Not sure how many of you are Footrot Flats fans but a guy in New Zealand has just begun a petition to get the animated movie released on DVD. Anyone who wants to support it can go to http://www.petitiononline.com/footrot/.

This would be a good time to release it with new kiwi animation in the limelight with bro'town. I see that was out on dvd quicksmart.

My cat is named Horse :) I can't say he's much like his namesake ff character in temperament, though, but his original owners gave him the name.

If I recall, there are a bunch of legal reasons preventing it from being released on DVD. Some spat between to holding parties, or something. There was an article about it in the Listener (I think) a year or two back.

    "Those bloody Murpheys!!!"

Yeah, I rented the movie about a year ago. The picture & sound quality was dilapidated. A DVD would be super-duper.

But I doubt it will happen as NZ is drowning in red tape.

My cousins actually own a black helicopter & go friggin' hunting in it.

The murphy's and their black helicopter....you know from the movie! Yeah hunting from a chopper would be kick ass.

What's a frig though, and how does one go about hunting them? I assume they're airborne if you need a helicopter to hunt them. Are they like mynocks?

Just an update for you all. The petition worked. I just heard from the distributor responsible and the DVD will be released in November in Australia. I believe it will be released at around the same time in NZ by a different distributor. Special features will include: Interview with Murray Ball, Making of Feature, Film clip of Slice Of Heaven & Oughta Be Love and the P-Money remix of Slice Of Heaven plus Photo Gallery.

Yeah, it would be released on DVD if there was enough demand for it.

For example, Marcus Lush trainspotting TV series has just been released on a 2 disc DVD set. If there is demand for that there may be demand for Footrot.

    I'm confused.

The guy just up there said "Yes, released in Nov", then this person says it will be released *if* there's demand for it...

I think by the fact that it is being released... it's being released... and thusly, there must be demand for it.

    Or have I missed something???
