It's a pretty good novelzation. It may have been better if I was more into the prequel stuff than I am.

    On a scale of 1-10 I give it about 8 :)

I actually enjoyed the novel and didn't really have a problem with Salvatore. I don't think anyone can truly describe the Obi Wan/Jango fight or the the Yoda/Dooku lightsaber battle in words. It's just something that we're all gonna have to watch in awe.

I thought it was a pretty good novelization. I've read it twice already, so R. A. Salvatore can't be all that bad.

I don't particularly like R.A. Salvatore. I skimmed the book and found that it seemed really...simple? I dunno how to explain it...I just got the feeling like: "Is this the kid's novelization?" [face_plain]

There were a lot of cool events, but the writing failed to inspire in me any of that "OH!!!" feeling. The book simply failed to capture either my attention or my caring particularly.

It wasn't exactly the most complex and deep novel around, but it was brilliant nonetheless. Of course, I was really hyped up for AotC when I read it, so perhaps the fact that I WAS READING THE STORY TO AOTC clouded my judgement. ;)

I really loved it as far as SW books go. Tied with RotJ as my fav. The ending seemed so rushed though. c'mon! One chapter?
But the rest was gold. Really got me feeling for Anakin without shoving it down my throat. I like that in a book. Plus, he get's to use a lot of his blood and gore stuff that he seems to like oh-so much!

Agreed. It wasn't too good. I finished it last night, and it was so simplistic. Cardboard cutouts. Rushed. No emotion. Ehhh... it was pretty bad. [face_plain] I want my money back!

It was almost as awful as the movie.

Someone really needs to tell Salvatore that the past tense of 'dive' is 'dove' not 'dived.' [face_plain]

I thought his writing style, while genearlly simplistic, was perfect for Star Wars! However, I enjoyed the novelization of Return of the Jede more, because of how well it explores the thoughts and emotions of the characters.

After seeing the movie, I was dying to read the novelization...I was very disappointed in it. Salvatore's writing style left a hell of a lot to be desired. As I was reading it, I just kept thinking that it was at least one thorough edit/re-write away from being the book it should have been given the material he had to work with.
