For crying out loud, which one of you fanboys did this?

As you all know, the Internet Movie Database is a repository of information on motion pictures maintained and updated by contributing users, and only loosely checked by its swamped staff of editors.

Obviously, some jerkoff - and I'm not saying that it's necessarily someone from these boards; let's not assume - thought it would be mighty funny to "contribute" to the Attack of the Clones cast credit listing and list Frank Oz as playing "Master Yoda D'Kana the Whill".

Not only is this a juvenile abuse of the system, but it is a case of misinformation. Such misinformation can be excused if it is based on spotty rumour before the movie is released (after all, IMDB did list Liam Neeson as playing Bail Organa back in 1997) but for crying out loud, the movie's out already! And was there ever, ever any indication that Yoda is known as "Master Yoda D'Kana the Whill"? I cannot express the deplorable Sarlaac-vomit of sub-EUrotrash this is.

His name is Yoda. Frank Oz plays Yoda. If you don't believe me, check the bloody Official Site.

Rant: If you're not going to submit correct information, don't submit it at all. You might think it's funny to see what degree of fan fiction you can slip past the IMDB editors - and yes, a lot gets through - but keep in mind that many people use the IMDB as a serious research tool. And you might think that such a thing as Yoda's name is trivial, but that only spawns more and more fanboy misconceptions.

(P.S. I did submit a correction to the IMDB, and this travesty should be removed within a week or two of this writing, depending on how many submissions have to get through. So shortly, Frank Oz should be properly listed as "Yoda".)

My old "Emperor Palpatine" action figure from after ROTJ said "Emperor PALPATINE" on the box...but the name Palpatine is never spoken in ROTJ!!! Some moron at Kenner obviously had a sick sense of humor!

I agree with Pooh. Imagine if any of us common-rabble would have posted such a trite and insulting thread in the wrong forum and included the phrase ****-off in it.

Guess it goes to show, there's two sets of rules...same as always. The sad thing is, I'll probably get banned for posting this opinion.

 

IronParrot was simply trying to start another "AOTC is RACIST against French Canadians" thread... but failed to capture the "soul, magic, humor, charm, sense of wonder, etc" that was present in the other thread.

 

Hmmm... It wasn't me, but someone e-mailed me a couple weeks ago, telling me that that was Yoda's full and correct name, according to his "friend who works for LucasFilm". I have a feeling that the same guy submitted the change to IMDB.

I care. I don't want people thinking that this is Yoda's full name. It isn't.

Here are the e-mails I received on May 23 regarding the subject:

"yodas race is known as the "whill". i cant remember his full name but i'll ask my cousin. he worked with G. Lucas"

and, later that day:

"Yoda's full name is Yoda D'Kana the Whill"

I replied telling him that there is no proof of this, and that Yoda's race being a Whill is just fan speculation.

 

That's what makes it all the sadder. I'm going to go by Yoda's full name at IMDB, just to p*** IronParrot off.

 

Maybe it´s the Whill of the force...

 

I can't believe this is such a crisis.
