Some of you may be aware of my building an X-Wing, and as such may also be aware of my involvement in the local Experimental Aircraft Association, number 43. You may have also heard that an experimental ship went down two days ago. Well, one of the individuals who died was a member of the group, and was one of the very rare, dedicated volunteers who was going to inspect my ship on behalf of the FAA when the time came to certify her. He was an outstanding pilot, a fair-minded individual, and a huge contribution to the experimental aircraft movement in this country. He's gone now, and I just had to put this out there......his skills as a pilot, builder, inspector will be missed, but to lose such a good person.....tragic.

I'm sorry for the loss, Tim. :(

Sometimes the greatest people in socity aren't the politicians, military, Police, or Fire...it's the rarest group of people who make America truely great and what she is...inventers and thinkers. :)

Why does it always seem like the good ones get their tickets punched early?

The biggest revelation here for me is that we have so much as friends, that we can't let little things get between us; I shouldn't have let anything get between us. God knows if something like this had happened to one of ya'll........I'd be beside myself.

No, but he was THE guy who had stepped up to inspect my bird, and he worked closely with those other fellas you did meet on their own ships in the past.......a VERY respected individual, he was.

His funeral is upcoming, and I'm certain there will be a "missing man" flyover with all experimental aircraft in his honour, as well as probably a "Young Eagles" event named after him, but it'll seem so hollow a gesture after all he's unselfishly done for our flying community.....you never really appreciate them until they're gone.

    Tim,

I am so sorry for your loss. I know that this individual was well known and well liked by several workers here at the museum as well

    <<hugs>>
