and EF-76 escort frigate cross section! Both of those iconic OT vessels haven't been given any love in the ICS. Too much focus on wedge shaped capital ships, IMO. [face_not_talking]

I'd love to see them make the Nebulon-B fit the official specs, while making the exterior fit the movie appearance, somehow reconcile that with the computer game appearance, and give it a plausible cross-section for both.

Yeah... maybe if it was built by the KDY Gallifrey division. ;)

All variant Designs :p , Nebulons are apparently nearly as modular as CEC blockade runners.

There is exactly ONE wedge shaped capital ship in the ICS of the OT, while the RA is represented by the Corellian Corvette, so in the interest of balance, if there is a MC80cruiser added, we need another wedge (Executor? ISDII?).;) The Nebulon-B-frigate wouldn't be a problem, since both sides were using the ship.

I saw this cross section book listed on Amazon a few months ago and got excited, but then I figured it was just going to be a reprint. Does anyone know for sure if their will be any new stuff in here?

We had the Executor tower in ITWOT, maybe this'll have the rest of the ship? ;)

There would almost have to be, considering that they've already done a "Complete" version that just threw in some stats at the end rather than actually have some new entries.

Safe money is on any new ships being exclusively from the CWAS, though.

Okay, so I need some help. And you all, this thread, is my last hope! [face_praying]

I have been going over the 3D imagines of the Assertor-class Star Dreadnought for my role playing game, Star Wars: Intervention (our Out-of-Game discussion thread is here)here at the JC. Well, unless my eyes are devicing me, I am counting multiple Heavy Turbolaser emplacements. My question is not what is seen, but the unseen and the out-right odd. Does a ship of this class have any...

    • Turbolasers?
    • Quad laser turrets for anti-starfighter defense?
    • And what in the Force are those Echo Base looking ion cannons on the hull?
    • And lastly, how many starfighters, etc. does the ship carry?
My searches on the internet have failed me. You, Fleet Junkies, are my only hope left for accurate information regarding this ship. Thank you. :)

The Assertor-class Star Dreadnought actually also has a superlaser similar to the Eclipse-class, but official stats haven't been released yet, so your best bet would probably be Fractalsponge's thread on StarDestroyer.Net, since he came up with the ship, though he is also on these forums.

Thing is Super Star Destroyers are not really meant to be played out (neither are Star Destroyers for that matter ^^) as you will go insane just rolling broadsides, but should be treated as massive encounters with more of a hostile landscape hazard character to it and something which will have to be taken down by some truly insane heroic act or piece by piece.

Though if you own the Dark Empire Sourcebook by WEG or the Starships of the Galaxy Saga Editon by WOTC they have stats for the Eclipse which you could just take down a little to give you an Assertor. As far as I spotted your RPG is just text passed so it really actually does not matter, just describe the ship as insanely massive and covered in a massive amount of weapons, making its exact stats unknown actually would make it more of a challenge, as the attackers can never truly know what it is able to do.

Welllll....if you go by Fractals numbers (assuming I found the last numbers he posted over on SDN) it would be this:

    376x 720-teraton HTL (188x2)
    2132x 240-teraton HTL (533x4)
    2048x 40-teraton HTL (256x8)
    280x 240-teraton ion cannon (70x4)

Now, using stuff like 'gigaton' or 'teraton' for an RP is being a bit...over the top on the detail front. That was just what Fractal gave in his thread. To translate into an easier format:

The '720' ones are the biggest on the model. The '240' are the smaller ones, so on and so forth. And yes, those 'echo base looking' things are ion-cannons. As for light anti-fighter weapons...so many it wasn't counted. Yeah...

Note: These are Fractal's numbers. NOT CANON YET. If they ever are going to be canon. So I would take Gorefiend's advice and just go 'really big ship with lots of guns' :p

EDIT: As for starfighters, I haven't found anything yet on that. One would assume that, this being more of a 'gunship' it probably carries less than the Executor. So...a couple TIE Wings? Something along those lines I would imagine.

Thanks guys. Well, being the nerd I am, I counted all of the weapon emplacements. :-B My count for turbolaser and laser cannon emplacements is "unknown," while I spotted them on the hull, I couldn't get an accurate count. Also, my ion cannons may be a emplacement or two off. But, this is what I was able to count (both top and bottom of ship, hanger space included into count of weapons)...

    676 Heavy turbolaser turrets
    • 200 port
    • 200 starboard
    • 120 port super structure
    • 120 starboard super structure
    • 22 command bridge spine
    • 12 bow
    • 2 aft

    290 Octuple barbette turbolasers
    • 80 port
    • 80 starboard
    • 40 port super structure
    • 40 starboard super structure
    • 24 aft port
    • 24 aft starboard
    • 2 command bridge spine
    118 Ion cannons
    • 48 port
    • 48 starboard
    • 2 bridge command bridge spine
    • 20 super structure

So, since I am not any where close to understanding table-top RPGs, are the numbers you posted and my numbers correct? :confused:Because, if I understand you correct, the 376x 720-teraon HTL would stand for the Heavy Turbolaser Turrets (the heaviest guns on the ship), but I counted more then just 376. Or am I reading it wrong?

You may have put together the larger ones into an overarching 'heavy' set. That's what it looks like to me. Again though, I don't know if the numbers I got were the final number Fractal used.

(EDIT: I'll look over the model myself tomorrow to be sure though :p )

As has been said by Gorefiend though...even if both of us are correct, or both wrong, or just one wrong...it doesn't really matter in a story sense. The numbers Fractal posted are just for the model, they have no real bearing on an RP. Since the design was just a project for him, not built for any specific thing. In this case, it may be better just to go on gut-instinct on how you want to do this. After all, not everyone is dedicated enough to go over the model counting the guns :p

    EDIT Mark 2:

    Also, looking at Fractals numbers:

You misread the 720 numbers. The 376 is the number of barrels, there are 188 dual mounts (if I'm reading it right) of those. And there are 533 of the next biggest. That's 721 overall, quite close to your number. So it does look like you put together the two biggest sets of guns.

Okay, so we have 188 (x2 = 376) of the Heavy Turbolaser turrets? And 533 of the Octuple barbette turbolasers?

Yes on the first one, no on the second one. Going off Fractals numbers we have this:

    2132x 240-teraton HTL (533x4)

Those are quadruple weapons (I'll look over the model tomorrow to check that for sure).

As for the Octuple (ISD-II scale) weapons:

    2048x 40-teraton HTL (256x8)

So 256 of those. Entirely possible (as I've said) that I got one of the 'in-progress' counts though. That's another thing I need to check when I'm not so tired :p

EDIT: So my theory in your count is that you probably got the Dual and Quadruple mounts mixed together, and that I have an in-progress count of weapons. It makes sense to my sleep-deprived brain in any case :p

Okay. Thank you very, very much. :) This helps a lot and either way, is close enough for a Big Ship With Lots and Lots of Guns. When you get that count, let me know. :) Thanks again! :D

I think "joule" could be substituted in for "ton" and it would still do what we see in the novels.

Turbolaser bolts from the Executor-class ship Knight Hammer destroy forest an acre at a time in Darksaber (after Daala's ordered the ship to fire at "full power").

A 720 terajoule explosion would correspond roughly to 170 kilotons of TNT- since 1000 terajoules = 0.238 megatons.

Are the heaviest turbolasers supposed to be equivalent to the heaviest on the Executor- or was his idea that they be even bigger than those of Executor-class ships?
