IIRC, Chuck Wendig's reaction to the trailer of TLJ that revealed the Resistance bomber included him saying that their shape was what he was thinking when he created the Starhawk. Which isn't that far off from a hatchet either.

I'm still interested in learning more about the Nadiri Yards. We know they're in the Bormea Sector, maybe the world is a former (or current) colony of Chandrila. There was a reference to Chandrilian colonies in Aftermath...

From the 'you learn something interesting everyday file'....The Kuari Princess...a luxury liner that is of Mon Cal manufacture (they used the Liberty to represent it) is only 500m long.

Until then, I will assume it looks like the Advanced X-Wing from Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds.

(Man, I would honestly love to see that game get an expansion that adds the Resistance and the First Order. After all, more than one old game got an expected expansion pack recently)

 

This is something I have somewhat of an issue with....like all the NR did was keep buying one X-wing after the next after the next. In 30 years IRL we went from from the F14 to the F35.....not the F14 mk20.

I would have liked to see them dig into the old EU and pull up different designs like the E-Wing and the Howlrunner for the Resistance. I also think that with the military disarmament act that there would actually be a lot of new fighters (and capital ships as well) being pushed out to the market what with PSF arming up.

 

No love for the wingless Liberty class star cruisers .

 

Favorite ship in the GFFA? I'll go one for each category

Fighter: Arc-170

Interceptor: RZ-2 A-wing

Bomber: B-wing (I know it's role as a bomber is debatable)

Freighter: G9 Rigger-class

Corvette: CR90

Frigate: Consular-class

Cruiser: Valor class

Star Destroyer: Venator

 

On the other hand, in 10 years, the UK went from Mark 1 Spitfires to Mark 24 Spitfires.

 

Oh man, yeah. I forgot to say what fighter was my favorite...

...and it depends. I really love the Clone Z-95 and the V-19 Torrent, but they are second and third place under the B-Wing.

 

By an interesting coincidence, the length of one of the smaller EU Mon Cal capital ships...

 

Oh man I always forget about the Torrent. Such a unique design

 

I thought it looked very much like the Wraith from Starcraft.

 

It's also a nice mashup of a Delta-7 Aethersprite and a TIE/ln.

I always thought the Revenge of the Sith vehicle designs were too "kit-bashing" feeling in their designs, compared to Attack of the Clones and then the OT, whose designs stand on their own more. But now nostalgia has totally taken over and I love it all.

 

I think you're mistaking the V-19 Torrent for the Eta-2 Actis Jedi Interceptor. The V-19 is the B-wing with bent wings.

 

Ahhh I was actually thinking of the V-wing. Trying to sneak in a post while at work caught right up to me

 

Love me some V-19.

For what it's worth, I pictured the small, terrible craft Paige and Rose Tico used to infiltrate Atterra Bravo in Cobalt Squadron as a HWK.

If we're doing favorites, I'll give my starfighter as the TIE Defender. Flying that monster for the first time as a kid left a pretty indelible mark on me, and I am just thrilled to see it crop up in Rebels and ESPECIALLY the miniatures game.

For capital ships, I'll go with the Nebula-class Star Destroyer. Sleek (especially Fractalsponge's rendition of it), nostalgic in design and paint scheme, it perfectly embodied everything Legends' New Republic was: a truly unified galactic government that was a successor to the Old Republic. Kuat making Star Destroyers for the Republic again was just as natural as the Academy sending officers to the Republic Navy.

 

B-Wing neck and neck with the N1 for favorite fighter -- the TPM ships are pretty great overall.

And then just Correllian everything.

 

Based on the amount of time I spend thinking about them, Lucrehulks might be my favourite ship. They're just so big and full of potential.

im still confused after reading the latest Aphra comic how the Alliance got ahold of one.

 

I would imagine a lot were abandoned at the end of the Clone Wars.

Yes, that is a lot better than that other cross section that makes the ship look like a small fighter with a docking hatch only big enough to stick your arm through lol.

I also really like the cross section that was done for the Moomo Williwaw (I'll check that spelling after posting lol) from the KotOR comic.
