That's a good idea, ranking the Plot, Effects, Acting, Pacing

    Plot
    1) Attack of the Clones- Most complex plot, and I like complex things. :p
2)The Phantom Menace-A lot can be said of the acting, editing, whatever, but the plot alone has much intrigue, I'm also into that.
    3) A New Hope- A tried and true storyline portrayed in fresh light.
    4) The Empire Strikes Back- Not overly complex.
    5) Return of the Jedi- Didn't have one really consistent plot.

    Acting/Characters
    1) Attack of the Clones OK, so you may think I'm just still riding the high of a new SW movie, but I don't think so, the acting in AOTC was above any I've seen in a Star Wars movie.
    2) A New Hope Great acting, great likeability factor in the characters, like in AOTC.
    3) The Empire Strikes Back The acting was in the middle,it wasn't bad, but it wasn't far superior. Character likeability stayed the same or sunk a little.
    4) Return of the Jedi Some truly horrible acting, and strangely some of the best of the series as well.
    5) The Phantom Menace The good acting wasn't enough to salvage the bad, IMO.

    Pacing
It's a tie for all around, SW movies don't have fantastic pacing.

    Overall
    1) Attack of the Clones
    2) A New Hope
    3) The Empire Strikes Back
    4) Return of the Jedi
    5) The Phantom Menace.

    But I loved 'em all!

1.ROTJ - Was able to see this during original release as a little kid so it's the most nostalgic one out of the series for me.
2.ESB - On plot, acting, and brevity alone this one is a very close 2nd for a number of reasons. So many unspeakably cool things happen in this film.
3.AOTC - Yep Yep, I loved it :)..not flawless by any stretch but had all the elements of great storytelling. All points converge..we start to see how and why things happened the way they did.
4.ANH - I'm not a huge fan of the original..it's definitely good and classic star wars but it still doesn't have the "WOW" factor the other films had.
5.TPM - Like a lot of people I walked out a bit disappointed. I didn't absolutely _hate_ it, I just felt like it could have used some extra emotion or drama for us to feel sympathetic towards the characters. It was still consistent in the Star Wars Canon however..

Saw ANH at 8 yrs old..hopefully explains
    my #1 spot.

    1. ANH
    2. ESB
    3. AOTC - sincere effort by Lucas
    4. ROTJ - hate the marketing characters(Ewoks)
    5. TPM - again, marketing. Gungans fit
better in "Willow" or "Labyrinth". They
don't belong in SW. The battledroids
were passable(too silly personalities for warrior bots, while C3PO is justifiably
    a human cyborg RELATIONS)

I'm bored so I added up everyones rankings.

Final results of everyones ranking is about this:

    1) Attack of the Clones (By almost double ESB's count)
    2) Empire Strikes Back
    3) Return of the Jedi
    A New Hope
    4) The Phantom Menace

Lessee. Yoda fighting, Slave One, Lots of Jedi Fighting, Battle Droids, Clone Troopers, Walkers, gunships, speeder chases. None of that was in the last movies. AOTC for sure. (Not to diss the other movies, they were great too.)

    The movie is fantastic.

    1)AotC
    2)ANH
    3)ESB
    4)RotJ
    5)TPM

ANH would have tied AotC but since AotC actually made me feel the same way I felt when I first ANH, I'd have to say AotC is the crowning acheivement.

    I'd say in order,

    1.ESB
    2.ANH
    3.AOTC
    4.TPM
    5.ROTJ

Im quiet suprised that Aotc has recieved half the votes.

    My take on them:

    1: ROTJ
    2: ESB
    3: ANH
    4: AOTC
    5: TPM

AOTC was great, but i think that ROTJ is that much better then them all.

    1. ESB - still can't beat "I am your father!" revelation

    2. AOTC - comes very close to ESB in story quality

    3. ANH - fun and exciting (except for early scenes on Tatoonie w/R2, 3PO & the Lars)

    4. TPM - basically a set up, but final battle is a doozie

    5. ROTJ - more like a slightly weak remake of ANH, but final Luke/Vader/Palpatine confrontation makes it worth while

    1. ESB - will probably always be my fave.

    2. AotC - very cool Jedi action w/ complex story

    3. ANH - the original will always be classic

    4. RotJ - the final duel scene is one of my favorite scenes in all of SW

    5. TPM - nice set-up, but can't compete with the rest

Truthfully, I like and dislike different aspects of each film on a similar level, and I think each movie can't get along without the other, so I rank them equally.

I voted gor TPM though, since it's sadly losing :( :)

If AOTC had ESB's or TPM's lightsaber duels, it would have been the perfect Star Wars film. I loved Yoda, but for me its not as good to watch as the two mentioned.

    1) AOTC
    2) ESB
    3) TPM/ROTJ/ANH

I hate listing ANH last which I tend to do, so I'm just going to rate those 3 the same.
