That explains why Finn assumed it was a FO ship in TFA! Cause that is the same type of ship, right?

Does anyone wanna talk about how badass Vader's new ship is from the current Vader comic? It's like an updated sleeker version of the Star Courier/Sith Infiltrator.

I don't think the Enshado is quite the same as a Baleen but it does definitely have a superficially similar shape. It actually reminds me a bit more of the Crucible from TCW.

A Y-wing appearing 30ABY is the best part of the Poe comic tbh

And those wings on Vader's ship look like X-wing intakes, I bet you anything they'll split apart in a future issue (don't tell me yet I'm only at issue 4)

Meh. I've always thought K-Wings should've replaced them long before that. Y-Wings were outdated by the time the Rebels used them. No way they'd still be in use thirty years later.

I don't know - real bombers can last a long time. Look at the B52.

Even in Legends, Y-Wings were treated as a "perfectly good starfighter" that just needed upgraded avionics package to bring it up to date (Young Jedi Knights).

Yes, there are superficial resemblances, but not quite enough to say the Enshado is a Baleen-class.

Also, why would a freighter be used as a light cruiser?

Sorry, I really dislike the K-wing design. It's something that I occasionally see in the X-wing Miniatures game and my reaction is always 'what the hell is that thing?'

I thought the B-wing was the replacement for the Y-wing anyway, and that's a gorgeous beauty.

I think there was a great looking "K-wing" concept from the TFA artbook, along with several other concept letter-wings

Fair enough. But I really don't see why it would be the case here, especially since the two ships are different enough.

I've always been of the opinion that both the B-Wing and the K-Wing were developed to replace the capabilities of the Y-Wing. The B-Wing as the assault fighter designed to attack enemy capital ships with mostly energy weapons, while the K-Wing was a light bomber and carried primarily expendable missiles and torpedoes as its primary armament.

I've always enjoyed the concept that the Y-Wing was a heavy starfighter which after a retrofit was given a bomb-bay in the main fuselage which made it an incredibly versatile and effective attack platform. Capable of hitting space and planetary targets with kenetic weapons while also being able to defend itself against TIEs, a strike fighter if you will.

Personally I find the new Resistance Bomber a fantastic substitute for the K-wing, much more attractive and functional in my opinion. The K-wing felt a bit too much like an overdesigned A-10.

The K-wing was an interesting idea, until WotC came up with a terrible image for it that ignored the descriptions of it entirely, and made it into a monstrosity.

To go a bit further, I thought that Legends had pretty much nailed the New Republic / Galactic Alliance Starfighter Command fleet with:

A-Wing interceptor - lightly armed/shielded and incredibly fast
E-Wing light star-fighter - more of a blend of speed and firepower
    X-Wing star-fighter - near perfect balance of weapons/shields/speed
Y-Wing strike fighter - very durable and able to carry a significant load of munitions while still being able to defend itself in a pinch
B-Wing assault fighter - heavy energy weapons platform designed specifically to take on capital ships
    K-Wing light bomber - basically a missile/torpedo truck

What I always thought they were missing was a heavy star-fighter. I always envisioned something along the lines of the ARC-170. A craft designed with the durability of the Y-Wing, a little more fire power than the X-Wing, but still retaining enough maneuverability to be a credible threat to enemy star-fighters.

Ironically, when I first watched ANH I thought that the Y-Wing was the brand new ship, and the X-Wings the older ones.

If we're going by survival rates, the X-Wing was clearly superior.

I dunno why, and keep in mind, I was like eight years old. Maybe because all of Luke's stuff was old and decrepit, or just the visuals of the ships. I dunno.
